Average sushi, ok price, poor service. We decided to give Hide another try after a few years, and reading some of the reviews online. Our experience was a big disappointment. The wait was not bad, and we were told; 30 minutes, however when we were seated it took a half hour for our first order to come. Patrons seated after us were served within 10 minutes, and it was clear they had not placed our order. The portions, especially the Uni were small and poorly composed, our dishes and glasses were never cleared from our table, even after our waitress knocked them over, she simply left them there. You get what you pay for, average sushi, and an average price with below average service. Sitting at the counter you will get better service and more attention to the portion and presentation, however this is sometimes difficult with a family of three. We will not be back.

If you have discriminating taste buds, this is not the place for you. The sweet shrimp was large and flavorless. The vegetable salad was over the top bitter from the daichon that it drowned out the delicious flavors of the other vegetables. The uni was descent but very puny in size compared to other places with similar price and quality. The miso issue was average at best along with the suno mono salad. The tempura was flavorless. The cold sake wasnt even worth drinking. I would gladly have paid twice the price for some food that left a nice impression. $200 for 2 adults and 2 small children is easy overpriced for the total lack of quality. Oh, did I mention by daughter dropped her miso soup and they wanted to charge us for a replacement. This was a great place 20 years ago. It is outdated and not competitive at all with current offerings.

This place is a little tricky to find.. and one can easily walk past it. But its a great authentic Japanese restaurant on Sawtelle! I came here for dinner one night when I was craving sushi while walking around Sawtelle. I sat at the sushi bar and was quickly seated. They have a pretty extensive menu to fulfill almost any Japanese food-related craving. This place has several tables which are good for small groups or families. But I like sitting at the sushi bar and watching the chefs at work. :) What I tried: -Unagi nigiri - Delicious! -Salmon/Tuna sashimi - Very fresh! Parking: They have a private lot in the back or you can find a meter in the Sawtelle area. Im so glad I found this place. I am totally coming back to try the other items on their menu. FYI, Cash only!

Friday lunch was extremely busy! Lucky for us there were a couple of seats at the bar. Sashimi platter- Salmon & yellowtail | miso | rice | salad 3.5 stars Uni sushi 5 stars Yellowtail collar 3 stars Eel Hand Roll 4 stars The sashimi wasnt bad, however, not the freshest. I expect higher quality from an authentic restaurant. Uni sushi was really good and they load it up! Yellowtail Collar was a little bland. The eel hand rolls were good and lightly sweetened with the eel sauce. It didnt come with avocado though! Finding Hide was a bit difficult. I apparently walked passed it twice! Parking: Lot in the back & they validate! CASH ONLY!

Its difficult to get a reservation here, but I managed to dine here 3 times now. The food is excellent and it continues to improve. Since everyones taste is different, I imagine not everyone will be impressed but I think everyone will enjoy the dining experience here. It will lasts 3 hours, but time passed fairly quickly for me because I enjoyed my time very much. The price is reasonable if you compare it to other top restaurants in the world. I would not dine here every week because of my health concern, cholesterol and blood pressure, but I definitely think its worth a visit every 3 to 6 months. BTW, their vegetarian meal is also very good.

One of my favorite sushi places in the area. Always very fresh, and food comes out relatively fast too. I recommend their yellowtail and salmon. Nigiri or sashimi. Their Dynamite baked scallops was also really delicious, has SO MUCH fish eggs, and was overwhelmingly packed with flavor -- at least two people need to share this. Only downside to this place is that it is cash only, so be aware but there is an ATM inside or you can go over to the Nijaya Market and get cash back after a purchase. Also I wish there were slightly more options on the menu. But I still always come back here for the usual! Overall, Recommend!

Hide Sushi was a good experience for sushi on the Westside if you want a no frills sushi experience which isnt necessarily a bad thing at all. For $15, I got the teriyaki and sashimi (tuna) combo which comes with rice/miso soup/cucumber and lettuce salad/sashimi/teriyaki and an orange. It was a filling meal and again, very simple presentation with good solid tastes. They also have beer/sake/soda/tea along with other Japanese meal items like oysters and a full list of sushi. Parking, look for neighborhood or street spots and cash only! No RSVPs either so put your name on a list.

Dont tell anyone (itll be our secret), but this is the best no frills, nothing fancy, just get sushi, sushi joint in LA. Go and sit at the bar, order until youre bursting with sushi (dont skip the octopus or salmon roe) and youre going to be super thrilled. Seriously though, dont let anyone else know. Oh, if youre looking for a place that does lots of fancy, strange, not entirely Japanese rolls, this certainly isnt the place for you. Youll want to try someplace else.

This place is excellent! Heads up, they are Cash Only. There is an ATM just inside the door. Prices are great and the quality of the food is fantastic. I had the pickled plum roll and pickled daikon radish roll. Sitting at the bar was great, as we were able to talk to the sushi chefs a bit. Really great people and the staff were friendly and helpful. Vegan options are there if you look. I definitely recommend Hide Sushi & will be going back if Im in LA again.

I have been coming to hide Sushi at least for the past 15 years, love their monkfish liver, dynamite, every thing really good. last weekend had a real disappointing experince at Hide, they wanted to seat 3 adults on a small table for 2, when we tried to talk to the manager he refused to talk to us, we left really upset. he did not care. my wife asked for the owners number, she apologised, but we are really disapointed I thought they cared

Great sushi! Always crowded but no worries because the service is efficient and fantastic. I love coming here you can sit at the bar or at a table. If its crowded you just write your name and number in your party on the board and then they will seat you. At lunch they have an $11 special that includes teriyaki beef or chicken and tempura and miso soup

The fish is very fresh, very decent for the price. However if you like rolls this isnt the place to go...not so many roll options. The menu is very small, so it helps for those who are indecisive. Its a hole in the wall place, but clean, with friendly service. Plus it had good lunch deals if you like teriyaki and tempura.

The best no-frills sushi bar anywhere! Fish is always the freshest and best quality. Prices are affordable. Staff is very skilled and friendly. Customers are very friendly as well. I have loved this restaurant since it was a tiny hole in the wall next door to its present location many years ago..
