Fettuccini alfredo with mushrooms should not cost over $20! Do not go here, the portions are tiny and everything is WAY OVERPRICED. You can find at least 20 better places in San Franciscos Little Italy to eat than this place. For starters the Caprese salad had a half of a small tomato, half of a mozzarella ball, 3 basil leaves and a dusting of red onion and it was nearly $13. It was not memorable at all. My Chicken Marsala had about 4 oz of chicken, 2 oz of prosciutto, half of a potato and a palmful of spinach and cost $30!!! It tasted just slightly above average. I felt so cheated after paying over $100 for two with one beer apiece and two waters that it put a damper on my entire trip. Being from Boston but living in the LA area now I can rattle off 100 Italian restaurants in the Boston, LA and New York area that are better in taste and value. I will never recommend this place to anybody. Rose Pistola, for example, across the street has a better ambiance and food.

Ever been to a restaurant where party of 2 dine, served nicely and by the end of the meal, the server decides his own tip? Yes, it is this restaurant! I thought he wrote down for a suggestion only but when I asked him to run my credit card, he filled up the tip space with his own handwriting. For me it was amusing and left me a rude impression of this establishment. I am working in a restaurant myself and this is what the server not aware of. Probably he judged me and my boyfriend from our attire and assuming us to be that customer who doesnt know how to tip, but even so, this practice is not correct. Because I work in a restaurant that even not charged gratuity for party of 10. Gratuity is always optional. Just because I felt he put his own price reasonably, and I was about to give him the same amount anyway, I signed the copy. But, it doesnt mean I am a satisfied and will return or suggest this restaurant to anyone else.

North Beach Restaurant is a Tuscany inspired place. Welcomed by a very friendly manager/owner I proceeded to de-construct a cold starter of Carpaccio & Home Cured Prosciutto di Parma, a great way to initiate the meal. That was followed by plain presented home-made Ravioli Toscana, a 9/10 dish. There were four gigantic ravioli only, but each of them was as big as 5 square inches!!! The ragù meaty sauce and their filling were yummy and succulent. To finish I got, as suggested by the friendly, assertive and professional waiter, the Cold Zabaglione & Fresh Strawberries, a great way to top up this opiparous treat. A strong Wi-Fi signal is available and table service is great. On other topic, the internal deco needs a bit of a revamp, but who cares when the food is that good!!!

I just called to ask if we needed a reservation to get in tonight, and the host who answered the phone was extremely rude and arrogant. He said, sounding irritable, "I dont have any reservations until 9:30". Having been a hostess myself, I understand that reservation slots might be full, but there is still room for walk-ins, so I asked, "So no chance of getting in before 9:30, or thats just reservations?" He replied with an attitude, "I said were booked til 9:30. Its Valentines." I said, "Yeah, thats why Im asking." This is our first impression of North Beach Restaurant, and needless to say, we lost any desire to eat there. I hope the manager sees this review and teaches the host (who was working at 7:40pm on 2/14/17) something about respect and customer service.

Absolutely wonderful! New to SF we had a difficult time finding an elegant Italian restaurant. Google and Yelp lead us to pizza and or take-out. Dressed for a nice intimate and romantic dinner we nearly called it quits for diner food. After walking and then driving we decided to find any restaurant open and stumbled upon North Beach! Service was upbeat, pleasantly humorous and all of our questions were answered with care. We fell in love with a new wine after our waiter carefully sought out our likes and dislikes. Our dinners were rich in texture, creamy and the meat was tender enough to melt in your mouth. We will definitely return within the week.

North Beach Restaurant quite literally topped my charts for Italian fare in San Francisco. I was able to easily make a reservation on OpenTable the night before. Upon arrival, my brother and I were seated without hesitation. Our waiter was courteous and a total boss to boot. He provided great recommendations, kept the bread + wine coming, and really rounded out an excellent experience. I had veal while my brother had chicken livers. Both dishes were large in their portions but delicious nonetheless. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a traditional Italian dining experience in North Beach.

Short-to-the-point. I never write reviews, but the food and service was absolutely HORRIBLE. My friend and I truly felt that we were on an episode of Restaurant Impossible. Our server and the manager of the restaurant both were yelling at guests out of irritation because they were closing soon. The food had absolutely no flavor, a $1 frozen sauteed spinach from Walmart would seriously have been better, our roasted potatoes were so hard you couldnt put a knife through, and our "filet mignon" cuts had no seasoning/salt/pepper and was actually not even a cut of filet-both our portion sizes were way different also.

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. GO GO GO GO GO THERE! Alexander our waiter was beyond words, and so was the entire experience. It is beautiful downstairs in the candle lit wine cellar, they treat you like royalty, they clearly love working there and making you happy. Appetizers exquisite, wines world class, and food and desserts exactly what you would get at the most expensive restaurants in Paris and Venice or New York. Very old world in many respects. Best place weve ever been. Thanks to all, especially Alexander. Mark and Michelle from Sacramento

OK with a nice atmosphere and great location. We were there on a Friday night. I will not go back because there are so many great restaurants in SF, no reason to pay these prices for OK food, Ok service ... nothing special. I work nearby. The best part were the folks greeting us when we arrived. I mentioned three times we had two birthdays at our table and not even a skinny candle was placed on the two deserts that were ordered by the bday kids. We came for a special event and they showed us that they are not special. Find better.

This is the worse place for kids. Food was average and service was horrible! Then, after two hours to have a starter and main course, the waiter told us that our kids were "bothering" the table near, who left their kids at home to have an adult meal. Before you wonder, my kids were quiet, playing an iPad on silent, but were talking about their MindCraft game. This restaurant is complete crap and is only a trap for tourists. Avoid it, there are way better restaurants in the area.

Very nice staff and very nice place overall. We were a group of 12 and a big table down in the cellar. Some of us were French, as was the waiter which made communication easy. The bread was delicious and the starters were too. I ordered Gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce which was a good (but slightly small) dish for my main. Since we were a birthday group it was nice to go to a fancy place, but I felt the value for money ratio could have been a bit better.
