Thought I would share my experience at "Ways and Means" in Pacific City. For those who care to read... Was in on Monday May 23rd. Walked in with a friend, asked for happy hour specials, the bartender said: "Martinis and $20 buckets of beer or champagne singles" I ordered a bucket of champagne. When bucket arrived I was surprised at quality of mini bottles, and even told the bartender what a good value it was at $5 per btl! Two more friends join us, we move to a table, after asking to close out or transfer...told: "no problem, Ill transfer you" I ask for 2 more flutes for champagne, as I still have a couple little bottles, order 4 lobsters and a side, from the manager, (she is having problems transferring the tab). I have to get up and find her two more times in the next 20min because there is no server, no flutes, no silverware in sight! Finally she goes and grabs the 2 extra glasses her self,(she should have done that 20min ago) Meal comes, no silverware still. Finally get it. Tab comes, the bucket of champagne is $40, not $20. Weve gone through 4 buckets in the last 2hrs and convinced the table next to us of the great value and they ordered a bucket! Im out an extra $80!!! The manager offers no apology, says its my fault, I should have looked at the menu. Menu was never offered to any of us!!! She says "its at every table," we walk over to four tables, no menus!! Not one in sight! She speaks at me like Im an 8 year old and says Im calling security if you dont pay your tab young man! I walked out before blowing up with rage, my girl covered the tab, paying $80 extra because of their lack of training/service/management. Moral of the story: There are 15 more places to eat within 100yards. And tourists will be gone in September. Treat the locals in this manner, you will be out of business very soon...

Went Sunday 1/6/14. What a Disappointment. Ordered 6 big oysters and 6 others. Only received 11 total and 3 of the big ones. Sent the tray back and was returned with the same thing. Was told "Were out of the big ones" Then I overheard the waiter doing the exact same thing to the table next to us with the same excuse...Could not get a drink at the bar from the bartender.. had to order it from a waiter because he was to busy with the cash register with his tie and shirt undone. When he did come to us he grabbed my wifes drink and filled it with water not even asking or knowing it was a vodka soda. Gave us a new drink with well vodka in return. I had to order three more glasss of wine from a waiter walking by the bar because this guy never looked at us. The only thing he was quick at was taking our $115.00 for 11 oysters and 5 drinks. Oh, the reason we were at the bar was because we showed up at 4:50pm. Told it would take 10 minutes to get us a table because they were not open yet. The girl came to the bar to find us for our table as I was paying my bill at 6:15pm. I dont mind paying for good food and good service but I received neither here...I never even got to order the steak I was looking to get in the first place. I wont be back. You lost a local who was looking for a good restaurant in Orange to make a my regular spot but I guess I still have to go out of the city for a good dinner.

I was treated out for my birthday at this restaurant. Despite not having to pay for anything, I can honestly say the food here were expensive and the portions are tiny no matter what dishes were ordered. I was still hungry after having the privilege of ordering several dishes, and Im not even a big eater. Every dishes that Ive tried were just terrible as the previous. I had clam chowder, which tasted like it came out of a can. It was very salty I couldnt finish it. Their "crab cake" omelette had no flavor in the eggs and I could not even feel the presence of crab meat in my mouth. I also ordered Caesar salad that comes with shrimps and found that the shrimps were still raw. The skewered chicken with rice came out hard and cold before I can even try it. My niece gave me her battered fried fish to try, but I couldnt eat it for her bc the fish was still uncooked from the inside. Likewise, her French fries were subpar in every sense of the word. They look like theyve been re-fried, and the texture was either really hard or really soggy. Even worse, they werent even seasoned and thus was tasteless. Finally, the service here was pathetically slow, slow, slow. It took about an hour before anything came to the table. Overall, I would probably not frequent this place on my own or with company.

i had the worst dining experience here yesterday. it was extremely disappointing considering the amazing view and the great space. our waiter for whatever reason had tables all over the place so he rarely showed appearances at ours. he also recommended the oysters when we first got there and then ended up forgetting to put the order in - we even asked about them 30 minutes into our meal and he let us know hed check on them. it wasnt until an hour and a half later when we asked again that he let us know he had forgotten to write it down. he also only took a few of our drink orders at the start of our meal before taking off to serve another table. when i asked for the manager, i let her know that service was not up to par, she didnt seem to even want to have us back (didnt offer to comp anything on our bill or anything). dont mean to be rude but to be honest she didnt seem competent AT ALL to be running a restaurant as large as this one. such a strange experience.

The menu is all over the place. Seems like this place is having an identity crisis. Hard to tell which plates were for sharing and which plates were for self. Oysters and champagne is the way to go. I like the tapas idea but the food has to get a lot better for it to work. I ended up with an assortment of food: 1/2 dozen oysters - I ate all six and five of them were good Korean Short Ribs - disappointing, overcooked Burger - good but overcooked. I asked for medium rare and the center was grey Mushroom Risotto - good not great Blackened Cod - horrible, couldnt finish it Vegetables - meh Really, I guess im giving it three stars because the service was good, I like the atmosphere and the view from Pacific City is awesome!

Expensive and food was very lacking. For an expensive place, I was expecting more. There is little to no customers and the staff was nice but ok customer service. The food was very bland to me but I dont know if that is because Im used to eating foods with lots of flavor but nothing really tasted good. For example, we got the steak and potatoes but when it came out, saw barely any steak and we asked for medium rare - it came out well done. Even the oyster wasnt that great. The only thing that was decent was the peach lemonade. Not likely I will ever come back. Ive had better.
