With its unique seating arrangement and consistently good food, Irori is one of the most unique dining experiences for a reasonable price on the Westside. At Irori, you take your shoes off and sit on the floor with your feet in a "hole" underneath your short table. Its pretty fun! For about $20-$25/person, you can get sushi, udon noodles, tempura and other Japanese favorites from Iroris menu. They offer an omakase as well, but I think most people come in for the sushi specials or bento boxes. While you wont get an exceptional amount of food at Irori, youll feel good about the quality of food that you got for the price. Personally, I love getting the udon noodles here, along with a roll of sushi. It takes care of my sushi fix, along with my love for warm food. If you have friends visiting from out of town, this is a fun spot to go for a unique dining experience that feels a little more special than going to your local thai place.

First of all, this place takes reservations and you should certainly consider to book a table as it gets pretty busy for dinner. Once you got in youll have to take off your shoes as you sit on the floor. The table has a hole below it where you can put your feet in. I love that as it gives it an authentic feeling. Staff is also super friendly and seems to be mostly Japanese. They have not only sushi but obviously people go there to eat sushi and thats a great idea. Their sushi is fresh and portions are huge. To make it even more authentic I would prefer the slices of fish are not cut that thick, but thats really complaining on high level. Their rice is also just spot on. Really a great place with great atmosphere and great service. Worth a try or two!

Irori is definitely a hidden gem! It is tucked away in a corner of a shopping center. So for first timers, it can be a bit tricky looking for this restaurant. Once inside, you will be asked you remove your shoes. The host will walk you to your table where you will dine sitting on these mats with shoes off. It was a different experience, but I enjoyed it. I had the toro sashimi. All I can say is this was heavenly. It was like butter! I also tried the yellowtail in ponzu w/jalapenos. This was oh so good! Refreshing and delicious with a perfect citrusy kick. Service was excellent! Our server seems new but was thorough with explaining everything on the menu including the daily specials. Kudos to him! I cant wait to be back!

Great sushi place. The service is fast and food is very fresh. Some of the rolls may look pricy but they are large portion sizes. Order a few things to start with before ordering more. You may find yourself very full after a few items. I would come back to try their udon and other interesting seafood items. I been to other restaurants where they ask you to remove your shoes. I think this is the first time in U.S. Im not a big fan of tight seating. If you have lower bad issues, ask for a chair backing.

Recommend this 10,000%!!! Yes, you take your shoes off, you sit down into the floor - but thats because its so authentic. You know what else it is? Absolutely phenomenal food with an awesome experience. Its a little hard to find in the shopping center location, but do yourself a favor and eat here. Dont go somewhere else for sushi, go here. Find this place, its incredible. I travel 3-4x a month for work and this is the most memorable food and dining experience Ive had in years.

Irori Japanese Restaurant is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurant in the city. I just love authentic Japanese food made by Japanese chef. Impressive menu! Super clean and comfortable restaurant. The Hashim was super fresh with a variety of fishes prepare like eight different ways. Great service and super friendly staff. Check out the todays special menu. Food presentation was amazing too. This place is more on the pricey, but its so worth it.

Always consistently tasty food (even the pickles that you get with the combination lunch/dinner are mild and refreshing). The feel of the place is quite unique (they make you remove your shoes, and you basically sit in cutouts in the ground), and the staff is no-nonsense but helpful. There is a huge free lot for parking, too. I guess my only major complaint would be that the price is quite expensive, even when considering the quality of the food.

I live in Vancouver, Canada and I have been to hundreds of different sushi places in my life including the home of sushi, Japan. Nothing compares to the satisfaction this restaurant left me. The rolls are so fresh and stuffed to capacity unlike other places that just pack the rice in and chince out on the ingredients. I cant have sushi without comparing it to this place, drives me nuts that I live far from this gem, you lucky people.

The food is always good but the service needs improvement. Walked in at 5:45 and the hostess almost didnt want to seat us without a reservation despite numerous empty tables. We had to argue with her for a table. Informed the waitress there was water under my table and she did nothing and had to have someone else dry up the floor. Seems like the employee turnaround is great as we never see the Same employees over the last 5 years.

Beats me how you can rate a Korean Restaurant the best Japanese Restaurant "east of Tokyo" and similar exagerations. Though the fish was not bad (except for the akami), the rice nigiri was too tiny and had a ridiculous shape reminding me of a dromedary. (Never understood why non-Japanese cant get it right, though its not rocket science.) There are many better, truly Japanese restaurants in LA, albeit not in Marina del Rey.

Ive been to many sushi restaurants over the years and this has to rank at the top. Probably the most attentive and friendly wait staff, a unique leave-your-shoes-at-the-door sit-on-the-floor laid back vibe. And the quality of the food is top notch. My favorite roll was salmon wrapped around blue crab. So good we ordered a second one even though we were stuffed. I will definitely make the drive out here again.

First time I was skeptical but once the Peppered Albacore was set before me, I knew what was up. Delicious every time. Service is always welcoming and almost too efficient keeping drinks filled and food on the table. They even rewarded us with a Christmas gift last year for our continued business! This place is the best, and every time my fiance and I try Sushi elsewhere, we wish we had gone to Irori.

Omg omg omg best sushi of my life!!!! Wow the salmon blue crab roll with no rice and truffle oil is literally the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. I cant express my new found love for this place. Rock n roll was good too. I cant wait to come back and try more! Also its so unique and traditional that you have to take off your shoes and sit on the floor. Such a cute spot! Fave sushi in LA right now
