The ladies serving us were very nice. I am not a sushi person so I judge a sushi place by their teriyaki or non-sushi offerings and then ask whoever I am with their opinion of the sushi. I got a combination dinner with teriyaki beef and chicken katsu. The flavor of the teriyaki was tasty but as with most asian restaurants I find the beef is a little tough and chewy though in this case it wasnt too bad. The chicken katsu was more enjoyable. The presentation is very nice (for my meal and my ladys sushi). We also enjoyed trying a couple of exotic saki beverages before getting a bottle of the house saki to drink with our meal. We tried an apple sake which I thought was refreshing and the oddest thing was we tried a peach sparkling jello sake. Apparently they are quite trendy in SoCal these days. Imagine taking sake and carbonating it and then turning it into a jello shot. It was definitely a unique experience but I will say it tasted nice. My lady enjoyed her salmon california roll the most and the other one she had she liked but not as well as the California roll.

I am reading other people "negative" feedback and just cant believe they even talk about the same place. My family goes to Miraku for so many years and never ever we had sushi that were either fishy or had bad smell. This place is so friendly, classy, with the most amazing decor. They have private room with large flat screen, sometimes even live music. People who serve you have been there for years and when come to the restaurant for lunch or dinner you always feel so welcome and warm. The owners are the most kind and accomodating people and their food is not only delicious, but it also looks like it was prepared to go on the cover of a food magazine. My husband has been traveling to Asia for the last 10 years and he can diffirintiate bad sushi from the good one. We visit Miraku almost every week and always have the best experience. Sometimes it could be very busy and you might wait longer that normal period of time, but you still feel well accomodated and taking care of. Wonderful place and highly recommended.

Blatant discrimination - BEWARE My daughter and two of her friends are steaming mad at this place. This evening they specifically went here for the happy hour menu (which is still on their website as of today - 1/11/17) but were told that they no longer serve happy hour. A couple sat down next to them minutes after they had ordered, and the new table was offered the happy hour menu. When the girls indicated that they had asked for the happy hour but were refused, yet the couple next to them got it, there was no adequate explanation other than "they are old and are long time customers". Well, folks, my daughter has been going there regularly (3X per week) for the past couple years. The servers hover about if you leave even one piece of sushi - prodding the others at the table to "try it" or "push customers to take things home." Um, this is raw fish. Eat it now, you dont bring it home! So, be sure to grab the happy hour menu - they may not do it for you.

Avoid the fish, and the service! Came in for lunch with my friend and we chose to split the Lunch Small Combination Boat. Wonderful presentation, but poor quality food! The salmon sashimi was farmed not wild, the avocado was turning brown, none of it looked fresh, and the white rice had a burnt taste, and everything tasted like itd gone bad with a filmy aftertaste. My friend and I decided that raw fish wasnt the food to take a chance on so we sent about 70% of it back to the kitchen. Because the manager wasnt there the server was at first unwilling to do anything saying that "no one has ever complained before." Only when I asked her to take it back to the kitchen, and bring the check did she offer a 15% discount. Bottom line; I would not recommend this to a friend! Its too expensive of the low quality food, and unaccommodating service!

Love it, love it, love it. (long overdue review, wanted to share with fellow San Ramon citizens=) My family and I have been eating here every weekend for about a year and a half now and we love it. Our son is a little "selective" with his food, so they are always willing to work with us on his "special" orders. Wifey and I are always happy with the bento box and shushi plate, sometimes we try a different plate now and again for something a little different. Weve tried other sushi places around San Ramon now and again to "shake it up a little", but always come back to Miraku! - They dont compare (in our opinion). The food is sooo good, the sushi awesome, rolls awesome, sashimi awesome... and we love the people and atmoshphere. Im glad to have found a "Miraku" in San Ramon...

If you ever want to be disrespected and be ridiculed for your choice of food BY THE WAITRESS, this is the place to go! I would not recommend this place even if their food was half way decent. The lack of basic respect for their new customers just because we ordered California rolls is just not what you would expect in the Japanese culture- In her opinion ordering California rolls made us "boring people" ... she only came back to our table twice and that was just to yell at her help! A very disturbing experience for us and needless to say that we will never go back to this place.

This place has really unusual decor... Japanese items but also quirky things like space toys hanging from the ceiling. The servers wear traditional garb which is a really nice touch and theyre attentive but not overbearing. I have enjoyed everything Ive eaten there... and they have free WIFI so I can work over lunch. One of my favorite spots on my day off.

Average or slightly above average in terms of food quality in my opinion. I ordered 2-piece dinner combo - Beef Tariyaki and Shrimp Tempura. The beef was a bit rough to bite, and the amount seems limited (see picture). The shrimps in tempura seem smaller than those in other restaurants. The service is ok, but menu discussion with customers can be improved.

Service was quick, atmosphere was fun. Booths or tables. A big screen TV at the far wall was playing a basketball game. Food is americanized sushi such as chicken katsu and sushi rolls - or traditional sashimi. We were given free dessert after we were done - I thought we were special, but I overheard the table behind us offered the same thing.

Im not entirely sure why this place has over 4 stars on Google. Took about 10 minutes til someone took our order. She forgot our sodas and our appetizer came out at the same time as our sushi dinners. The sushi was good, but not outstanding. We had to wait a bit for our check as well. So service was pretty bad, food was average.

Stumbled upon this place - sashimi is very fresh, sushi chef is very inventive. The Hamachi sashimi was out of this world. The Mackerel is great as well. Try the Red Boat sushi roll, wonderful combination! I will most definitely go again

Ive been coming here regularly for about a year - every 1-2 weeks. The fish is always fresh, prices are reasonable, and service is good. I usually get a three item lunch combo - sashimi, California roll, and salmon teriyaki - for about $12.
