Fish tasted fresh and leftover rolls and dishes were even good the day after. Didnt realize the Chili Salmon Spider was a roll but it was tasty. Ordered mackerel, mirugai, hamachi toro, amberjack and albacore nigiris. Cuts were huge and rice was barely noticeable. Wouldve been good if the fish was amazing but only really liked the mirugai. Expected toro to be good but cut was way too thick and fish was bland. (We wanted the tuna toro but they didnt have it) Oysters were small and were not shucked all the way (? Muscle still intact so it was difficult to slurp). Would not order again. Service is super slow but that was to be expected on a Saturday night. Put our name down on wait list at 8:30pm and got seated around 9pm (wait was supposed to be an hour) but didnt get acknowledged until 9:15p and dont think food came out until closer to 10pm. Parking is in lot. Ample waiting area. Will come back on a non peak hour time and try different fish

ALL ATWITTER! Dublin, Calif., folks are all atwitter about Amakara, a "contemporary Japanese" darling. I want on a Thursday night. It opens at 5 p.m. By the time the doors opened, there were some 40 folks in line to eat that night. In talking to someone else in line, I discover that it used to be that lines only formed on weekends. Now, its every night Amakara is open. One reason is likely that the chef here serves some highly imaginative food. For example, he grills edamame with olive oil (not steams) giving it an extra tasty dimension of flavor. He serves foie gras sushi, made with monkfish liver, which is a better idea than it is a fulfilling execution. How about an oyster shooter, with a quail egg yolk in sake or Kurobuta pork belly with kimchi? Theres much to choose from and Im definitely headed back there.

Date night : Our table should have never existed. Our table was located in the corner of the restaurant that had multiple flies, paint peeling off the walls in chunks. A line of paint about 4 feet high peeling off the wall. The waitress got our order, served the meal, and at the end of the dinner asked me for a refill on our water and soda. Never once did they refill our drinks until 45 min later. The food was decent, but very expensive for the presentation and decor. the wasabi was not real and it was served on the sushi dish. A decent sushi place will provide you a separate plate with the wasabi and ginger. 2 rolls - $39. I have had better sushi at a hole in the wall. I will never go back.

One of the hidden treasures in the East Bay. I love going to this restaurant to get some ramen. It only comes with some corn and simple veggies, and no meat, but its so delicious. Beware though, their spicy is quite hot so take that into account when ordering. We saw a couple the other day splitting a beef teriyaki, and it looks so damn good. The beef teriyaki is big, cooked medium with some pink in the middle. Heck, it almost looks like a steak! So we did the same thing. Order one portion of beef teriyaki with extra rice, and split it for two people. So delicious. If its closer to my place I would definitely go more often. It can be quite crowded in the weekend so plan ahead.

The foods tasted pretty good. The atmosphere was pleasant. The waitress was polite & friendly. However, the hot sake we ordered was not hot enough, the foods we ordered served slow. The next table came way after ours, but their cook foods were served at least 15 min before our sashimi. We are pretty patient customers, but that was a bit over my tolerable limit. The roll was not prepared tight enough. They started falling apart when they were pickup. The skill of the sushi chef is questionable. Overall, we will give it a 2nd chance.

I ate here today with my family. First, our roll came after the appetizer because they forgot the ticket. I had my two kids waiting for endamames for 25mins, that is ridiculous. The Rainbow roll, seriously $13 for it, I have had way better at sushi spots in Pleasanton (Meiko and Zakuro) and also at Yanagi in Dublin. The beef was well flavored and cooked well too. It was way too noisy; I like to talk with my family over dinner, not able to here; not sure what all the hype is about this spot. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

Made reservations for 6. At the last minute my 5 year-old nephew wanted to join us. I informed the man at the front counter we needed an extra chair for a child, otherwise he could sit on my lap. The guy was so rude!! He said. "fine this time, but we wont allow it the next". Its not that I didnt offer to have the child sit on my lap. The rudeness is unacceptable!! Food is ok for the valley. Weve all had much better as we live in the South Bay that has much better selections, and quality. Most likely wont be back.

Came at a bad hour on a bad day (8:00 pm on Friday) waited 45 minutes for table for 2 (cant complain though, I was told 45 minutes and chose to wait anyway). When seated, our waitress would hardly pay attention to us probably because of the busy dinner hour. I ordered a rainbow roll (five types of raw fish on a California) with an unagi (eel) hand roll on the side. Was very pleased but nothing too special but sushi is easy to mess up which earns this place 4

im not yet a regular (ive been here twice) and judging on my occasional visits, their service is consistent & the place has a pleasant atmosphere. As for the food, it is DELICIOUS! The first time ive had chicken katsudon, and was very pleased. The portion was HUGE, and wow... this place is awesome. The presentation was beautiful, and for the price it was well worth it! Now that I work around the corner from here, theyll probably see me a lot more often!

The food and service was great. I asked to give my friend a gift card before the food was served. Manager said great!. Bill is being delivered, instead of gift card it was applied to her bill. Great! He didnt explain that to me. Instead he said if u wanna surprise ur friend plan ahead! And told me I was very rude. And I cussed. Well Im the customer spending alot of money to eat here. I said I will never eat here again. He said Thank god. Never again

The environment is very busy and hectic even on a Wednesday. They let me try a small piece of the mirugai that I never had before which was very nice. They were sold out of the best sashimi, uni and toro, and when I told the waiter that Id take the check for my starter and come back another time he seemed dismissive and didnt make any more eye contact.

Well if you love freshness you got to come here. It is not open all day and yes, it is always packed so get there early or prepare to wait! Is it worth it? Oh yeah! The waitresses tent to be faster and more knowledgable, the drinks are great too (chocolate tsunami being my fav!) And yes, a bit pricey but quality comes with it. :-) Love the place.
