WOW... we are still in shock. We just left Yama... a total dive sushi resturant in the heart of camarillo. We chose Yama for a last min. date night. We arrived at 9:15pm ordered, received our drinks. at 9:55PM received our food . After taking a bite into not fully cooked chicken, the owner decided to close down the restaurant 35 min.early without even announcing. Online and on the window the restaurant was to be open until 10:30PM. The owner turned off the music, lights, and all employees started to exit. They used cheep, inexpensive quality food, the place was dirty, and the Teppan Chef was a Mexican man that didnt even know how to cut the meat. He totally struggled. His fork was tuned backwards and he had no idea what he was doing. We were rushed out before finishing our meals and sake, and took our cheep undercooked food to go... but not before having to pay a $90.00 bill that was not itemized nor worth the horrific service and treatment. STAYYYYY FAR AWAY... as we will never return! Sadly, we have to swallow the loss of $100 and pray we dont get food poisoning. A refund would be appreciated!!!

The review below mine has to be completely fake from someone who owns or is a relative of this place. Zero stars would be a better review. Do not go here! Here is why I am leaving this review: Rude - closed 35 minutes early while we eating, music turned off and lights off. Dirty and Greasy - they dont use any sort of detergent to clean tables etc. Hibachi - mexican guy didnt know how to do hibachi whatsoever. I couuld have done better, Expensive as hell - 2 people cost over 100$ and bill was not itemized. Sushi Roll - they were out of tuna so they crammed my spicey tuna roll with cucumber to make me think it was full. Hibachi Chicken - not cooked all the way. We might get sick:( Horrible place to eat and this was in no way an off night. The people were not happy and just wanted to leave. SO PISSED!

Where do I begin? First the waitress forgot to bring one of our orders for a good thirty minutes, then she couldnt answer any of our simple questions, then they brought us the check and over priced us by $10 (which happens often to customers there) they do not print up theyre receipts so they can easily charge you more for what you ordered, it took them about 15 minutes to split the check between three people, then they still over priced us after we told them they charged us for something we didnt order. And finally we left a small tip on the table and we were at the front counter and the waitress slammed it on the counter next to us and said we forgot to change. Overall never going there again, horrible service

I been coming to this place for years, i love the salad and soup. Our chef that we loved no longer works there and the replacement one is awful!!! The cook forgot our shrimp and mushrooms and the food has no flavor!! The waitress she didnt do her job and forgot our ice tea and my son apple juice. I went back a few days later and it was the same, talk to the owner about what happened and he didnt understand why they forgot everything. No discount no sorry nothing. I hate to say it but it looks like my favorite place is no more

We have been coming for many years and enjoyed the sushi chefs and the food. Unfortunately, the place has taken a total nose dive. We waited one hour at the bar for food and finally left. The owner seems a bit clueless and apathetic. Its too bad to see a good place turn bad. We may not go back again.

This is a great sushi restaurant. Our whole family goes there, and the little granddaughters love the special attention they get at the sushi bar. Their presentations are gorgeous and there are many different rolls to suit any taste. Fresh fish and the lightest tempura in town. Favorite chef: Steve

Service was friendly. We ordered sashimi, chicken teriyaki, and salmon. It came out quickly and was very good. Boiling salmon came out to our table making a lot of noise and making everyone who hasnt gotten food jealous. Would come back again.

Freshest Fish you will ever find. Tony the chef apparently goes to the fish monger everyday to get the best. Pro tip: Offer him some drinks and he will return the favor with fish!
