We have been frequent and loyal customers of this restaurant, however I will like to complain about tonights service which was absolutely horrific. We had to wait more than two hours to receive the food we had ordered for pick-up. We also did not receive the full order which we checked when we reached home. The food was also not well-cooked and somehow very cold even though we waited two hours? Odd, I thought the kitchen was busy which delayed the food, but the food was still cold? We have not received our full order multiple times before but we let it go as we enjoy the restaurant and its food. However, the horrific service and utter negligence by the front desk registrar and the kitchen staff today and many times before leads me to not eat at this restaurant again. This restaurant will lose many more customers in the future if you continue to ignore your customers and treat them badly. Good day, we wont be coming back.

This is our first time eating Indian cuisine, and we enjoyed it a lot. The portions were good for the price level. The various types of curry were not overbearing, and we liked how they allowed you to choose the spiciness level. What distinguishes this restaurant from the rest of its competitors would be the exceptional service; the staff was attentive and nice despite our unending questions. While I dont have a strong understanding in Indian cuisine to give you the proper insight as to whether you might enjoy this restaurant, I was very impressed. If anything, we would wish for the curry to be served a little warmer, but thats a minor factor. We would come here again.

Absolutely delicious. I got the special of the day the last serving in fact a fishermans stew. It had all of my favorite things: calamari, shrimp and fish in a delicious, spicy, creamy coconut? curry sauce. All plates are served with a banana leaf on top which is a nice touch. Rice was fluffy and light. My boyfriend had the special lamb burrito which was huge and well seasoned. Side sauces were meh, but Im not sure what was supposed to go on what. All service people were super friendly. I asked for the fishermans stew recipe. Cashier laughed but I was mostly serious - it was that good. One of the best curries Ive ever had.

4 of us along with 2 kids went to this place around 8:30 p.m.The receptionist added my name to the waiting list and said it would be 15 to 20 mins.We were waiting and then 5 mins later a similar size group came she added their name. After 10 mins the stupid receptionist goes on to assign the table to the people who came later,When I objected she starts to lie that there is another waiting list.I have seen them coming later and their name is after name...she still does that.. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE..THERE ARE MANY BETTER INDIAN RESTAURANTS THAN THIS CRAP IN SAN JOSE ..food is just average and low quality.

This is probably the best indian cuisine in south san jose. There is a wide variety of food offerings that you can find here. We always head to this place when we are lazy to cook to have some chicken kabobs or tandoori. Foods that i like: all grilled items like the kabobs etc are pretty good The south indian dishes like varieties of dosa , idly, etc are awesome. What i dont like : The boneless biryani is a bit coconut-y in flavor but their dum chicken biryani is not that great.

They have good clean South Indian food, which, ime, is hard to find. South Indian food is more vegetarian and light. North Indian food is more meat-based and heavier (8E also have NE food). I am also allergic to wheat and SI food is mostly made without wheat, except for the breads. Good masala dosa and idli sambar. The space is clean and attractive, bright and airy. Open kitchen. Friendly service. They gave us free papadams with dipping sauce. Free refills of sambar (soup).

Went here for dinner. Ordered the vada pav, salt lassi, okra curry, egg fried rice , kulcha and aloo kofta. The vada pav tasted good but IMO, the pav was coated with too much sweet sauce. The aloo kofta tasted sweet and weird. The okra didnt taste well. Egg fried rice , pulao and the kulcha tasted great. Cocktail idly was amazing. I have tasted dosas here before and have found them to be very good. I have decide to stick to south delicacies here.

We tried Manchuria dosa and utthappam. Very tasty. I always like Paneer Makhni here but today it was not good its ok. Mirchi was also not good it smelled like some old oil was used no taste at all and finally Regular Tomato Soup - No sweet in this. It was there hot with not taste at all. We were very hungry and able to complete the items quickly but none of them were up to the mark. May be its a busy Friday and Chef didnt care about the taste.

Really Bad Experience just like Mark pointed out, ordered butter chicken and the chicken is all red with food color and salty and kind of looks odd for butter chicken, forget the taste , when i look at it closely it was tandoori chicken pieces with skewer holes and tandoori spices put into butter chicken , probably leftover from previous day . Never expected something like this . Will never go or recommend to anyone .

Full disclosure, This is the first Indian Cuisine Ive ever tasted. But the SUPER helpful staff guided me and then described how my dish was prepared with a short lesson on regional differences. The subtle flavor and complimenting sweet spicy and even minty cilantro was amazing and I dont care if its "Authentic", good food, wait, Amazing food will always get good reviews.

"Just like home" says my friend thats born and raised in India. It looks and feels like a restaurant back in India. Well thats a good sign, the place looked modern and very well decorated. They do offer cocktails with an indian twist to it. We had ordered one but it was overly sweet (even for me in which I like sweet). They also offer Chinese-Indian dishes as well!

Ive eaten here many times, and the food is consistently delicious. Service is generally good if the place isnt too busy (and the service is always friendly, just sometimes a little harried). On some visits, food came out of the kitchen irregularly, instead of all at once, but the timing has improved and they seem to be past this. Great local place!

I have been to 8elements multiple times over the past few years. They have a large menu catering to South Indian and North Indian palates. They offer vegetarian options that are interesting and unique. I like their experimental dishes that pop up every once in a while on their menu. Their catering service is also pretty good. Recommended!

Amazing dishes.. the spices were blended well into the food and I expect that when I go here again. They give out fenugreek seeds, great health dishes.. the menu has been well thought out to promote digestion and many dishes are full of antioxidants. 4 star because our waiter forgot some of our orders. Good food, friendly service.

The chicken tikka masala is horrible, be warned. The butter chicken is decent. Really small and compact and can get very busy. No management, and there are kids running everywhere like a playground. No sense of formality. Giving it two stars because some of their food is actually pretty decent.
