I came here with a group of coworkers after a fun night playing Pictionary at #1 around the corner. We came in around 10:30pm and I told the waiter that we had a group of 6 people. He set up a table for us, and we were sat quickly. There were about 3 other tables filled in the restaurant. The waiter, who was the only one there besides the cook, was very unfriendly. We are all a group of hospitality employees who are very outgoing and are very friendly, so we joke around a lot and like to have fun. We spoke with our waiter in this friendly manner, and he was NOT having it. The waiter came by at one point and told us we had to settle down and be quieter because WE were the cause of two tables of people leaving the restaurant. I highly doubt that. Yes, 6 people talking at a table is going to cause some extra noise, but we were in no way being disruptive. Really uncalled for to say that to us. The food was okay. I got hash browns as my side and they were really undercooked. No one was really overwhelmed with happiness about their meal, but nothing was bad. Bad service makes for a bad meal. Sorry!

Today was my first time visiting crest cafe, it looked like such a nice place to try. We got seated immediately by a friendly lady. Then Jason came by to take our drink order did not make us feel welcome. I know he was busy but, a smile can do. Then we placed our orders. My fiance got a meat lovers omelet and myself got the chilli vegtable mess. I was impressed because the food didnt take that long to come out of the kitchen but, our first bite was horrible the side order of black beans that came as an option with the omelet was bad (sour) they replaced it with pinto beans by a different server. My food on the other was straight from a can, nothing was home cooked, not even the so called chilli. The food had no flavor, it was so bland. I can microwave food at home by myself and not have to pay. I am sad to say that we will not return to the facility, there are other restaurants out there with better food for the same price.

I like this place, I really do. Every time a guest is in town, I take them for breakfast. My biggest (really, only) complaint is that they consistently put into their meals ingredients that are not on the menu. I ordered straight from the menu, but had to twice return my plate because it had additional ingredients (that I dont like) mixed in with my otherwise simple dish. The waiter seemed to be getting frazzled with me. He said he wasnt going to put in another request until I told him exactly what I wanted. I wanted EXACTLY what was on the menu. Nothing difficult about that. They just made it difficult and kept adding unmentioned ingredients (i.e., veggies I dislike or am allergic to). This same thing happened to a friend on another visit, with a different dish.

WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD. The food was not bad but when I found a massive hair on my food and made the waitress aware (she even asked me for the hair so she could see it) she still tried to charge me for the food. The plate was more than half full and I literally had to ask her if she had ever been to a restaurant before because anywhere else (even in dirt poor third world countries) they would comp you for RUINING your appetite with a nasty, thick black hair in your food. Amazingly, she still charged me for my coffee the second time she brought the bill. I paid for my girlfriends food but sadly she had to be the one that comforted me when I left the place angry. NEVER COMING BACK.

Should have read the other reviews before trying this place. Very rude staff. Waiting to be seated with no one ahead of us, we declined repeated suggestions to sit at the bar. There was a table for 2 open. When directed to the bar, again, we asked if we might be seated at the open table, and the server pointed at a sign that said "Wait to be seated". I asked "what are we waiting for? There is no one else on the wait list." He just turned away from us without reply. We left. Even if we had waited until they let us sit down, he would have been our server, so we probably avoided an bad experience. Not going back.

Longstanding local favorite! I have been going to Crest Cafe since I moved to San Diego 25 years ago. The food is always good, the servers are always friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Its a rather small place, so be prepared for a wait if you go during peak time. I LOVE the breakfast burrito - may favorite one in town. Really good burgers too. Its an institution - few restaurants survive this long. It can be a bit noisy when its busy, so dont go hear if you want quiet conversation. If you want a good meal in a fun atmosphere - definitely check it out!

Saw Crest Cafe on Food Networks Dines, Drive-ins and Dives. Great food and great service! Extensive menu with local wines and beers. Had the Creme Brûlée French Toast and Robinson ave Omelette. Awesome! Even though it was busy, service staff was friendly and quick. Wait for two on a Sunday at 1030 was about 15 minutes. Good place for parties of 2,3 or even 4. Anything beyond that would be challenging due to the size and table layout, but I am sure they would make every effort to accommodate you. Definite must-eat in San Diego and we will be back.

In my opinion this place was always awesome until this morning 24 June 2017 when I was attended by a very rude woman an old lady totally disrespectful. I was picking up on order to go but I decided to cancel and leave the place because I dont like being treated like that and I dont do the same with all the people. I went there as a customer twice and it was awesome but I will never come back in the morning because I dont want to dare this ugly witch. This woman shouldnt be working at the crest Cafe because this is not what Crest Cafe is about.

Been there 3 times (hoping they improved) and every time was SUPER DISAPPOINTED with both food and service, Got $5 off for bad service and didnt even want to come back to use it. Stay away. Although the location is perfect... it is a crime to have this place under the current ownership/management! My first restaurant review ever but I had to say! PS: I also had hair in my food, which was a chicken pot pie... the pie was disgusting, cold and more watery than a soup... and looked like someone vomited into that pie. Nasty!!!

The service was subpar with the server putting her finger almost in my food to point out the butter in the creme brulee french toast as creme brulee, lol. I had to ask the manager who said the creme brulee taste came from the syrup which the cook forgot to put on it. I then requested it from the manager. My husbad`s salmon burger had no taste of tarragon, capers or horseradish as the description listed. It didnt even taste like salmon --only moist cardboard. It appears that they ride on Guy Fieris name only.
