Revisiting their menu online, I cant ID the exact dish I had. I assume they have seasonal rotations and I was there a couple months ago, but anyway I believe it was a pork belly pasta dish. I had a quick single meal there my first night in Glen Ellen, only to get it for take out again the next night after I already had dinner right before. *That* good. I dont want to look like Im jumping the gun throwing them a perfect 5 because I dont know how dining with a party goes with customer service, but I really have no complaints. If anything, the night I did the take out was close to closing when there were only like 2 small parties finishing up. Still, I didnt get a sense of negative undertones from the staff for placing an order so last second.

They should add a 5 to the name because this place deserves 5 stars in every way. The tiny intimate space is wrapped neatly around a medium height bar looking into a beautiful brick oven firing the next great dish to perfection. For starters we went with Brussel Sprouts (in brown sugar-bacon marmalade) and the Corn Kernels (queso fresco, chipotle powder, fresh lime) which were both huge hits at the table. The suckling pig special was a huge hit at the table but mine own dish the Pork Belly was a feast unto itself. The quality of the dishes were only bested by the great atmosphere and warm ambiance of this amazing restaurant sure to be a huge success and hit in Sonoma Valley.

Excelente sorpresa!

Got a table for four right around 6 on a Sunday night, and we were BLOWN AWAY! Everything we got was fantastic, from the three pizzas that they offer to their cotija corn appetizer and brick chicken. Our family shared all of our dishes and we were all very happy with everything we got. We even got dessert (2 of their homemade ice creams and peach cobbler), and we normally dont even get dessert--it looked so good online we had to try it! The staff was also very knowledgeable about each dish and was very helpful and quick to make sure that we had everything.

Amazing culinary experience in an intimate restaurant. Just about every preparation of vegetables were extremely fresh and delicious. Ive never been a huge fan of corn, and I was instantly addicted to the corn and queso fresco. The white pizza was also a favorite of mine. For my main I had the Lamb ragu with gnocchi which was cooked perfectly throughout. To finish it all off, we had various flavors of homemade ice cream, my favorite was vanilla maple bourbon. Definitely a must visit in the Sonoma area!

The star is a fabulous place for dinner. Great atmosphere, though I found the heating in the enclosed patio to be a bit too aggressive for the March evening. We had a beet dish and an asparagus dish as starters, with chicken and lamb meatball dishes as mains. All were delicious and satisfying. Service was great as well. I enjoyed the humor in the way they listed the "beer menu" in the form of a wine list, with region (Milwaukee, Wis) and year.

If I could Id give 3.5 stars. After reading the reviews I expected something amazing for the prices. Was a little disappointed. I ordered rabbit pot pie. It wasnt bad. It was good. But taste was not really much different from what I couldve gotten at Safeway. The bread with honey and ricotta was AWESOME. Id definitely comeback again just for the bread. But as far as a main course. Mehh no so much. Maybe Id go for a pizza.

An simple yet interesting bar/restaurant in two adjacent buildings. Very helpful and attentive service and the food was good, but not quite what I expected for the price. A pretty limited menu really, which isnt necessarily a bad thing, but didnt help on this occasion. The mains (e.g. the fish or chicken) had minimal sides, so the highly recommended roasted vegetables (ala tapas style) were needed if you had an appetite.

I dont understand some of these reviews, I guess they are mostly friends of the owners. We just got the check and we couldnt believe how overpriced this place is. We ordered the sunchokes and cauliflower, half of it wasnt edible, it was burnt!! and the flavor is mediocre. The ravioli wasnt that great and totally overpriced, $24?? What a rip off! Service was slow. We are not coming back here. Very disappointing.

Amazing amazing amazing. Toe to toe with the best of Brooklyn. Reservations required and its always busy its so good. Revolving seasonal menu and out of the 10 or so things we ordered, only the lamb "bacon" pizza was so-so (too lamby), otherwise everything phenomenal: tomatoe pie, brussel sprouts, brisket empanada, bread, ice cream, bread pudding etc etc

Not a friend of the owners (but would like to be) and had a more than excellent dinner here! Other than the already highly praised food, I loved that everyone seemed to love working there. Like they truly are a cohesive team all working towards the same goal with sky high professionalism and attentiveness. Please open a restaurant in the South Bay?

We walked in at 630 on a recent Sunday night and grabbed two seats at the chefs bar where we got to enjoy an amazing meal and watch the chefs in action. Couldnt recommend this place enough. Fantastic food and attentive staff looking after us all night. We started with the brussel sprouts and recommend you should too.

Good, classically Californian food. You will not be disappointed with delicious fresh ingredients and a well rounded wine list. The space is small and low key but the food stands up to what you would expect in the area. I prefer the fig, but the reservation policy is more friendly at the star.

My favorite place to eat, not only in Glen Ellen, but all of Sonoma. The seasonal veggies are amazing and the pizza and ice cream always hit the spot. Casual environment; exceptional cuisine.

Excellent. Had the corn, the lamb pasta, and the bacon pizza. Everything was top notch. Head and shoulders above anything in town. In SF they would have a line around the corner.

The chicken could have been better for the price. Pizza was very tasty and I would recommend it. Overall, the star was good, but not spectacular.

Server was great, food was top shelf. Full fish and the tomato cream pie will do you well. Dont sleep on the ice cream either!!
