Wow! What a lousy experience this was on 01/10/2017 around Happy Hour. First we were to be pretty much ignored by the hostess when my friend and I entered and approached the podium for a table. So we sat ourselves on the patio and proceeded to wait for at a good 10 minutes still without any acknowledgment. There was a gentleman that seemed to be a manager or someone in charge that fallowed us out but ignored us as well even though I had thanked him because I thought he was seating us. I thought he was talking to us but he was just on his cell phone talking to someone else. Im pretty sure he was management because of the way I heard him speak to the other employees at the kitchen when we had to come back in to order our drinks at the bar. The young bartender man did not greet us as we sat down; instead we had to get his attention by making it obvious that we wanted to order by speaking as if we had just came in from the cold. He held his back towards us not readily responsive and speaking away from us instead of to us while asking what we wanted. We ordered our drinks and continued back to the balcony. He did NOT thank us for the order as I recall yet we left him a tip anyway. Eventually after about 20 minutes or so another young man came out to ask us if we would like to order some food or something, yet with no menus in hand. His professionalism did not strike me as that of a waiter. Perhaps a bus boy or something. The food left something to be desired and was way over price for a happy hour. Generic fish tacos, and salsa was bland and could have come from a jar. $11.00 beer ? really?? Even as we left during the short time we were there, still no acknowledgement or thanks for patronage as we passed by the podium. I have lived in Point Loma my whole life. My father and my grandparents have taken us here when I was younger many times and we always loved it. Unfortunately if we hear about the same experience from other family and friends we will never visit your establishment again and advise others not to as well. My friend and I have spent good money at Brigantine in Point Loma in the past but were extremely disappointed this time. I feel it is primarily due to poor management. I want you to know Im only being honest. Take from it what you will. Its your business. Fred

They failed in so many ways. I go in and they say seat yourself with the wave of a hand. I sit and the menu is a strip of paper with small plates only. We thought it too late to go elsewhere and just decided to consider the small plates. A few min later I ask is there a menu we dont have and the answer is yes, then nothing, staring at me. I ask to see it and the waitress says the other side of the room is for the large menu but we could still order from it. I was like, okay? We get our menus with a little confusion and I order the lobster because its a big night for our group and so did my friend. Maybe I dont read menu so carefully but the lobster was deep fried, and I mean the shell is battered and the whole thing is deep fried. So on what planet do we eat deep fried exoskeleton? The waitress just vanishes for the next 45 min. The deep fry process shrinks the lobster meat so much it was equivalent to about four shrimp worth in total amount. Deep frying also destroys the good flavors in lobster. My final bite was rotten and almost made me spew it out. I took the last few sips of my drink to clear out my mouth but no refill would come, at all for any of us. Our group was focused on business related and light hearted topics and none of us wanted to make the whole thing any worse, so we just left notes and left. We were well dressed, ready to spend a lot, had quiet conversation, but completely blown off by all staff. I had a 30 min ride back to my hotel and the aftertaste was so horrific I had to stop at Carls Jr for a strawberry shake and these little chicken wraps covered in red sauce, all just to cover up the sick flavors left in my mouth. Disgusting place.

My wife and I were visiting and had the most wonderful time. form the time we walked in the door even though we were just visiting we were made to feel that we were regular costumers. the host was pleasant and found us a nice table with a view quickly. the server was very helpful in making recommendations on drinks and our meal. seafood was fresh and tasty. the manager a very lovely lady even stopped by to check that everything was ok and since she is a San Diego native gave us some great tips on places to go and see. cant say enough about our experience. thanks Brigantine

Stayed on the harbor and walked into the Brigantine because of the fresh oysters on the sign. Very unassuming building but we were blown away when we walked up stairs. Very cozy, modern looking dining room. We sat at the bar as we were just looking to have a drink and an appetizer. The staff was great and attentive. She explained all the different oysters they offered (as a Texan I had no idea and learned a lot!) and really made us feel important, even though the room was fairly busy. Modern harbor decorations and a huge fireplace made this a unexpected gem.

Great seafood and the portions are more than generous! I had the seafood combo with batter fried scallops, shrimp, clams and white fish fillet. It came with all that and two sides!! So much food I was stuffed. The scallops were perfectly moist and fresh. Everything was battered and fried which filled me up faster. We did make reservations but it was a pretty big restaurant didnt seem necessary. The wait staff was amazing and prompt. Overall a great seafood joint you cant go wrong and the prices are pretty great as well. (My whole meal was about $19)

Great view of the Del Mar Race Track and an excellent location for viewing the 4th of July Fireworks...just make sure to arrive early so that you can get a seat in the bar area up next to the balcony. If you want to try to book a table, you may have to do it more than a year in advance for the 4th or any major holiday. The food is pretty good. I really liked the calamari and the coconut shrimp is amazing! Also, the Moscow mules come in copper cups, so extra points for that.

Shrimp appetizers are delicious, combo plate wasnt, steak was okay. Breaded fish, scallops and clams were overcooked. Beware of the huge amount of horseradish in the cocktail sauce! Menu is a bit confusing and then you can sit in lounge where there are 2 menus to order from but only 1 in dining area? Should be able to order from either. Place is dated, hostess and mgr/owner is a bit edgy. Wait staff is very good, helpful and always asking if you need anything else.

My family and I really like this restaurant! Its become one of our favorites. The kids always enjoy the atmosphere and the wait staff is always friendly and the service is always quick. The food is nothing out of the ordinary, but when youre craving seafood, it does the job! They have good kid friendly items and the prices for even the more expensive items is reasonable. We go here about once every other week or so upon the kids request.
