Our service was horrible. Our waitress acted as though we were an inconvenience to her and got an attitude when asked anything about the menu. Once our food came there was a hair in mine...and she had disappeared. We waived another gal over and she was very nice and as we were asking for refills and sides of ranch our waitress returned. They both left and when she came back with my ranch her thumb was submerged in the dish it came in. Her supervisor had come in during that time and apologized and then the waitress was very different in front of her supervisor she was nicer and didnt ask us to pass anything down the row to each other. Once we finished I ordered a blackberry pie/crumble to go. Once at home I took a bite out of it only to realize a very long piece of hair was baked inside and was now in my mouth. I puked it out right away and spit as much as I could. This was my families first and last time ever going to this establishment. HORRIBLE> !!!

Ive been going to the Black Bear Diner for several months. The food ranges from good to great, with the usual allowances for taste and recipes (the coleslaw is blander than I like it, the teas and iced teas are nothing to write home about). Prices are comparable to other local restaurants, but the portions are larger, some are much larger. Often, I can split an entrée with my wife, something the servers are accustomed to and helpful with. Particular favorites: the prime rib special, when they have it; the rib-eye steak; their taco salad is enormous. I see a lot of negative reviews with regards to time and the staff. Thats the BBDs one downside -- theyre slammed during peak dining times. We go on the off-peak times and have never failed to have competent, helpful, timely, and friendly service from the BBD.

Im known for being a generous big tipper but these people do not understand what good customer service is. You will be profiled, you will be snarled at, you will get the stink eye! They dont appear clean in like using the same uniform for weeks at a time and they dont have personalities. There was flies en-circling a waitress. The old hag waitress yelled at a traveling customer 3 times. They seem to cater more towards locals and not to travelers, city people or happening people. You might want to keep going 80mph and just get your gas! I went one way through Idaho and came back the other way and got profiled twice! Im heavily diverse racially with light tan skin but I do have black hair. It is sad that people dont get out of the house or countryside enough.

We found the restaurant over a year ago through an advertisement about their prime rib specials. Ever since then, we have gone back time and time again. We have become very loyal customers. We have celebrated our Birthdays there and absolutely love their food and staff. The Owners are some of the nicest people you would ever meet and always strive to make your meal perfect. The staff is so friendly and just give superior service. We would very highly recommend trying this restaurant out not only for dinner, but their sweet cream pancakes are the best I have ever had and you can have them all day, if you want. We just cant speak highly enough about this place. The Cleverdon Family

First and only visit was for breakfast. Ordered "fresh fruit" and my girlfriend was served a bowl of fruit that was less than fresh. Found half an earwig in the bowl!! When the manager came over he said they now order their fruit pre-processed and chopped, and thats probably where the bug came from. He did offer a free dessert to take home, which was appreciated. Got home and opened the to-go box to find ANOTHER bug in the box. Yuck!! Sent an email to the corporate office telling them they might have an insect problem, never heard anything back. Service at the diner was awesome. But cleanliness is now questionable. Unless you like bugs in your food.

The food was good but the service was horrible. My wife and I went to dinners here and the manager was the one who waited on us, she took our drink order and then told us our waitress would be by to take our food order. We got our drinks and never were offered any refills whatsoever. Come to find out after we had our food order taken by the manager as well the reason the waitress couldnt take our order and the manager had to is she was flirting with and older customer right in front of his wife. The entire time we were there they were making snarky comments about us loud enough for us to hear as well. We will NEVER be going back to this place

Mothers Day disaster. I actually was looking forward to eating here. 40 min wait was 85. They gave gave us a free bearclaw due to how busy they were. Turned out to be the only good food brought to our table. Waitress was kind to pre-order the toddlers pancakes she she could eat. She never put the order in. Ii ordered the steak and egg special (med-rare) . It came barely warm and the steak was raw still cold from the ice box it was stored in. We felt held hostage on Mothers Day. I was so willing to look past the impending disaster that started our experience here. I should have took heart with the customers leaving who were complaining.

Had dinner here for first time. Very disappointed. Fish & chips were very good.; cole slaw was bland. Had coupon for 1/2 off price of second meal. but, had to pay regular price of 10.99; plus we had to order 2 drinks at 2.69 each plus 20% tip because we were with group. Cost was $29. If I had not used the coupon and not had to order the drinks that we really didnt want, We would have paid $9.99 for the meal and the bill would have been $25. We waited over an hour for our meal. I think the mandatory 20% gratuity is excessive. Next time I will NOT use the coupon.

Husband and I have eaten at a number of Black Bear Diners in our travels and the food and service have always been uniformly excellent. We just recently got our own BBD in Boise (Idaho) and have eaten there at least once a month. As with any restaurant, some servers are better than others, but on the whole better than most other comparable eateries. We have never been displeased with the food, and I think Ive tried just about everything on the menu. Always clean, neat and organized. Cant say better than that. No hesitation in recommending Black Bear.

Worst service ever!!! Showed up at 7:30 for breakfast. The waitress didnt take our order until 15 minutes later...after that, didnt see the waitress or our food until 25 minutes later, a total of 50 minutes to get our food. I forgot mention, there were three waitresses and only 4 tables to serve, including ours. Ive never stiffed a server on a tip before but when she apologized, she also made an excuse why she forgot to put our order in. Oh yeah, the food, mediocre at best. NEVER GOING BACK.

Came here 8pm on a Monday, my wife ordered roast beef and I ordered fried chicken and they were both horrible. The roast beef was extremely dry and chewy it also had lots of fat in it. Baked potatoe was old fried chicken was old reheated junk. It actually made us both really sick that night. The server was nice but the food we had was horrid! We had Goodwood bbq right down the street, the previous night and it was way better I recommend going there instead.
