My wife and I, and friends, have been frequenting Harbor Grill since the 80s - and we keep coming back. Harbor Grill is the ideal restaurant when you want superior food, superior service, and a casual beach ambiance. For out tastes, Harbor Grill has it all - and its reasonably priced! If you like swordfish, the Pacific Swordfish Marinated Japanese Style is a mouth watering treat that youll be talking about for weeks. Its outstanding! I also love their Red Rainbow Trout with Cucumber Dill Sauce, Cajun Blackened Seabass and Barbequed Shrimp Louisiana Style. Mmmm. My Norwegian wife especially loves their Grilled Salmon with Basil Pesto Sauce or Red Thai Curry Sauce, as well as the Seared Ahi Tuna with Sesame Honey Mustard Dressing. Weve ordered countless meals and every one has been delectable. And for weekends, their patio is a prefect way to spend a relaxing afternoon amid the beach environs. Harbor Grill has it all. Its a special gem for those who value food and friends over glitz and glamour. Its one of our absolute favorite restaurants in all of O.C.

We were seated promptly upon arrival..than seated by the window, and forgotten. We sat for 15 minutes before a hostess asked if we wanted water. Which was brought quickly by her. we told her that we were ready to order but had some questions about the menu. She walked away talking. Than we sat for 15 more minutes and watched what I assumed was our waitress taking orders and bringing out food for two other tables.30 minutes after being seated and with no acknowledgement from our server we got up and walked out. The menu was penciled in with higher prices than any of the other smaller restaurants. As we left no one said anything, until I turned around to talk to the manager. Dont know if I did because the woman I told of our experience about why we were leaving didnt seem to care. Well its tourist season so I guess they can afford to be horrible! Stay away unless you have ALOT of time to wait.

Let me sum it up: Small portions, cheap drinks, surly & slow wait staff, large prices. It was obvious our waitress wanted no part of a 2 person table, she only catered to the larger parties. First thing said to us after we were seated no more than 45 seconds - have you decided what you are having because I am busy. Asked management for another person and was told they dont change staff at tables. Okay my wife said seat us at another table and were told none were available with 1/2 the place empty. Need any other reason to avoid this place?

I had a very unpleasant experience at this establishment, and will not be returning, or recommending it to anyone. Having worked in the restaurant industry, I was really surprised and disappointed by the on duty manger, who completely unprofessional! Food was alright, but portions were small, and it was waaay overpriced for what I ordered. I would recommend putting this establishment on your, "list of places to definitely avoid".

Wife and I came here as a random day out. We started with the half dozen of Oysters. She had the Lobster Roll (which I ate half of) and I had the Ahi. I would of like to see a larger selection of tap local brews, but theres still something for everyone. Chill atmosphere, covered patio seating. A bit on the upper side of pricing so prepare to spend $100+ to enjoy completely.

great grilled fish with good and friendly service. Liked the wine list, not a bad mark up. But ...... The fish " preparations" were just different dipping sauces on the side, no flavor infused into the fish. The sides were so bland you would have been "chopped" by the judges on Chopped and lectured about cooking with salt and seasoning

I just love the Harbor Grill. It was recently remodeled and looks really great. I love that we can eat on the water. The service is fantastic and the meals are really good with fresh seafood. The halibut is amazing. It’s so nice to be able to eat on the patio and look at the marina views.

First time in California ever...traveling for work. Had dinner here as group of six and everyone ordered something different and zero complaints. Wait staff did a fabulous job and we were well taken care of. When Im back in January, I will definitely have dinner here again.

Excellent dining experience. It is not right on the water, but the patio is very pleasant. Service was excellent, helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. Quality food, well prepared and for a very reasonable price. Very good Wine selection.

The noise level made conversation difficult. I enjoyed the live piano, but feel it only added to the noise level as people were trying to talk over it. However, our meals were excellent, and I would return based on the food alone.

Best smoked fish appetizer (Halibut house smoked). They´re also one of the few local places that serves delicious Carlsbad oysters. Excellent service in a so-so atmosphere....but youre really here for the food...right?!?

Love this restaurant. Seafood is great and so is the bar. Like sitting on the patio. Locally owned for many years, father and son, they always go out of their wat to satisfy their customers who return over and over.

Need to reinstate the sourdough. Please owners if you are listening bring back the goods. Good seafood for sure. Seemed like maybe a sewage problem was going on? I would only sit outside going forward.

In the Dana Point harbor but minus the harbor view. They make up for that, somewhat, by offering perhaps the best food in the area. But they also offer the highest prices in the area.

quick service and the pizza was delicious. The crust nice and thin just the way I like it. When we arrived the place was full so maybe you need to make reservations in advance.

For the price, it is not worth in my opinion. They serve cold bread and small portions, dont make reservations correctly and charge 20% tips whether you like the food/service.

Best Dana Point restaurant and best seafood restaurant in Orange County. If you visit Dana Point Harbor, visit the Harbor Grill. Weve been going there for 30 years.

One of the best seafood restaurants in Orange County. My favorite is the scallops in red curry sauce over mashed potatoes. Amazing!

The Poor atmosphere goes with the food. Very over priced. Crabcakes at $17 should be fresh crab not frozen. Very disappointed.

Good choices abound in the seafood department. Service is good, and they will help you make a selection if you ask.
