I wish I could give this place for a minus star. Got here a few days ago, ordered mango lassi and plain lassi along with other dishes. The mango lassi was luke warm and tasted too sour, while the other lassi was tasted fine and cold. Told the server that the mango lassi didnt taste right. She didnt apologise, instead we got told it is because of the mango puree. ...Seriously..? I guess she never had mango puree before or just dont know what is mango puree. Mango puree shouldnt taste sour; if so, its not a good one. If she blamed for yogurt, maybe some people understand, but well, that sourness and the luke warm temperature means its been made far too long ago and could make someone sick. For long story short, we got a new lassi, not the mango flavor, and it wasnt luke warm. Still tasted a bit sour than what it should be, so I guess the yogurt they used on that day is quite old one.

Swaad is a lovely neighborhood gem and a great addition to San Jose. Not too expensive and parking spaces are easy to find alongside the nearby Backesto Park. Im not an expert on Indian food, so I cant comment on authenticity, but it has always tasted great to me. The atmosphere is just right for a neighborhood place, with a small dining area that is clean and relatively quiet if youre away from the kitchen. Tables have tablecloths but the feel is still pretty casual. Staff is friendly and comes by regularly to attend to customers. Its in a residential area near Japantown that is relatively safe.

A genuine review.... we ordered Chicken soup, Sheek Kabab and lamb biryani... chicken soup is average, Sheek at it low level, seems like frozen and not fresh. Me n my wife went to this restaurant. We ordered only one lamb biryani after barely ate anything since morning. I could have completed that biryani all alone. But guess what, me n my wife had it and d rice still remained. We never felt comfortable after eating biryani and specificly me didnt feel comfortable for hours. Genuinely I dont prefer it according to wwhat I see in d ratings....

Located off Empire and 13th it is your tiny, whole in the wall place! Love the ambience and service! Its a little pricey for they have big portions - Garlic Naan was 3.25 but delicious and worth it! Had paneer butter masala. Aloo Gobi, Indian salad, samosa , stuffed paratha ( they have good variety ) and tea! Rice was okay. I would give 4.5 stars for food and ambience. Have been there about 3-4 times and reduced 0.5 stars for not having a lot of variety for veggie lovers!

A cozy, little hole in the wall and like many such places has wonderful and authentic food. I went several times, once with a friend from India who confirmed. This is food that is not crazy spicy but flavorful - every dish I have tried had several layers of flavor. Great naan (several different kinds( and papadum. Must try: Baigan K Bhurtha (clay oven baked eggplant - smokey and rich taste). Excellent vegetarian options. Fast service even when the place is full.

A truly excellent indian food restaurant in a small San Jose neighborhood. You have got to try the aloo gobi (best I have EVER had). Any of the Kormas are also a winner. Some of the key winning elements: 1) very good meat quality 2) tasty sauces that are actually made spicy when you ask for them spicy 3) friendly service. I want to emphasize that this restaurant is properly good, not just neighborhood good.

This is a small indian restaurant with limited seating outside as well , located near Downtown San Jose. The area is opposite a park , but might give you the creeps. Once you are in, food usually tastes good. I love the chai, malai kofta and the pakora. Its also a busy take out place. Food arrives fast. Parking is limited in the restaurant parking lot. But you can find parking outside the restaurant.

This is not Sunnyvale or Santa Clara, so we were not expecting a great Indian restaurant, but actually it was not bad. We started with Vegi Samosa which was really good. I had Saag Paneer and my husband had Chicken Korma. We both liked what we had. The interior was clean and welcoming. The servers were attentive and friendly. Nice find in the middle of residential neighborhood! We will come back!

Very fresh and tasty and very fast. Our waitress was very attentive and brought food out immediately as each item was prepared. Lots of extra little touches here that were appreciated. The mango lassis are nice and sweet and very mangoey. This place is small but everyone who walked in during our stay was seated and waited on immediately. I would recommend this and eat here again.

The initial greeting and ordering took a while but once we received our drinks we were fine. We ordered one order of vege samosas and one order of chicken samosas. They were delightful! We also shared a lamb tika masala and onion stuffed naan. The tiki masala sauce was the best I have ever had. We will absolutely be back for more!

Continues to be my favorite Indian place in the area. The chicken saag is fantastic, papadum are crispy and flavorful, the chai is good, and the cauliflower naan are delicious. Very different flavors than most Indian places around here... Much more rich... probably a lot of ghee, but thats pretty authentic.

Amazing, authentic and classy to boot. I loved the entire birthday experince, my server was Shodie and I love her. She was so poetic and porfessional she made sure everything was 200×zzz more amazing. We love this place so much it is our new Indian spot. (We live in Berkley ). Total worth the commute....

DO NOT believe advertising about not compromising on spice. The naan was mediocre, bhaigan bharta was inferior to canned, malai kofta was second worst ever. No garnish, cilantro, or herbs/spices on any of the dishes. Only redeeming dish was the Daal. It was genuinely delicious. Save your money otherwise.

What an excellent restaurant. The owner is right there handing the kitchen duties. Hes super friendly. His food is amazing. The sauces are so on point its ridiculous. Everyone is in a great mood here. You have to try this place! Tell them Steven sent you! Dont forget to try the garlic Naan.

Food is tasty. Service is friendly. Chef takes his time to say hello to guest. Even though my cousins are half Nepalese I havent had much experience with its cuisine. Im in love with kukhuraku ledo and momo, cant wait to try the other dishes and to visit.

Of all the choices for his 18th birthday dinner my son (thankfully) choose Swaad. The consistency of their flavors, quality and service since they opened in 15 made it a no brainier. He says it will be one of the places he misses when he heads down to UCLA.

The most amazing Indian food Ive had in a long time! The service is fast and friendly. The menu is a little short but everything weve tried on there is delicious! Also recommend getting a naan, its totally worth it: soft, chewy with a crispy exterior! Yum!

Absolutely outstanding. I thought everything I had was spot on. Maybe my palette is not as refined as some of the others that gave lesser stars, but I love this place. I crave this place and eat here 2-3 times a month for lunch while I am working downtown.
