Saw this place showcased on a TV news segment and it looked cool, and the food menu looked in the vein of what we like. The feel is somewhere between a college sports bar and Hamiltons (the dangling tap handles overhead). Portions are huge, and the food has copious cheese and bacon. We ordered the High Dive Nachos and the Kraken Burger (Peanut Butter and Jelly Siracha Burger) My wife got a soft drink and I got a beer. The server was very attentive and offered numerous refills for my wifes soda. Food was fairly priced for the portion size and quality. Beer list is above average. It is cool because they give you a list of upcoming beers when the current run out, so you know what to expect. Prices are decent for regular price $5-7 range, happy hour is only $2 off. Bartender seemed to have an attitude. I asked him for $3 in quarters to play the pinball machines after our dinner and he shorted me (either he cant count, or thought I wouldnt check). The pinball machines are awesome. It is rare to find a video arcade that still has them much less a bar. They had 4 machines and they are all very well maintained (i.e. level, all of the targets work) and a big plus for having a vintage machine as well. Id say that alone was a big draw to come back here.

Good selection of beers on tap & bottled, local suds & interesting imports as well as the normal stuff. Fun atmosphere. One word of warning: I am pretty sure I had my Credit Card info lifted here and so has a friend. I doubt it is the staff, the problem is their tab board is within close view (and reach!) of a couple corner bar stools, unless they have changed the board location since my last stop. One incident wont stop me from going there, I just pay cash now.

I visited High Dive Grill on a recent visit to San Diego and I really loved it. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was great and the food delicious! I had The Kraken, a 1lb Angus patty topped with bacon, grilled onions, Gorgonzola and sandwiched between two Sriracha infused PB&J sandwiches, and OMG it was so very delicious! It is a lot of burger so youll probably want to share this with someone if you can. I will definitely go back on my next visit.

Came here on a Sunday evening for the $2 taco special! Dont know if theyre keeping it, but the fish tacos were AMAZING along with some IPA on tap. Dont really like their specificity with the tap beers in how youre only allowed to drink in accordance to the rounds of glasses you get. Service was pretty slow, but the servers themselves were super sweet and kind! Might be back again just for the beers!

My wife and I come here often to grab some food, and I have to say the service is excellent. Not to mention they serve such a variety of foods, the kids will be happy. In addition you can decide if you want to eat healthy or not, sometimes I grab a salad other times I just need a pizza and a beer. But heck anyone who comes here is gonna love the place, its owned by a bunch of great guys.

Not a bad place. Has a nice outdoor seating area. And the fries were delicious! But the burger was only okay. I got the burger that came with pulled pork on it and the juicy pulled pork made the burger seem dry. Then I realized it was overcooked. I shoulda ordered up just some fries, especially since they have some apps that are fries covered in Gorgonzola cheese...

Very good high-end dive bar (even though that doesnt really go together - I like the concept). I really want to try their peanut butter and jelly hamburger one of these days, but I was too chicken to try it this time, so I just got a Chicken Sandwich which was great! I got fruit on the side, but I should have gotten fries, because my friends fries were amazing!

It is rare that a new place opens up and you immediatly feel like it has been part of San Diego for ever. The bar staff is awsome they make every effort to make you feel part of their family and the food is amazing. The burgers have to be the best in san diego and you have to try the chocolate cheese cake there is no other word for it but orgasmic!!!

My fiance and I love this place! Some of the best burgers in town and their giant soft pretzel is the best! A great selection of beer on tap, good cocktails, chill atmosphere and friendly staff all make this one of our favorite places to grab a burger and a beer. Oh, and they have a Kiss pinball machine... What else do you need!?

I simply go here for the beer, they have an excellent collection of top craft brews, too heavy on the Ballast Point side though for a true tap house. I really like that they show the next 2 beers on deck, makes you really want to come back. Laid back place, super nice staff. Oh, above average food as well.

Wish this place was closer to me or I lived closer to it. Either would work for me. Fun funky decor with some video games to play. A nice patio, friendly staff. As far as food selection goes, its the usual bar/pub fare. Go in on Wednesday for $6 pizza. They also serve breakfast on the weekend.

A basic bar, with great personality! Look up when you enter, every wall space and window is decorated. Food was excellent, will have to go back to double check that! Servers were friendly, and funny! At least ours. Left thinking "too bad its not closer to home."

Cool atmosphere but waitstaff is not great. Most nights youre better off going to the bar direct for your drinks than waiting for a server to get you set up. Once you have a tab rolling with a server, youll feel obligated to order through them, and gooooooood luck

We walked in and were greeted right away, told we could sit where we like. The server was prompt and friendly. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. I dont know how they can make it so crispy while ensuring the chicken thats juicy, but they do! Will return.

Attentive and goofy bartender Ken, kept this a fun and interesting atmosphere. Grab a seat by the bar, hangout and order some grub. Pork sandwich goes great with a Left Coast IPA, but thats just me...lots of other local brews to choose from.

the beers are great, as youd expect, the pub grub less so. a "pizza" was more like spongy bread with some toppings from the frozen vegetable aisle. the decor is funky in a good way, and the sports nonsense is less annoying than youd expect.

Main dishes are great, avoid the salads. Be aggressive about seating as it can fill up quick on weekend nights. Also...there is a urinal and toilet in the mens room. If you just need to stand, dont lock the door and hog both.

Locals watering hole, recently Ive started eating more breakfast and lunches here. The people here are so friendly and the beer selection on tap is pretty good. I can also get my sports fill as well as get my pinball on.

Great beer, great food, great decor, and awesome staff. What else needs to be said? One of San Diegos best neighborhood bars. Not the biggest place, however, so when it gets busy it can get a little uncomfortably full.
