Came here after hearing recommendations from friends, but I will not be coming back again (and warning others to steer clear as well). First off, the restaurant is very small inside - as we had been warned. There are 6 to 8 tables, depending on the arrangement, and only 12 more seats at the bar. There is no real "waiting area," as we unfortunately found out. We waited over an hour after being told 30 minutes when we first arrived, with just two couples waiting in front of us (which we deemed a reasonable wait, based on the small size of the place). When we asked the server/hostess (she only checked on us once the whole time, about 15 minutes in), she was VERY passive aggressive in her conversation with us after we inquired why we were still waiting so long after the time she told us. The response was rude, rude, rude! Not a good table system with tables open and them waiting for people on the list that arent there (as that was the reason she gave us), telling us there was STILL two groups in front of us - by the way, we were the only ones standing in the "waiting" area for quite some time. Apparently you can put your name on the list several hours in advance. Any competent hostess would have informed us at the beginning of ALL the parties that were in front of us (rather than just "about 30 minutes"), so we could have made an informed decision about realistically sticking around for so long or to go somewhere else. Needless to say, we decided to leave after our conversation, as no sushi is worth such an awful experience. Ive never been so firm an advising to skip a restaurant for purely a service-related issue, but this was simply inexcusable. I can only hope that a place with supposedly good food can fix its bad service, otherwise there is no hope for this relative newcomer in in already sushi-saturated Reno. One word summary: AVOID.

Came here for Japanese ramen on a Saturday evening. Group of three, and I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with chashu pork. It took about ten minutes to get seated, but it made sense since it was the weekend. The ramen was rather average. Understand that my baseline for comparison is Japanese ramen in Southern California, but I felt there were certain things that could have been done to make the ramen better. The pork and toppings were fine, and the broth was pass-worthy. However, the noodles were underwhelming for two reasons. One, the noodles resembled those you get from a package of ramen. For some, thats not a big deal... so Ill move on to my second gripe with the noodles. Some of the noodles were clumped and stuck together even after sitting in the broth for a while. The ramen flavor was OK but nothing extraordinary. I would not go out of my way to try Minato again, but I also wouldnt be against it. If I do make it back to Reno (and to Minato), I might try something else. Other than that, service was friendly but not necessarily always attentive. Overall, Minato was OK.

Worst service. First time customer after reading reviews. Sat down in this small restaurant with my small family on a Sunday night for dinner. Restaurant was maybe 3/4 full. We were greeted promptly, seated brought menus and drink orders taken. After that no one ever came back. We couldnt even get a server to make eye contact in this tiny restaurant. said "excuse me," to get someones attention and was met with a signal to hold on. The three sushi chef stood awkwardly behind the small sushi counter apparently not busy. Another family came in 15 minutes after and got full service?? We got up and left after 25 minutes. No food, no service... no chance we will ever give them a shot again. Headed up to Hiroba for our sushi fix. Short wait, fantastic service, fresh sushi. And they were packed as usual. disappointed that we even wasted our time to try something new. Id give zero stars to Sushi Minato if I could, based on my experience.

Definitely not as good as original location by far. Bad service. I actually had two servers, one was completely clueless and the other was adequate. Staff not familiar with menu and very slow. Orders came out very late and most in our party had to wait. Half of what we ordered came out much much later and we had to wonder if there was more coming. Ended up reordering after a long wait. The food was fine but not as good as it used to be at the old location. Our final check came and it was completely wrong. I didnt argue and just paid the bill and left a tip. As much as I enjoyed the of Minato location and wanted to give a good review, my experience as well as some of my friends experience (on separate occasions) was not positive. The consensus at least was consistent. Wanted to give a good review but a definite do not recommend on this one. I should add beware of fake reviews.

Id been here before for the ramen, which is quite delicious and my boyfriend raves about the udon. We came here to try their sushi bar after checking out our usual spot and finding it to be way too busy. We were seated within seconds of entering and the "all-you-can-eat" option was actually slightly cheaper than our usual place. It was delicious, our chef was very attentive and made sure we were doing alright and everything we ordered fit our expectations. Their Hamachi is succulent and slightly sweet, I had about four orders just by myself. Everything was so quick to come out, even the cooked or deep fried rolls. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, and the decor is tastefully thought out and ties the whole place together. We will definitely be returning.

Great place all the way around. Sushi chefs are nice and talkative. They actually will talk to you more then the usual glance of what next. They make great rolls and are very quick about it. No waiting 5-10 min on a roll. The hostess is very sweet and it all over making sure my drink is filled and plates are removed. It is small but I would perfer to think of it as cozy. For the experience you get I would say its a even swap.

Came for the Ramen noodles and hadnt been to this new location, but have been to the original location for the last couple of years and never left unsatisfied. I like spicy food, and their scale of spiciness it pretty good. I usually order the Korean Spicy Ramen with all the toppings at a lever 2 spice, or 2 chilis as they call it, and man, Im not really sure a 3 chili soup is in my future, but I love it!

A great sushi restaurant. They have great service and are so fast! Its a little cramped in there, but they are moving to a new, bigger location, so cant knock them for it. They also do free birthday sushi, which is wonderful! I like all their rolls. Go give them a try!

Fantastic sushi and top-rank ramen. Tried most of the sushi places in Reno, and this is the one Im always coming back to. Best ramen Ive had in quite a long while, years. Certainly nothing this quality in the state, including Vegas. Highly recommend.

Great noodles. It does not look like much from the outside. Parking is in the back. You can enter from the back. Order the chicken noodles and dumplings! The Chukchi is amazing. I would say its their best dish. You will know when you see it and try it.
