I lived in Japan for three years, so of course Id say that it wasnt anything close to authentic Japanese ramen. It was okay tho however, the Gyoza was fried, and the Karaage was not the way I expected it to be...it shouldve said "Takoyaki style Karaage" instead. The karaage had more batter then meat and a little over cooked and burnt, I really wasnt expecting it to be topped with takoyaki stuff though. Instead Karaage should come with shredded cabbage, mayo dressing and a slice of lemon, so that was the only disappointment from what we ordered. The ramen was okay, but the Chasu was so thick! I guess Im really just used to Japanese authentic.

The atmosphere was nice but the bowl they recommended was $14.50 after tax and it took almost 20 minutes to get my food. I understand that this is a new restaurant so Ill cut it some slack on the prep time. They have a cool bar where you an watch the chefs making the food but I was disappointed when I noticed that the pot stickers were frozen and the noodles were prepackaged. I know that all the food cant all be made from scratch but at least open the packages in the back and ways from the customers. I found the portions of meat to be small and the food to be bland. Overall I was disappointed and will not be going back.

I tried it yesterday. It wasnt the best ramen place I ever had, but it wasnt the worse .One thing that I can say about it is that the food itself was well prepared, however some of the things that were offered to me didnt add up to what they were. Again the food was very flavorful but when I hear boiled egg. I expect a solid center. Other than that honestly it was actually very nice. Im with the people on this that the roman does seem a little over price. Overall I like my three star review. Its a new experience for those who have never had it but what I do it again, probably only once a month if that.

I was really looking forward to eating here and so excited that Monterey was finally getting a ramen shop, but was pretty underwhelmed with my experience. My husband got the Tonkotsu ramen, and I ordered the Miso...both were very bland, almost like the broth had been watered down. The chasu pieces that came in my ramen looked more like the pork that should have been simmered to make the broth and was almost all fat and/or skin. To top it all off, everything is served in single use plastic bowls.

Service was great and so was the facilities! Small, modern and Clean. However, was very disappointed in the ramen itself. I liked that I was able to costumize my ramen but they offer only one size bowl. After receiving my ramen it lacked in flavor and noodles were okay. Even after adding siracha and soy sauce the flavor fell short or expectations.

The ramen was pretty good, maybe a bit too expensive--Ive had better and less expensive in NYC. The most disappointing thing is presentation. Everything from bowl to drink cup to spoon to chopsticks was disposable. Its 2016, in California. WTF. Charging $13 to eat out of plastic is just tacky, not to mention unacceptable environmentally.

Best ramen in the Monterey Bay! Offers both traditional and original recipes, including the eponymous signature dish. Small seating area so expect a wait. The generous portions should be served in ceramic bowls rather than throwaway plastic to keep them hot (and to be more eco-friendly).

The service was fairly speedy, prices reasonable, and ramen delicious! I will definitely be going again. The staff was incredibly friendly too! Not just the people at the counter, even the cooks wished me a goodnight on my way out.

Ive been in 5 times since they opened. Only two times was the food and service excellent. This last time I was in Food was terrible. Broth was cold and tasted botched. Should have known when they didnt have a menu up!

Great find downtown. Best ramen in the area. Consistently great food, friendly service, and a cool vibe. If Im hungry Ill get an entrees and the portions are more than filling or Ill just stop in for the pork belly.

Excellent on a rainy day to warm you up. The Tonkatsu bowl has great broth and eggs, but the noodles seem to be straight of a 25 cent ramen packet.
