Always very long lines, do not be fooled. We spent around $60, and not one order excel above fair. They are supposedly big honchos when it comes to batter, being named Original Pancake House, but our waffles and pancakes, were a total miss. The waffle was as flat as a pancake, and that is a waffle disgrace. Waffles are supposed to be thick and fluffy. This one was flat, undercooked and chewy. The apple syrup tasted like a concoction made in a chemical lab. The apple topping in the waffle and pancakes was acceptable. Undercooked both, this is not a thing you can ignore. The western omelet at almost $12 is a disgrace. The toppings diced so small, and scattered about to convey the appearance of a fair amount, the eggs lacking the light consistency of a good omelet. Server very pretty and efficient, and that always help and was happily compensated at the end of the meal. Yes, I know, they have long lines, make a lot of money, but the same as even pricier places to eat where the food do not deserve to be praised, The Original Pancake House does not deliver the high praises everyone and their uncle seem to place in this mediocre eatery. Expensive, and any additional thing cost money. Dennys got more class than this place and that is saying a lot. 2 Stars.

Caplans Went their Sunday around nine and only waited 15 minutes. Our waitress was very personable. We ordered the Dutch baby, 49er flapjacks and Swedish pancakes. The waitress came with my Dutch baby order and my sons flapjacks, but informed my wife they ran out of Swedish pancake batter and it would be awhile or would she like to order something else? The waitress apologized several times. We said we would share some flapjacks from my sons order or mine. The waitress said she would take the Swedish pancakes off the bill. Really!! When we were done the manager came by our table apologizing and asked if she could do anything for us. What were we supposed to say? It would have been good customer service to have the manager comp our breakfast or reimburse with some gift certificate for a future breakfast, since it was their mistake that my wife lost out on her breakfast and my son had to share his order. Two of the orders came and if we had to wait for her reorder or the Swedish pancake batter made, we would be their watching my wife eat alone. We even left a $5 tip. Weve been coming for breakfast their for over 25 years. Every other time the weve eaten their its been great. Very disappointing customer service.

Today was not a good day at the original House of Pancakes. My husband and I go to this Original House of Pancakes in Laguna Niguel on Oso and Moulton every Sunday after church. We order the very same thing every week. We split a vegetarian omelette with Jack cheese, instead of getting buttermilk pancakes my husband gets the blueberry pancakes and we get a side of potatoes. Today was special because its my husbands birthday. We ordered our usual and when The Omelette came back half the size we wondered what was going on! So we asked our server Jeff, and he says I dont have time I have other tables and he walked away. A few minutes later the manager came over and said is everything okay? Well obviously she knew that there was a problem or she wouldnt have come over. If I was a manager I would have asked what is the issue or something to that effect not ask if theres a problem! We told her about the size of The Omelette and she said I dont know Ill look into it and walked away. Never seen from her again. Keep in mind, that we go to that Original House of Pancakes every Sunday after church. If I was the manager I would have taken off half of the price of the omelette! She did nothing! Im not too sure if well go back

The service was almost no service at all . Someone brought me a coffee in a mug (which wasn’t thoroughly clean) and before I even had time to ask the person for some milk or cream, she disappeared. Then some woman (obviously disturbed from having her own lunch) came to take an order from me. I asked her for something small, but instead i got a huge omelet the size of a whole chicken and the two totally tasteless pancakes. Although the omelet was hot it looked not thoroughly cooked! While eating, someone started sweeping the floor (its not only unpleasant, but i have an allergy to the dust). I was given a check almost immediately after i got an omelet, and as for the box to go - the woman dropped it on the way , then brought me another one but without a plastic bag. Walking all the way home carrying that in my hands wasnt a good idea so I just left it on a table and hurried away from that unpleasant place.

We woke up early today, and the reward is breakfast at Original Pancake House! Every time we attempted to go, the line was out the door. Luckily on this early weekday morning, there was no line. They remodeled! The waitress told us the modeling was done in September last year. Wow! We haven’t been back for almost a year! Dr. P ordered Eggs Benedict. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. He loved the dish! I really like the potato pancakes. I ordered Vegetarian Omelette. This was a huge fluffy omelette. I could only finish 1/3 of it and was completely full. Lots of fresh veggies in the omelette with melted cheddar cheese. Also I couldn’t finish my omelet because I need to leave room for pancakes! The omelet comes with a side of buttermilk pancakes. Fluffy and soft pancakes… mmmmm….. Love love love the pancakes!

So after months of pressure from locals I finally wandered down the hill to this restaurant. It is slightly different than I imagined but it still didnt disappoint. The staff is friendly but the environment is kind of loud. Im told this place is EXTREMELY busy on the weekends with 1 hour waits at times. I went on a Tuesday at 11am and it was still pretty busy. The decor reminds you of a late 80s early 90s ponderosa or old country buffet, which could be a good thing for people looking for the old fashioned Saturday morning family breakfast outting. Coming from the Midwest I have high expectations for breakfast, and while this place was not bad, I have eaten better. But I can say with confidence that this is the best place in California that I have breakfast at thus far.

This place is a classic. It is a staple in the community. I usually dont go here because the wait is always so long on the weekends which is when i would normally go to breakfast. They squeeze tons of people into a small place. You are literally sitting right next to the neighboring table, so there really isnt any privacy. The food is great. It is a typical pancake house with tons of pancake options. I usually order the dutch baby. It is the only place I have ever seen it before and it is so delicious. This place is not a cheap diner, it is actually pretty expensive for my taste.

Service was excellent. Staff helped you order the perfect combos for 1st time visitors. Large portions, so dont expect to count calories... The place gets pretty packed so expect it. Our wait time was about 15 to20 min for a family of 5 on a sunday morning before 9. When we left about an hour later... there was a line outside. Pancakes were excellent, eggs & sausages were basic. Hashbrows tasted homemade from scratch...yumm. Place sure gets really packed so be ready. Over all...it was pretty good but not mind blowing.
