I use to come here all the time for lunch. Really affordable lunch menu, especially for financially challenged college students. I usually got their cashew chicken, fried rice and sweet and sour soup lunch choice. Filled me up and sometimes i would have enough to take back (most of the time i would just man up and finish it all though :D ) They remodeled and moved locations a few years ago so the place is bigger and new. But I miss the old location that was up stairs. Reason why? Because my buddy and I would sit by the window and watch people fail at parallel parking. I didnt realize how horrible people are at parrallel parking. So not only did we have tasty affordable food, we had hilarious entertainment! That is what I call 2 birds with 1 tasty stone!

One time, I was there and waiting for my food, when a small bird of some kind came in an sat across from me. Im just kidding hahaha, it wasnt a bird it was a boy, silly auto correct. anyway this boy came in and sat across from me, and since I wasnt expecting anyone, I decided to Ignore him. I finished my meal, payed my bill and left. and since then have not been back, in fact I have not been anywhere. I cant get my self to get up and go out of my house. I am living off of the food in the pantry but i fear it may soon run out. in time I will be force to leave, but when I do you can count on me going to Hunan, the best place in town to meet new people and enjoy a good wonton

Really good food. The prices were reasonable because you get a nice serving. The combo is torally worth the extra $3. The Mongolian Beef was excellent, but a few small pieces were a tad too chewy. The sauce was good, and not oversauced. The orange chicken was nice. They do a very, very light breading. Although there was an excess of orange sauce on the plate. The chinese dumplings (or pot stickers) were nice. Very filling. The rice is exactly what you would expect. All of the staff was very friendly. Very intentive. Even if they were not directly your waiter/waitress. The bathroom was clean and nice.

Its my first time in the town and I was randomly walking on the street and looking for a restaurant. I saw from the street level a big "OPEN" sign in the second floor window. I decided to give this Hunan Bar & Restaurant a try. I am glad I tried. I ordered a dish of Bok Choy and Beef Chow Fun. It tastes great. I also had a "Nevada draft". It was bitter sweet. The environment is great and busboy is super nice. Highly recommended for new comer in the town. I had a chance to chat with a waitress and she said the restaurant has been there for 20 years. Didnt it tell you something!!

The waitress ( the older lady) was SO RUDE she didnt give us enough place mats and was so impatient with us and had such a bad attitude we didnt do or say anything mean and we werent even rude to her so her attitude was uncalled for But MORE IMPORTANTLY WE FOUND A BUG IN OUR WAR WONTON SOUP! Mind you the soup had literally 2 shrimp in it! Yuck! Ugh We were exhausted after a long day and thought this place would cheer us up with its usual amazing food and hot tea BUT NO it made the night worse and we could not wait to get out of there! NEVER going back again!

强烈推荐这里的辣锅和盖浇饭。从分量看性价比挺高的,比成都style便宜多了,又够辣。环境不错,值得当饭堂的地方 Food is spicy and hot enough. The environment is clean. Employees are nice. I will eat there every week.

Ive come here two times with my boyfriend and both times we received the most terrible service anyone has ever received. The food was phenomenal but the staff was not friendly and was actually somewhat aggressive. Their hours on the door are not coinciding with the hours the cooks leave. I would just go here for the food because my boyfriend really loves Hunan. The only aversion that I have with this place is the bad customer service.

The taste of the food & the wait time of food being served after ordering are somewhat like what we normally have at any Americanized Chinese fast food restaurants. Food probably were precooked & kept warm in food warmer. I wonder what the judging criteria are being "the best Chinese restaurant in Davis. If you like greasy, salty & food with bright red color, go for it.

YOU MUST ASK FOR the CHINESE VERSION MENU!!! They will give you an American Chinese food menu (my friends said it was terrible) if there are no Asia faces with you because they think you cant eat spicy food... That sounds weird but the Chinese version menu is pretty good and I recommend the boiling beef!!!

I called to place to order for dilivery. The guy that answerd the phone told me that they only diliver to Chinese people. In shock I repeated it to him to confirm and he indeed said yes we only diliver to Chinese people. I will be taking my money elsewhere.

Great place to go if you want some really cheap delicious food. Their lunch plate specials are really tasty and filling. They have some type of meat, noodles or rice, and a rangoon. Also an orange slice for dessert.

For more reviews of Hunan see the Daviswiki, it has way more reviews and gives a better picture of the business. As far as Im concerned, its the best value for cheap Americanized Chinese food in Davis.

It is wonderful place to eat dinner during the day. I am full, happy and have more ENERGY to work. I recommend for each who look lovely, and tasty and good for each student kitchen.

Food is great. I come here all the time for their lunch special. General chicken is awesome. Honey walnut shrimp is also amazing. Love it and would totally recommend to a friend.

Great prices on large portioned lunch meals. If you happen to order to-go, dont forget to mention the 10% off thats written on the front of the menus or they wont give it to you!

Fast cheap food with a sparce ambiance seemingly targeted at thrifty college students. Used to have a more family/upscale focus but that has shifted over the years.

An interesting restaurant that forms part of the Avillez restaurant empire which includes a 2 Michelin starred restaurant. The food is rooted in the traditional

Great lunch specials. Food is excellent and for $7 you get a ton of food (fried rice, chow mein, entree and egg roll). Service leaves more to be desired.

New ownership has brought in some ridiculously good, authentic Chinese food. Service is quick and card splitting is allowed but with a small surcharge.

I have always love this place, it looks like they have changed management. Their service can be a hit or miss sometimes but overall their food is great!

Quite dirty at the first sight. The worst and most disgusting food I ever had. Ate almost nothing and payed $40 for two person. I cannot recommend.

Cold foods and crappy service. You can tell they are trying to make money from students Give the minimum amount of foods for take-out orders
