Ah, Waterfront. Are you friend or foe? I love this dive bar. You roll in, get some reasonably priced beers, maybe the most delicious burger youve ever eaten, and proceed to have a night to remember! Ill put $10 into the jukebox and settle in on the outdoor patio if I can finagle a spot with a friend. An old one or a new one! Because you always meet someone new at the Waterfront! The bartenders are remarkably tolerant and the patrons range from student to professional, 21 to 40 or more? They all come together in this odd but personable mass of late night drinkers looking to relax and avoid the judgy eyes of other swankier brighter bars. Theres only one toilet stall for all the ladies, but oh- dont we bond in there, ladies? Sitting near the pool table might mean you get knocked in the head by a pool cue, but Drunk Guy probably didnt mean it! Shake it off! Übers are plentiful as the warm, fuzzy, blinking crowd drifts out into the street after closing time. Didnt we have a good collective time, friends? Yes, I think we did.

Im sad to say that I cant jump on the best burger in the world band wagon this place seems to be driving... and Im always down for a good wagon ride! I am a sucker for a good burger. Generally, I will start with my staple burger; lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, jalapeno with American or cheddar cooked medium with a side of thousand island. I figure you do the most simple correctly then perhaps you do the complicated well too! Well..... The fries were good. :) My vodka tonic that accompanied my burger wet my whistle pretty good. Guess that is one thing they do right, I mean since they are the oldest saloon in San Diego it is expected they know how to make a drink! The staff was a little abrasive but it was the Saturday before St. Patricks and was a little busy, so that is understandable. I would definitely come here again for the drinks and I hear they give popcorn out at happy hour... and I love me some popcorn...

The Waterfront is known for being one of the oldest bars in San Diego and therefore I had to check it out. It was opened in 1933 and I think thats the last time it was renovated. Its a full on dive bar full of locals and motorcyclists. The best seats to get are the outside tables, so you can get some fresh air. Its not as touristy as I thought it would be, which I enjoyed. However, I am probably considered a tourist because I am a transplant to San Diego. They have great mules. I ordered the chili out of reading another review and it was just OK. I would go back again, but only for day or early night drinks. Its two blocks away from the heart of Little Italy, so it would be a good place to stop before or after getting dinner there.

Good visit on a day the Bears played the Chargers IN San Diego. Lots of Bears fans around, most at the game, but some here. Chargers bar still took care of us. Almost even tricked the bartender into ringing the Bell when the Bears scored. LOL Free jello shots every score (Chargers). Happy hour had free pizza. Held us over til we ordered wings. They were standard wings. Nothing to complain, nor brag about. At least they didnt lynch us Bears fans when Da Bears won. It seemed like there was a shift change at halftime of Monday Night Football and the second shift was notably less friendly and less attentive. Good sports bar and sports bar environment. Still an enjoyable time despite second half staff.

I like this place sometimes, but a little pricey. Im only leaving two stars because I got fooled by their Wednesday night food special advertisement....it says "so cheap its basically stealing", ORDER FIVE AND THEN 12 DOLLARS LATER....come to find out theyre 2.50 each....theyre the size of a white caste. So its actually more than if had purchased a cheesburger. Rip off. STAY AWAY FROM WEDNESDAY SLIDERS. And for that matter, if Monday and Tuesday specials are anything like Wednesday. Stay away from Waterfront unless you need a drink.

I am a snooty burger fanatic, I have eaten at all the "top" burger joints in San Diego and this one definitely made it to my top 10 list. I had the Jalapeno Burger (not sure what the name is exactly) and my wife had the Patty Melt, both had amazing flavor. Waitress told us to get their tots, talk about an explosion in my mouth, I HIGHLY SUGGEST IT. The place is super divey and always busy from what I hear, we had some difficulty finding a table. A little on the dirty side but I put that aside for the amazing food. WOULD COME AGAIN

Its only the BEST BAR IN TOWN! Look, Im from San Diego but all of my co workers live internationally and we are a bunch of rag tag dirty shipwreck diver SALVOR trash! They have always treated us great here and half of them are considering becoming American citizens just so they can move to San Diego and come to this bar every day for the rest of there lives. Staff rocks, girls are pretty, drinks are heavy and they make the gods honest best burger in the world! Come visit the OLDEST bar in San Diego. You wont regret it!

This place is fantastic. They have a very good breakfast burrito called "Santa Maria". Anytime I have an early flight, or I return to San Diego, I stop here. It vouches to be one of the oldest bars in San Diego. Its divey and fantastic. It gets pretty busy at night. Dont be intimidated by motorcycles parked out front, it can be a biker bar at times, but its a very friendly place with lots of different types of people enjoying at the same time!

Rad place to go before or after sailing. As dive bars go, this one hits on all cylinders. Plus it is historic to boot! I love that theyre open early for breakfast or an eye opener back in my eye opening days. Staff is awesome and always helpful. It can get a bit crowded at times so make sure you come prepared to stand around and wait for some seating to open up.

The atmosphere is great, the place is well spaced out so if you want to be away from the actual bar you can just go in the back next to the pool table and games. They have a good selection of beers and the fries are amazing! There was a special on the street tacos so we got a bunch of those too, delicious! Will definitely visit again when Im in San Diego!

Fun little dive bar which we migrated to after finishing up at Ballast Point in Little Italy. Had to sample some of the recently purchased/sold off Ballast Point hard liquor. Sampled the Ballast Point Gin in a Gin & Tonic (very good) and had several White Russians made with the Ballast Point Horchata Vodka. Hot damn, those go down smooth.

The best jalapeños bacon burger in town! Whenever I want a good burger, no surprises I come here and can always count on Waterfront to deliver. Also has very good Bloody Mary. For happy hour they do free something, came on a grill cheese, crab, instant noodle ... anything is possible. Love the vibe too, so divey! All sorts of people.

Very fun experience. The food is delicious and its very nice. I recommend going at night when a piano player is there. I have an uncle that lived in Italy for two years, and he ate with MANY families. He says that was some of the most authentic Italian food he has ever had. It is expensive and very professional but an awesome place.
