I love this place! But not for the Chicken Katsu. I know, weird right? I love their barbecued meats, they come paired with macaroni salad if you order a combo meal. The chicken and short ribs over white rice pairs great in between the bites of their creamy well done cold macaroni salad. Mind you, there is nothing dainty, or nuanced or (frankly) healthy in much of their menu. However you get the sense that this is simple down home comfort food. Meant to completely satisfy your stomach while lulling you into a quiet food comma. They cook the chicken until it has a delicious skin and the meat inside remains tender and sweet. The sauce on the short ribs is gentle in sweetness but has a pleasant smokiness underneath the main flavors. The macaroni salad is really delicious. Even the temperature adds something crisp to the sweetness of what I assume must be mayonnaise. Their rice bowls and of course spam masubi are also great winners, especially if you have never indulged the taste of fried Spam. I just made myself hungry folks! Oh! and never forget the Siracha.
