I dont think Ive ever written a comment about a restaurant and while I cant complain about the atmosphere or the service, I was disappointed with the teppanyaki. I am not terribly picky but the food was just plain bland. Simply adding more salt and onion powder to the rice and vegetables would have made a huge difference... and to make everything even better , adding bits of real bacon to the rice would be a nice touch . Thats all it really wouldve taken. It didnt help that when the chef, who was very nice, first came out he knocked his bowl of eggs on the floor and they broke. His spatula also fell on the floor which he proceeded to wipe off with a towel and then use to cook our food. While I personally didnt care that much about it, thats how not picky I am, if that were my restaurant I wouldve chewed the guy out and at the very least sent him home for the day. I regularly read restaurant reviews and it seems like most of the people who give bad reviews have either poor taste or simply would not be happy anywhere… I think Im pretty easy to please and have a somewhat wide range of taste in food. I like it all pretty much .I can enjoy a four dollar lunch plate at a hole-in-the-wall just as much as a gourmet dinner that I cant afford. Of the Teppanyaki places I know of in town, the food at this place was by far the most bland and least interesting. In fact its the only one with bland food. Forget about the chef dropping the spatula on the floor and wiping it off then using it in front of us. I really wanted to like this place. 3/24/2017 was there around noon

The customer service is probably the only reason why my husband and I stayed to continue our dinner. Although the waitress can get more training she was overall an ok waitress. My husband and I kept having to ask for things like water refills, napkins, forks and the waitress would forget, but she never showed any frustration which made up for the forgetfulness. We ordered their mixed tempura and it came out burnt! Who burns tempura?? There was no tempura sauce...or maybe they forgot. I even asked for some tempura sauce and it was never brought to the table. I love sushi. The sushi from this restaurant was awful! The avocado was brown. There was wayyyyy too much rice on the sushi rolls. My husband and I love eating raw sushi and the fish on the sushi at this place was smoochy like it was scrapped instead of sliced; it was disgusting! Again, if it werent for the ok service I would have rated this establishment ZERO. My husband and I were pretty disappointed, we will not be going back to this restaurant.

Went in with my husband 3/18/17 my husband wanted to have teppanyaki, the place was dirty and the chef seemed in a hurry to finish preparing the meal the food was awful the waitress did not understand simple request as in hot sauce, Wasabi for my sushi big disappointment first time going and the last!! Food is over priced and its crap.

The customer service could have been way better. Took about 30 mins to get a requested soda from the server. The chef was new but needs to step up her A-game and she will be fine. Didnt sample the sushi bar so cant comment on that, but the teppanyaki has good potential, as long as orders are correct as well as portion sizes.

I can honestly say that Sano makes the best sushi in Fresno. Ive been an extremely satisfied customer of his for at least 20 years here in the valley and while we are very lucky to have many good sushi restaurants, Sanos is by far the best. I havent left an establishment of his unhappy once.

Sano the sushi chef is by far the best around! He spoils us with creative and different sushi each time we visit. If you want to expand your sushi palette ask him and he will give you sushi you never have heard of. My all time favorite is jellyfish tentacles with tobiko and uni

I love this restaurant every time I visit. Their food is always delicious and this time I tried the all you can eat sushi. The owner is so nice and has great customer service. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some good sushi in town.

The sushi was good but the service was the worst our waitress acted like we were bothering her, and the place could use a coat of fresh paint and new flooring to be a little cleaner. Been going here for years it is sad to see it end up like this.

Sano is back! Best sushi chef in Fresno has his own restaurant again. Sit at the sushi bar and enjoy draft beer at happy hour. Fish is fresh and excellent. Best dragon roll in Fresno. Yellowtail melts in your mouth. Were here every week!

Went there last Thursday 10-27-16 and when we walked in the place was dirty and they did not even have a chef there they had to call the person in and it was 1120am at that time. The Tapanaki tables were not cleaned, we walked out.

There are great sushi options here with plenty of seating for big groups. They host karaoke nights and cheap deals on their sushi. I really enjoy eating there.

Food is awesome. Mister Sona ( owner and sushi maker) is very nice and funny. Thats the real deal!!!! And staff is very nice !!!! Just loved the place.

Ive been eating Sano Sans sushi for over 20 years--except when he went on hiatus to Houston. He is the very best sushi chef Ive ever found, bar none.
