We have been customers of the Diner for several years and each time we visit, the food gets worse. On the last visit I had the waffle sausage and eggs. Waffle was chewey, sausage was under cooked and the eggs were tasteless. I always bring my own maple syrup because the sugar water cheap syrup they have is God-awful. We really like the corned beef hash but they are usually out of it --- how about---make more of it? The last response I had to my question about the hash was that Restaurant Depot was out of the meat. Sysco? U.S Foods? Vons? Cmon guys. The outside looks like hell and the place is in a nose dive. It is now living on its former reputation and needs to get back on track.

No bueno. Didnt like. I wanted to like this place because most breakfast spots in Pedro are pretty good. This was my second visit and my husband already didnt want to go because he disliked it the first time, but I couldnt remember so I wanted to give it another shot. Prices expensive, service slow ( and kept forgetting after I asked for the toast that went with my order 3 times) and food just mediocre. Mostly, I dislike the cold, unfriendly restaurant atmosphere. Hard to enter restaurant too as you can only enter from one direction. Too many great breakfast spots in Pedro for me to visit again.

WOW just WOW!!! This use to be one of my favorite place to eat a nice emerican style breakfast but apparently is under new owners... now it SUCKS!! Starting with dirty forks an ending with a loud lady screaming all over the restaurant.. Im guessing the new owner!! Food is horrible!!! The best part was the biscuits an now there TRASH!!!! SMH one of the saddest days in my life... if someone knows if the previous owner open another restaurant somewhere els please let me know!!!! Pls pls pls.... PS I give them one start ⭐️ pretty much Because you have to do I can post my comments

The food was delicious and the portions were filling. This place though gets its 5 stars because their service goes above and beyond. We went there this morning and the server overheard us taking about the hotel we were staying at and asked what brought us to town. We told her we had come for a funeral and she went around the table giving each of us hugs and went out of her way to make sure our mother was okay since she was taking it hardest. She made the day so much better for us and there is no way we could ever thank her enough. That level of service is hard to find.

I was a little leery of going out on my own in san pedro for breakfast not knowing the area and despite the low key appearance of the building i decided to try this place based off the reviews. I am glad i did! The service was really fast, incredibly friendly and attentive and the john wayne breakfast earned its reputation. Lots of good food. And I do mean LOTS. Fair warning. I would definitely return to this diner if I were staying in the area.

Amazing food! Classic diner feel. Not really that much to look at, but the service is friendly and the food is more than worth it. I will definitely be back here for more tasty goodness. The decor is pleasant and very ocean/sailing themed. You can tell the place has been there a whole, which gives it a little bit of a dated look. Clean though. The coffee is good. This is a fantastic breakfast spot.

Had a friend visiting from NY and decided to try this place for the first time...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING ME LOOK LIKE A HERO! Our food was delicious, an order of French Kiss and an order of Corned Beef and Hash, and the service was perfect. I recommend that anyone check them out for breakfast. The crowd was nice around 8am on a Wednesday, when I went and it certainly helped me over the "hump"

The employees are nice but the food is horrible. The food lacks flavor and not cooked to order. We ate the John Wayne breakfast because we were told it was delicious. However, it was soggy and looked like throw up because salsa covered the entire dish. They need to hire a chief who knows how to cook properly and present food. My family will never eat there again. It was a waste of money.

We just had the worst meal ever. From what I have ever read and heard, diner used to be excellent years ago. Hubby had cheese burger and fries. Fries were a greyish brown color and soggy. Our NZ visitor had the chili neither tasty nor fresh. I went for the country breakfast. Hard poached eggs, old biscuit, gravy, tasteless. So disappointing on every level.

Absolutely the worst service Ive had. Recieved better service at McDonalds then here. Took way too long to recieve our orders. Did not recieve the items stated on the menu that says comes with my order until I had to make note of it to them. Waitresses paid no attention to refills even after they offered. Will not be coming back.

Our server was wonderful! Our food was OMG soooo good. If you go you must try the corn beef hash. And the the biscuts are huge and so soft. Plus the gravy was just the right thickness. And we even met the owner. She was a sweetheart. One of my favorite places in San Pedro. They give Rexs a run for their money.

I was excited to come here, had heard nothing but good reviews. I ordered the Eggs Benedict after seeing them in a photo. Wasnt the greatest, the hollandaise sauce was weird and chunky. My egg was totally over cooked and I was damn near eating a hard boiled egg on top of ham and an English Muffin.

I want to like Gaffey Street Diner more than I do. The food is good but not great, but the service is uneven to the point of being neglectful. No one should have to wait...and wait...and wait...to have their coffee refilled during breakfast. Alas, that was my fate.

The food used to be so good :( Im not quite sure but it seemed like new owners and unfortunately food quality and taste went down. Everything in the breakfast burrito was undercooked and I was told it was an additional $4 for egg whites substitution in my plate.

Very open and spaced out. You dont have to squeeze between seats or tables or be so close you can hear the private conversation in the next booth. I love it. Very clean, no smells, and customer service is GREAT. The biscuit is HUGH.

Perfect atmosphere! Parking may be confusing to access, but service is very friendly, caring and dedicated!! The root beer float is a must if you go!!!! Very affordable and delicious indeed.
