I have never written a review -- positive or negative. All I can say is please DO NOT go here. Bartender is great. Owner is horrible. It is a bar and he had his very older friends sitting at a table. They did not like (I think) that I, a white woman, was there initially with my African American boyfriend and one of my friends us and the "F" word to describe a horrible situation. He actually approached us and said it was not appropriate and should leave. Please know that I have never been asked to leave anywhere -- ever. I am a very fortunate and successful woman. I have been all over the world and have been welcomed everywhere. This was horrible. Really horrible.

Great new spot, I just stumbled upon this place. Its quite relaxing and calm, but Im also here on a Sunday. And they haunt even had the grand opening yet. But this place has a great early 1900s vibe. The place is clean, the staff is really nice and knowledgeable. They know their veers, wines, etc. Great place to grab a bite to eat, or a drink. Perfect ambient. You can hear each other over the calm classic music. I cant wait to check it out on a buddy weekend. Until then this place seems great for me on a Sunday after a late Saturday night.

The changes from the old "Village Pub" to the new "John Sparr", is utterly amazing. The layout, the transformation, the beauty...a sight to behold. When I first walked in, I was stunned. I felt happy, like walking into a familiar place. Adam, the mgr/bartender, was extremely polite & helpful with my multitude of questions I spouted off. What a relaxed atmosphere to dine in...I will definitely return again for what Im sure will be a wonderful dinner. I look forward to visit again & again.

It looks nice and according to my parents they have the best French Onion Soup they ever had. But this place is too expensive. I have had both tasty and disappointing food here. If you dig ambiance and dont care about the price tag this may be a good spot for you. For anyone else I would recommend the many other restaurants in Montrose.
