Lets start by saying that Im Japanese, and end by saying that this place is a glorified Pho Restaurant that serves $18 dollar bowls of bland and lifeless Ramen. I was excited to hear that a ramen eatery was opening up in Almaden. My girlfriend and I usually have to make the trip to Kahoo Ramen in Saratoga. First off, when presented with the menu, I immediately noticed that "Tonkatsu" was spelled "Tonkotsu." Not good, considering its a Japanese restaurant. Strike One! Second, when I ordered the Ox Tail Ramen, I ordered an additional side of more noodles (kae-dama). I was surprised to see that the waiter brought it out with the Ramen! By the time I got to add them to my bowl, it was soggy and cold! Strike Two! Third, their noodles tasted like a pre-packaged noodles bought at Mitsuwa boiled in water. Their broth tasted like MSG was added to try to enhance the flavor. Vegetables that are usually not added to Ramen was included including Gogi Berries, Carrots, and Idaho Potatoes. Strike Three! Lastly, their prices for ramen is extremely pricey. Their Ox Tail ramen is 18 dollars a bowl. So two bowls of ramen ($18 x 2 = $36) an additional side of noodles ($3) and tea ($2), the total came out to $44.59. Will not be coming back. I hope that this place doesnt stay in business long!

Will not becoming back ever! I was excited a ramen place had finally opened in South San Jose. However, this is not ramen, its pho. I ordered the oxtail ramen with shoyu broth, which came with a very small portion of store bought, cut up yaki soba noodles in a pho style, msg laden broth. Not to mention the majority of the meat was inedible cartilage. Also, the cooking staff abandoned the kitchen to join the Vietnamese clan of wild running around children, who were playing Pokemon Go through out the restaurant. So unprofessional. The wifes fake Louis Vuitton bag was comparable quality to the fake ramen we were served. Did I mention All the five star reviews you find are written by their Vietnamese family and friends. I wont be coming back. Definitely not worth the $18 bowl of pho.

Good staff and ambiance, but avoid sitting near the glass in the summer - the heat radiates through. I feel like this isnt the place to go for sushi, since they sell it at a premium, and while sake is on the menu the prices are a bit too high for all but three options. They need a house sake option, or a better happy hour (they offer a buy one get one 50% off supposedly). For the really premium sakes, maybe offer selling ounce pours, I dont think people buying a twelve dollar ramen bowl are going to buy an 800 dollar bottle with their meal. Feels pointless to have it on the menu. As far as the ramen goes, Id recommend the tankatsu soup base, and to add some spice from the table to give it a little more kick.

Wow!! Good ramen in IS possible in America. I have tried dozens of ramen shops in the US and Masa ramen is the best that I have had so far. I had the thick noodle spicy miso with chashu and lots of veggies, and it was the closest thing Ive had to a proper Japanese ramen outside of Japan. I cant speak for their other menu items, but their ramen is good! One minor complaint is larges tvs/projector screens on the wall. Its just an unnecessary distraction. But looking forward to coming back!

Masa Ramen has a very friendly and attentive staff. The food is not to bad at all. I came here for the ramen and I was not disappointed. I liked the customize option, in which I could add my favorites like enoki, nori, quail eggs and sweet corn. The Tonkotsu broth wasnt too salty. I spied on the menu board that they also have different types of blue fin tuna and from different parts of the world like Japan & Australia. Ill definitely come back to sample those!

I have been converted from pho to ramen! This place is awesome. Come with a big appetite. They have cool decorations and a trendy vibe, hearty and filling ramen, and friendly service. They have good sushi too! The young guy who works the sushi bar is fricken hilarious. I only wish that they had a smaller option for ramen because sometimes I cant even make a dent in my bowl.

Glad to have a decent ramen place near my location. This place looks really nice! Start off apps, they told me garlic soft shell crab. Never had that before. Perfect battered and deep fried. We ordered the 10 pieces chefs choice sashimi. Wow, this place gave us fresh wasabi. Whats sushi shop ever give fresh wasabi? Masa surprised me. Will be back to try other!!!

There is a food challenge here, advertised as 5lbs of meat, noodles and veggies that you have to finish in 45 minutes. However, after weighing the take home leftovers, it came out to over 8lbs. The ramen was average but the atmosphere was really fun. The wait staff participates in the fun. There is no way anyone on this earth could complete this food challenge.

Good ramen with great variety of appetizers. You can customize your ramen with a choice of 2 different kinds of noodles, 4 different soups, and many optional add-ons. The ramen were decent and solid, and perhaps slightly larger portion size than usual. The appetizer was even more interesting than the ramen, and worth a few visits to try them all.

Very small little place but really quality food. If you have more than 2 people, you should call ahead ... we had four people and ended up waiting an hour to be seated. If we hadnt had the Groupon, we would have never tried this place but now that we have tried it, well definitely be back. Great service and very very yummy ramen!

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food options. Appetizers are sizeable and cheap. Ramen are good, the tonkotsu broil was tasty, and the beef stew meat fantastic. Nice selection of sakes (although we did not have any). The sushi and rolls we saw at other tables also looked great.

I love their "Ramen by you" section which lets you customize what your want in your ramen. They have some ingredients that arent typically found in other ramen places such as quail eggs and stewed meat. They have free sake bombs nightly too which is cool.

Spicy Miso Ramen with Pork Belly and Garlic Beef Tenderloin is my favorite at this new ramen place. The fried tofu appetizer would be better if it wouldnt sit in a tempura sauce bath when served. Turned out soggy if not eaten within a few minutes.

Build your own ramen with selection of broths including tonkotsu, miso, shoyu, etc., toppings. Service staff is super friendly, if not always 100℅ accurate with order content. Faux sommelier sake delivery is cute.

Best neighborhood noodle shop. Beats standing in line at any of the "popular" places. Kids love the movies on the wall, fish is top notch and the staff really makes you feel at home.
