Gochis? My simple answer, "YES!" Great Japanese Tapas EVER! You cant back down when someone asks if youd like to have lunch or dinner at this fine establishment. Rules: 1. Do NOT skip on their appetizers. Practically everything you devour is delicious! 2. DO order a drink or two, maybe more? I love their flavored sake, as well as a glass of beer in hand. 3. Order EVERYTHING you CAN! Ive had the pleasure of having many courses of food here. I cant name the countless times Ive eaten their specialized Japanese "pizzas" to anything but their yummy clay pot dishes. My favorites, so far, curry korroke (potato curry puffs), kurobuta chasu (thinly sliced bbq kurobuta pork belly), okonomiyaki style (squid, side-pork, cabbage and okonomi sauce pizza), gyutan shioyaki (grilled beef tongue), ankimo (steamed monkfish liver in ponzu), salmon aburi (balsamic-ponzu, grated wasabi cucumber drizzled with truffle oil), etc. I wish to say more, but of course, youd have to come here and try these dishes yourself! FYI...dont forget they also have "specials of the day" menu! If you want to impress a business client, take them here! If you want to impress your date, take your date here! If you want to celebrate your birthday, invite everyone here! You get the idea!!! Service is impressive, decor is simple yet adorned Japanese style, and the food....youll want to come back for more! For the Yelpers who think this place is overrated, youre wrong. Theres no better place to get fine dining Japanese food! Ive had a difficult time to get anything close to REAL Japanese fusion tapas since my last trip there but this place gets all five stars! The restaurant may be expensive, but its for those who have palates to indulge and splurge on divine food! Plan ahead and make reservations! During dinner service, theyre well overbooked, so its easier to have a reservation than dropping in at the last minute if youre lucky to get a table. Overall, I have no complaints whatsoever! What are you waiting for?! Stop reading this and go!!

Gochi Fusion Tapas is a fun place to grab lunch or dinner. It has a traditional Japanese dining ambiance and an extensive menu. The small plates are perfect for sharing on a date or with a group of family or friends. TIP: make reservations in advance, especially if you are dining with a larger party! It gets packed during peak times. You can request seating at a table or "traditional" Japanese style on the floor. For lunch, the Tori Nanban Don is a steal at $11.50. The deep fried chicken and eggplant pair perfectly with the soy-garlic vinaigrette. I am drooling just thinking about this combo right now. Go for the full donburi + salad + miso soup set instead of the small donburi + udon set. I guarantee you will devour it! The menu also has a large selection of donburi and udon and bento to peruse. Dinner: fish enthusiasts will love their carpaccios -- my favorites are the sake and hamachi. Meat lovers will go crazy for the buta kakuni. Nothing beats tender pork with divine traditional japanese flavors. The fusion cheese pizzas are fun too! For dessert, the green tea creme brulee was smooth and creamy, though the portion was tiny! And, what Japanese meal is complete without black cod! The Gindara Munieru does melt in your mouth but the minuscule portion is definitely not worth $16.50. I recommend skipping this and ordering something else to get a better return on investment. My Mom insists on ordering the Mabo tofu Meshi clay pot every time we come here. The spicy pork, tofu, and crispy rice combo is tasty, but Id rather order different specialities on the menu that I cant easily find at other restaurants. If you do order a clay pot, go for the unagi instead. Tender Unagi + savory unagi sauce + crispy rice is a true winning combo. A couple times our clay pots have come out burnt, so be sure to remind your server that you dont want the rice overcooked.

Gochi is my absolute favorite restaurant in the Bay Area! They are a Japanese fusion izakaya-style restaurant, meaning they serve tapas with beer & sake. The menu is enormous and includes stuff ranging from traditional Japanese dishes like crab cream croquettes to fusion food like mentaiko pizza. My favorite dishes are the gyuutan kakuni jaga butter (beef stewed in butter-soy sauce), yaki onigiri (grilled rice balls), mentaiko pizza (pizza with a very thin crust, topped with cheese, fish roe and mushrooms), and the green tea creme brulee. The yaki onigiri is the best yaki onigiri Ive ever had in my life! Gochi is a good place to have a large group dinner, because you can get one of the private rooms with tatami mats and shoji screens. Just make sure to get a reservation though, because its always so full. The atmosphere is usually pretty lively and its sort of on the noisy side. One neat thing I discovered about Gochi is that you can order a giant bottle of sake and theyll keep it there for you for up to 6 months. So the next time you come back, you can ask them for the bottle and continue drinking it. Gochis a bit hard to find, its in a tiny plaza on Homestead that doesnt have much else in it.

Phenomenal restaurants! We tried probably around 8 or 9 different dishes, and each of them did not disappoint. My favorite was the korean beef / kimchi pizza, and I strongly recommend any hot clay rice bowl. The fried chicken wings were nothing special, and the potato curry croquette was pretty good. The yellowtail carpaccio was excellent; very fresh and well seasoned. The shimeji mushroom tempura was also nice - crispy and mild, with a most interesting green tea salt. The buta kakuni (braised pork) was very flavorful, but the portion was small. Beef salad was decent. I also tried the green tea creme brulee for dessert, and it was very good. It had a mild green tea flavor (rather than the usual overpowering artificial one). The ambiance was very comforting. They had traditional Japanese style seating and warm lighting. The staff was extremely polite and prompt. The individual prices seem high at first (for tapas), but we ended up paying only $30/each for an extremely satisfying meal, which was much lower than we were expecting to pay. The quality of the food was well worth the price. Be sure to make a reservation if possible, it seemed very crowded even for our 5:30pm reservation on a Sunday.

Gochi never disappoints. Ive been here for dates, taken friends for birthdays, and each time is just as special as the last. It gets crowded for dinnertime, so it helps to make reservations in advance, otherwise expect a looong wait. Must-gets: ankimo - the liver is cooked just right, and the ponzu sauce...drool any of the sashimi, but Im partial to sake and spanish mackerel gyutan - grilled beef tongue unagi claypot rice - so daaamn good! grilled pork belly green tea creme brulee Definitely ask the server for their own personal favorites. Gochi has a pretty extensive selection compared to other Japanese tapas place and the beautiful thing about tapas is that you can go wild with the menu, but still have so much more to try for the next time you come back...and you definitely would want to come back. I like sitting at the tables where you have to take off your shoes and sit Asian style. I love this place for medium-sized groups because then you get to order lots of different plates without feeling like such a porker, although that never stopped me either when I went with just one other person. Total tab for dinner can be lots of money...so Gochi can be a pretty expensive addiction =p.
