A very tasteless decor, inconsistent food taste which is generally mediocre, and if one happens to look into the kitchen, one would be alarmed. Almost always empty, though they have ratings on yelp that are higher than they deserve (??). To top it all, the gentleman serving from the kitchen is highly ill mannered. There are far better, authentic Indian restaurants that have better food, service, at same or slightly higher price. bye bye ashoka!

Mixed feelings about their buffet. I usually prefer hole-in-wall/mom-pop casual restaurants, but this one was too unclean. Good: butter chicken, papadum, fish pakora, clean water. Not so good: cleanliness from tablecloths to plates/utensils. For $10.91, I would prefer to pay $12+ at My Favorite Indian in San Ramon or $13.10 at Frontier Spice in Pleasanton Town Center.

Wow, some of the best Indian food Ive had in years. Definitely one of the best in the East Bay. You dont get a whole lot of ambiance and its not the cleanest, but the food more than makes up for it. We had the Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Korma and both were fantastic. Sauces with lots of flavor and heartiness and they know how to add in some spice. Will definitely be back.

Ashoka is my #1 choice for Indian cuisine in the Bay Area. Reasonable prices. Good service. Strip mall location isnt great - but I love the food. You can spend twice as much elsewhere and get food that is half as good.
