My coworkers and I went here for happy hour recently. We called the day before because there was a big group of us. The host was confused when we said we reserved a table, because they dont take reservations for happy hour. Not sure if the big table the host took us to was reserved for us or it was coincidentally available. The happy hour drink prices were reasonable, but they were watered down. Even the wine tasted like it was watered down. But the food was delicious. Theres a variety of plates to choose from, and the platter had many of the appetizers (two of each) for $13. What I didnt like about dining there was that it was so hot! I know that many places in the city do not have A/C, but it wouldve been nice to get at least some fans to get the air moving. It was hot and stuffy.. Luckily, someone opened the door to the lobby of the hotel that the restaurant is connected to, so there was some breeze. If you dine here for happy hour, I suggest getting the beer and the food only. Dont waste your money on the well drinks and wine.

I ate here right after this place was reincarnated from Little Joes. Since their liquor license was still pending, I will have to write this trying to imagine a beer next to my plate instead of the glass of ice water. There were only a few other people in the restaurant, and whenever a new group came in, they would end up leaving when they realized there was no alcohol. There are TVs behind the bar, but the view of the screens is partially blocked to the rest of the restaurant by the lighting fixtures at the bar. I had a margarita pizza which was decent-sized and tasted good--crispy on the bottom just like it should be. The salads and pasta dishes were not bad either. The staff was very friendly and attentive. EDIT: They have a liquor license. Ill be back soon.

I feel like I could have had a better experience here had I just come for the drinks, and not necessarily dinner to catch up with a friend... We stopped by for dinner, since we were feeling pasta/Mediterranean food, but the atmosphere was very noisy on a Wednesday evening, that it was hard to make conversation without yelling at each other. I ordered the chicken marsala, which was decent, though perhaps its SF, but it was double what I would have paid for that portion/quality. I did appreciate that the servers were very kind and let us stay a while after dinner without pressuring us, and that the food came incredibly quickly. Overall though, a little expensive for the quality of food, and not the best place to have a dinner conversation.

Sitting on the corner of 5th and Mission is SOMA Restaurant & bar. Walking in you are greeted by warm lighting and a large bar area. The decor is very pleasing to the eye. Nice classic looking restaurant. Good place to have a beer or enjoy a pizza. And let me tell you abou the pizza. We sampled three of them when we ate here. The margherita pizza, the mushroom pizza and the prosciutto pizza. All three were excellent with the prosciutto pizza coming out on top. We also got an order of the gnocchi which was in an Alfredo sause which was a bit heavy but still was very good. The next time I go back I will make sure to order some of the mediterranean fare which is what they are known for.

Things started off a bit strange. We walked in and the bartender kind of growled that they were not open for lunch. I asked what time they did open for lunch. He said noon. I looked at my phone and it was 11:59. Fortunately before we could run out the restaurant wait staff came in and took over. Sorry I did not get any names. Service and food was amazing for that point on. The bread was fresh out of the over and the dipping sauce was amazing. We ran out of it before we finished finished figuring out all the flavors in it. I had the Vegetarian Wrap and my husband had the Penne Chicken. Both were very tasty and very good value for lunch in San Francisco.

Tried it for happy hour since it was close to our hotel. The mojito ($5) was very decent and the had a good selection of beer ($4) for happy hour prices (especially nice when you dont drink "beer" like Coors light & Budweiser) To eat we only tried the tzatziki with pita but it was nice! This is not a culinary experience or and Instagram-moment type of place, this is a regular pub with a great happy hour both drink & food wise. I would go back.

My boyfriend and i went to Soma on a whim while visiting for a special event. the Staff were cordial, and made us both feel right at home. We ordered hummus and pita for a starter and the hummus was perfect, the pita was freshly made, just amazing. We also tried their white cake desert and were exceedingly pleased with it. Great food, good service, and the decor was very nice. It also helped that the restaurant wasnt very loud.

Unfortunately stopped here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I ordered blueberry pancakes and got horrible plane ones. After complaining I got one fresh blueberry pancake instead of two. And they charge you a fixed service amount of 18%, probably because they dont get any tip in the usual way with their lack of service. I still regret the decision to have eaten there, I hope others wont make the same mistake as I did.

Good food. I ordered pizza, calamari, and a piece of chocolate cake. The pizza was good but the bottom layer of crust was too thin so the pizza bent but it was great other than that. The calamari was pretty good but the chocolate cake was hard to cut through with a spoon. There were layers of fudge that made it hard to cut through and it comes with a very sweet raspberry sauce on the side.

Poor- everything. Im not a picky reviewer. Here is my opinion: The bread was plain, the dip for it was sweet, and no butter or garlic or anything. Calimari was rubbery and obviously not fresh- something I expect when on the coast I would think. Main course was on par with a store bough frozen meal. I didnt get sick, but there wasnt much else to it. Oh, house cab was sub par too.

This side of town gets a bit sketchy at night, but the pizza is pretty good (doughy crust) and the gnocchi is great. The staff was quite attentive. Nothing about this bar/restaurant really stands out in terms of decor or ambiance. I can see this as a place to grab drinks after work, but it feels too much like a hotel bar for me.
