My family of 6 made a reservation for Sunday Evening and arrived on time. We were taken upstairs on the patio and the Hostess proceeded to seat our 6 around a single small table in the middle of the patio. As I came up the stairs I noticed that we would not fit comfortably around and asked if we could take one of the empty tables to make our visit more comfortable. I was told by the hostess that they were all reserved and as I was conversing with her regarding an alternative seating option a waitress steamed by and harshly addressed me as my family is standing around this inadequate table telling me that they are not "authorized" to change the table to the one I suggested. They could see that the table we were being offered was inadequate and then proceeded to make a huge scene moving a table from another location and chairs to increase the size of the table they were forcing us to take. Neither the hostess or waitress were pleasant to my family and made us feel as though we were a burden for them. Moments later the same hostess and waitress separated the table I suggested we be seated at and sat two couples separately. Our bill for the experience was nearly $400 and a 20% gratuity was included which robbed our family of the opportunity to show our disapproval. The restaurant staff is exceedingly unpleasant, not a single person took a moment and presented us with a smile or a kind word of gratitude for choosing their establishment over a another restaurant. We left Watermans Harbor feeling unappreciated and more of a burden for having gone there. The food was fine but the experience diminished the culinary element to the point that we just wanted to leave as soon as we could finish eating. Perhaps that is their objective. My family does not frequently dine out as my wife is an exceptional cook. Therefore, when we go out for dinner we choose locations for the experience and to have a pleasant time with exceptional food. Our experience at Watermans Harbor Restaurant last night lacked both primarily due to an unpleasant staff lacking "authorization" to make the necessary decisions to give a family such as mine an exceptional dining experience. Please do not waste your time or money on this restaurant as they have clearly lost their way relative to customer care and service. There are many wonderfully exceptional dining locations throughout Dana Point and San Clemente where you and your family will feel exceptional and appreciated! Happy dining my friends.

My wife and I dined on the patio on Sunday afternoon Oct. 9th. The male waiter was most delightful. We enjoyed cocktails and appetizers and eventually ordered dinner. My wife ordered a bowl of clam chowder and was delivered in a short time. I ordered Ahi Tuna rare and after 15 minutes our waiter returned and told us there was a mix up in the kitchen. This occurred a second time. A man arrived, introduced himself as a manager and presented 2 bowls of chowder and apologized commenting he would make an adjustment on our bill. 15 minutes later another manager arrived and said the meal would be up shortly and again our bill would be adjusted. The meal arrived in 10 minutes. My wife had already finished her meal and watched while I finished mine. The waiter presented the guest check with no comment. No manager returned to our table. While exiting I spoke with the manager, David Jones, and told him he nor his colleagues followed up on our inconvenience. He said he lost track but ask for our names and phone number. He wished to make the problem right and would contact me with an invite to revisit the restaurant to "make things right." We have not heard from David Jones or anyone else. Poor operations and kitchen management, lack of sincerity and follow through. In todays food service industry there are several restaurants to choose from to spend entertainment dollars. Suggest ownership focus on retraining managers to be more customer focused on customer service.

Holy cow! We, my Sister and I, went to Watermans on Sunday around noonish, we were seated by a huge window and were able to watch all types of water vehicles coming and going which was great! We had a difficult time deciding from the options on the menu but we decided even before ordering, the Truffle Mac-n-Chesse was going to be a "to go". Then we chose the Cocunut Shrimp and the Ceviche to share. We kept the menu just in case....we should have ordered 2 of the Shrimp it was AMAZING!! Then we ordered the Fish-n-Chips....the fries were SO yummy! The only negative was even after having to ask for another water, it was over 5 minutes before it arrived and that was after we had to ask again. Next time I will order each water plus a pitcher of water with extra ice. However, either the manager or owner, came to our table to speak with us, that was a nice touch. Our server was very sweet, our food arrived chilled and hot. A new favorite place in Dana Point!! Thank you!

We had dinner at the patio because we took our shitzu with us. I asked for a chair so our dog can sit, but the lady said NO, even though my dog was wearing a cute shirt. I hope they sanitize the floor for the parvo virus, since there were other dogs there too. When our food was served, we had no utensils to eat with. When I asked for them, the same lady started putting fork and knives on the table. We did not get the ones that were rolled up with cloth napkins. I had to call the waiter to request those, so we can have napkins. Im not sure if we were treated like that because we were Asian. I did not say anything to management because I did not want to upset my daughter who took us out for dinner. The food was good though, however I wont be going back here. Im sure I can find another restaurant in the area that sells cheeseburgers for $18.00 , who will treat us better.

Ordered a $15 hamburger which was totally tasteless. It was supposed to have onion rings and bacon but the onion rings were so small they looked like tiny strings and there was one small slice of bacon which fell off and I didnt find it till after about the third bite. And three bites was enough for me. The french fries, what few there were, were soggy and looked like they were burned. The only good thing was a glass of iced tea that cost $5! My wife had a Caesar salad, (also $15) and although she said that she liked it, it certainly wasnt a $15 salad! The bill for a hamburger and salad plus two drinks...$43!! I guess the idea is that if it costs an outrageous price it must be a wonderful place to eat.Sorry, over priced and lousy food. Well never eat there again.
