I used to love this place but hadnt been there in a while and my most recent visit was very disappointing. I had been craving lobster so I ordered the lobster tail to eat in and placed a take out order for the wild Mexican shrimp on pasta. When I received the lobster tail it was almost completely flavorless. I took a couple of bites and knew I couldnt finish it. By the time my waitress (Sofie) came back to the table, it was completely cold. Sofia was very accommodating and brought me a menu so I could order something to replace it. By then I had spent so much time there that I had to order my replacement dinner to go. I ordered the shrimp scampi. Sofie brought me the scampi to go and I reminded her that I had already placed a to go order for shrimp on pasta. She said they had just put it on to cook, but I think she had forgotten it or they would have brought both orders st the same time. When I got home I found that they sent two orders of scampi, but no shrimp on pasta. Along with these problems, I found the portions to be extremely small, even the baked potato was tiny. I dont see myself returning to this restaurant. I dont mind paying for decent size portions, but these meals didnt come close to being worth what I paid, not to mention all the screw ups.

My family loves this place and the food is great. They do, however, seem incapable of accommodating large parties (8 or more). Twice weve gone in a large group and even with a reservation (once), weve been squished to the point that its uncomfortable. It was like a game where they wanted to see who could fit the most people on the least amount of table space. Both times our chairs were all touching and there was barely room for all of our plates. Service is hit or miss. I dont like when our food is all misplaced and our drink glasses go empty. Again, big party problems but great for bonding. We just passed our remaining drink cups around our squished tables (no worries we were all close by) until our waiter showed up again. I would be more forgiving of these shortcomings if we werent paying $20+ a plate. Dinner, lunch, and brunch with smaller parties are a lot more comfortable and the server even seems happier and likes us better. So go in small parties. The food is always good but the service and human to table ratio are better that way.

I have been here for lunch recently and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, this time it was horrible. I ordered grilled mahi mahi (one of only 2 fish I ever order...the other being salmon) and I recieved halibut. It was overcooked. I also ordered the dutch potatoes (they were fine) and steamed brocolli......they were overcooked and cold. I should have sent the fish back, but it took too long to locate my server, so I stomached through it. The bill for my overcooked halibut was a rediculous 29.95. My boyfriend ordered the wild salmon.....while it was good, we were disgusted when the price for his meal was 34.95. I know this is not an inexpensive restaurant, but to pay that much (for wht he received) was rediculous. Our total meal came to $73.00 (that included one soda and tax). We recently went for fish this past weekend at Walts Wharf and got out of there for 45.00 with 2 non-alcoholic beverages and tax included. The food was 10 times better and service was awesome. Guess we know where to go next time.

Surprisingly good! My mom said that shes drove past this place a million times and has always wanted to eat there...fortunately for Fathers Day weekend we got the chance. We had the chance to enjoy their claimed "best clam chowder" which was pretty tasty but not the best that my husband and I have ever had. Their fish was fantastic! My husband order the freshly caught (from WA) King Salmon and it was was heavenly. The beer battered cod was divine. As a side note: Do not order any of their mixed drinks. Their Mixed drinks are watered down. Order wine/beer/something bottled. Also, for reference, the only bottled water they serve is Voss... Their ambiance of this place was elegant with lots of green throughout the restaurant. I recommend ordering their grilled fish (whatever the special of the day may be...go with it.)

This place used to be my go-to. Like, any time I wanted fish... I was here. The last two times Ive been it was not so great, which is disappointing because they recently renovated the inside and its gorgeous in there. This last time I went, I got the Cesar salad, because you HAVE to its always that good... and it was a HUGE let down. Wilted lettuce and the dressing was WAY too garlic-y (and this is coming from someone who constantly over-garlics everything I cook because I love garlic that much) left me wishing I would have gotten the clam chowder. My fish was okay, if not a little overcooked. We also had to beg for refills. I dont think well be back any time soon, which makes me very sad.

There was a bad smell in the restaurant, also, the food and wine were OK, but not worth the $98.00 price tag for two. We ate in New York a few days ago and paid $168.00 without wine and it was worth it! Using that experience as comparison, value for the dollar was sub standard at the Fish Company. We will not return. Final comment, the hostess indicated that a server would take drink orders, but I had to chase after the server, yet the hostess offered other customers drinks upon signing in. PS> We had a bottle of Robert Mendavi in honor of his passing last week, but the Mendavi choices were very very very limited!

We have been going to the Fish Co since it opened in 81, we lived just around the corner. The place has grown in size and popularity, enhanced its bar, fresh fish counter and the food is even better than before. Really good bar where you can eat when they are really busy and great staff. Great Vodka Martinis, steamers mixed are the best in OC, (green mussels and little neck clams.) We shared a nice Ceasar and a large plate of Alaskan King Crab legs followed by double espresso and Creme Brolee, the best!!! We will be back, its been way too long in between.

Been going here since it has opened. The fish is good but the side dishes are getting smaller and smaller and are getting bland. Best to load up on the great horderves and sour dough bread and order a small meal. FYI - Go early or real late, or you will wait a long time for a table and have a hard time parking. Try and get a table outside, since it is lighter and the air is much nicer in the spring and summer. Plus patio is less noisy away from bar TVs and kitchen entrances.

Wow! If this is supposed to be over the top best clam chowder, I dont know what I have been eating all these years. Too much celery totally overpowering the taste. Not even very creamy. My mother got the Manhattan style and it had cauliflower in it! Stick to the basics. Very disappointed. Waitstaff very attentive Also, very noisy atmosphere. Couldnt have a decent conversation without having to repeat ourselves several times. Music was too loud which made people talk louder.
