My roommate wanted to eat in Noe Valley, and Firefily popped up first on my search. I promptly made a reservation as Ive seen in the reviews that one is needed. We got there about 1.5 hrs before the reservation. Though the place was empty, they were full of reservations, so we were seated at the bar. The place quickly filled up afterwards. We ordered the Japanese sweet potatoes with duck sauce to share, and we each got our own fried chicken. Those sweet potatoes and homemade duck sauce were delicious! I could eat a whole bag of them. The fried chicken was good, and I especially liked the cole slaw. I dont like it when cole slaw is packed full of mayo. This one had a light dressing. The biscuit was so soft and fluffy, and really good with the butter and honey that comes on the side. I also got a pinot noir from Oregon (Cooper Mountain Willamette Pinot). So good!! I want to get a bottle of my own. I dont know the exact term for the dessert I ordered, but its like a tart. It came with seasonal fruits and ice cream. It was delicious! The bartender was very helpful and enthusiastic about the dishes. I really appreciate that! I usually dont have any questions when I order, but its nice to know that there was someone who is happy to help. Since it is Noe Valley and dinner service, prices are high. I usually dont have a budget when dining out, but I certainly wasnt expecting to put down $60. This restaurant is the type of place where you slowly enjoy food, wine, and company. So I say take as much time as you need. I would love to come back here once spring comes around to see what seasonal things are on their menu.

This place is SO CUTE! Took my girlfriend here for our anniversary, and unbeknownst to us, Tuesday night is fried chicken night! The fried chicken was small in portion, but REALLY good. Fried chicken comes in a lot of varietals; theres the super greasy, "fast food" style, breaded, battered, baked, chicken strips... you never quite know what youre going to get. The fried chicken at Firefly is very clean. Minimal breading, but its very tasty. The chicken inside is super moist. You get a breast, a thigh, and a drumstick (half a chicken). It was some of the tastiest fried chicken Ive ever eaten, and as far as fried chicken goes, probably some of the healthiest. No grease. The biscuit was easily one of the best biscuits Ive ever had. They dont make a big deal out of it, but lemme tell you. Its good. Its really good. They give you a little dish of honey, and even the HONEY was good. We also got pork rillettes and scallop/shrimp potstickers as appetizers. Both were outstanding. That seems to be the jam with Firefly. Simple food, stuff you could get a lot of other places, very understated, but done very well. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the place is really cute. Couldnt recommend it more for a cozy spot thats romantic, but not overly fancy or expensive.

Came here with my boyfriend, sister, and friend for dinner on a Saturday night. Overall the experience was just OK. Service was quite slow... we felt as though we had been ignored. The menu options were also just okay, it was missing items that I wanted try after reading others yelp reviews, i.e., no yellow soup, no duck breast! The warm homemade bread with spread was pretty good. I started with a kale salad with avocado which was great. The entree options were limited, so I ordered the steak with veggies, asking for it medium rare. My boyfriend ordered the cod and my sister ordered the pork belly. My steak came out rare. I ate it anyway. The fresh tomatos gave the dish a burst of flavor. My sister thought the pork belly skin was too crispy (so I got to enjoy it instead). Overall, the experience was a little underwhelming. My friend also thought our waiter was a little rude (when he had asked if our food was coming, all the waiter said, curtly, was Its coming.) Would probably try other places before coming back.

One of my favourite restaurants in the area, perhaps in San Francisco. Its a really relaxed, friendly, and beautiful little spot with great wholesome food thats fancy enough to feel like a great feel out but without being pretentious. It looks pretty unassuming but once inside has lovely mid-century design style, along with some very small but odd arty pieces (clay rabbits with human faces) that really work. Its a laid back but smart place - our waitress had fingerless gloves but a smart shirt also wont make you stand out. Very homely, with relaxed quiet music (expect to notice The Flaming Lips etc, if theres a lull in conversation) but its a great chatty enough place. Had the steak and it came in well-cooked thin pieces with a super salad. Pay attention to the menu for some charming lingo, and the desserts looked great, too. You might want to book: it was fairly busy even on a Tuesday night.

Its rare to find an affordable 3-course meal deal that can deliver with equal brilliance on all three counts. Four of us filled the center table in the lower part of the restaurant this past week and couldnt imagine fabricating a better, fuller experience than what Firefly presented us. Top to bottom, the $35 Pri Fixe menu will keep you greedily engaged with food and wine and, inevitably, conversing with devilish grins (the result of all things well done). Yupp. You get away with something you shouldnt have. The service is genuine, and the chocolate desserts will make you retarded. I remember stuttering, "You...have...to...try....the raspberry sauce...NOW..." before we were given the check. Simply wonderful.

I went here with a friend to celebrate her birthday and there were 4 other tables also celebrating birthday! They brought out tiny dishes of a fruit ice cream with a sparkler candle on top & those candles were working last night! We were there for their delicious fried chicken with mashed potatoes, yum! I will say that the biscuit really stole the show though! Our server said that he had another table ask for a side of chicken with her biscuits, and I was inclined to agree! They were the perfect size and so wonderfully flaky and buttery! They even come with this great tiny little dish of butter & honey to put on top. We finished up with their brioche apricot bread pudding. So good!

Parking in Noe Valley can be a little hard to find so plan accordingly. The casual atmosphere is fitting for a first date. Quarters are kinda tight so no hanky panky underneath the table. Shrimp and Scallop dumplings were pretty delicious. You can tell great scallops by the firmness/crispness. Though for 10 bucks I wish they could have stretched to 6 dumplings at the least. Grilled eggplant and tomato soup was a little on the bland side. Braised Lamb with Spatzle was well prepared. Lamb was tender and the accompanying sauce was savory. Chocolate Hazelnut combo was excellent. Expect to pay about 50 per person but it was a 50 well spent.

My friend, who happens to be a vegetarian, and I decided to try this place for dinner. I didnt really have any expectations because I hadnt done any research on it prior to dinner, but I have to say that if I did have any, they would have easily exceeded those expectations! The ambience was absolutely fantastic--quiet, comfortable, and unpretentious. The food was, in a word, superb. For the appetizer, my friend and I shared the green pea pancake and it was delicious. I got the salmon as an entree and it was equally amazing. Overall, this place is a must try and Ill definitely be visiting again soon!
