If I could give no stars, I would. My partner and I live in the neighborhood and drive by this location frequently. For the longest time this restaurant had a B from the health department. A few days ago we noticed an A on the front door and decided to try it out. Side note. Its your right to see a copy of the report given by the health department. All you have to do is ask restaurant staff to show you. 1. The restaurant is in need of a heavy renovation. All of the furniture is visibly damaged and dirty. In addition, the carpet is sticky and horribly worn. 2. We arrived two hours after opening and the buffet options were extremely limited. The options available were either cold when it needed to be hot or luke warm when it should have been cold. The food was lacking in quality as well. 3. We called the next day to let them know we both became Ill with diarrhea and it was likely from their food. We asked for a refund and Annie was very rude and refused. She did offer a credit to come back. No thank you! Lesson learned. Be advised.

Id been going to this location every time Im in LA for the past two years, and I never had a problem with the quality of the food. It was light years beyond what Id seen at any Chinese buffet to date. Over the last year or so, however, I did notice a drop-off in the quality of the service. Instead of getting my sodas refilled almost every time I turned my head, at the end I was waiting maybe 15-20 minutes between refills at best, often longer, all that time with an empty glass. Not living in LA, I couldnt tell you how much before that quality began slipping off, but from the other reviews, I suspect it was a lot earlier than what I noticed. That being said, Im really gonna miss this place and the Burbank one. It was perfect for an intermission gnosh while checking out the AMC Best Picture Showcase. And the price! Such a bargain!

Went in when they were renovating. But the staff had us sit on the renovated side and the other side was nice and ready to go. I dont understand there ligic. It was unbelieve to me. Been in the food and beverage industry for a while and had never seen such an act. Now that being said food isnt bad here. The chilled crab legs are great! Sushi is mediocre, below average but this place is not made for sushi but the Chinese food. The swai fish Sautee is my favorite along with other Chinese dishes. Found a surprise in green onions and the banana cream pie was old. Its a mixed feelings here. They were doing well when it first opened. Would like to see it go back to the better days. The flan is great haha I dont know the secret but loads of flavor. I tried to give another fair review. Thanks!

I went to Hokkaido Seafood buffet after seeing a movie at the Landmark theater next door. Staff was prompt in greeting and showing seating. Its a typical buffet layout, but 1/2 the size of a different Asian buffet I went to in South Bay many years ago. I knew going in to not expect much and unsurprisingly I was not impressed in any way with the food. Not a place I would go back to, but because of its size, its a convenient location for large groups -- there was a post funeral Chinese speaking group that came in on a tour bus. I was always curious about this place, and now Im done. At least I didnt get sick and hopefully my friend didnt either.

Ugh. I read a few reviews of this place before going to it. Only because Im a big time yelper. So I wasnt expecting the best. Well basically I ended up going anyway because I was invited by a friend that was having her babyshower here. The reviews that I read were so spot on. The food was gross. Everything was nasty and old besides the "made when you order it" sections, which included the ramen bar and the fresh chew mein/spaghetti bar. Both of those stations were prepared on the spot for you and were really good. Other than that it was gross, old and dirty in there and Ill never be back there ever again. I dont see them staying open for long !

Hokkaido is what it is: a gigantic buffet that offers many asian and american influenced options including sushi, sashimi, a hibachi grill, a chocolate fondue fountain, a salad, soup, and fruit bar, and a bunch of random "chinese" dishes. This is the best Hokkaido in LA, for sure, but it still can be not that great sometimes. If I wanted a good deal on sushi, i would be better served to visit nearby Marukai market. Hokkaido isnt too bad if you want to eat too much and get "the idis," though. (for all you boondocks fans out there) the lunchtime price is decent, too (around 12 bucks)

It is very awful place! Most of fish is old and stink! We asked manager to change the fish, he said that it is not his business and just left. It also very dirty place! The tables dirty and the waiters did not hurry to clean it even when we asked about it. The manager said that there is only two waiters for 100 tables. The food is bad, old, and stink. Plase and tables are very dirty. Manager is lazy and did not want to take responsibility for the work of his team, so why is he here? And it cost 18,99!! I do not recommend to go to this place!

I was leaving L.A to return to Toronto so i went to Hokkaido to eat thinking it will be like the Manderin. 19$ for all you can eat which is pretty good but the food sucked. From weird tasting sushi and sashimi to an old cold roasted lamb. I tried to eat thinking about my money but I had to leave after my first plate. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone unless you love crab legs because thats the only good food they have. Even the orange chicken is way too salty. I was really disappointed.

just left this place and what a terrible place. The sushi didnt look fresh but I got it anyway and the salmon was horrible and old and mushy same with the tuna. The food was cold!! Not one thing was hot, not even Luke warm. The manager said we had to get the food from the bottom. But each tray had only about 4 scoops of food. I would never return and our first clue was the big C that they were graded posted on the front door. Manager have us half price 26 bucks...whatever

My wife and I went to Hokkaido for dinner last night (Feb 14) before our movie at the Landmark Theatre. The service was HORRIBLE! We wanted to eat sushi, but there were empty trays where there should have been an assortment of sushi. Guests were sharing soy sauce from different tables as the waitresses seemed uninterested in our needs. Our drinks were NEVER replenished. Awful!! Im usually not the type of person to complain, but I would not recommend this place.

I came here myself last time I travelled to LA, thought the food was inexpensive and the variety is OK, so this time I took my family to have lunch here. We didnt even have that much compared to other buffet, yet after lunch buffet here, none of us had any appetite for dinner, or breakfast next morning. All four of us felt some sort of stomach pain the next day. Thats when I am absolute sure we had some not fresh food, which is horrible when you are travelling!
