Ok I have to say I agree 100 as a matter of fact 1000 percent with all of the review’s on here Yes they have the best Fresh fish that you can find yes they don’t have the best decoration or ambiance, but the quality of the fish way over comes that. You can literally say you found the whole in the wall with the best Sushi around in the OC. HOWEVER coming a couple months down the line the quality Has Really dropped Tremendously I DID NOT decide to write this review on my first bad experience because i decided to give them another chance to redeem themselves, i said maybe it was just a bad batch, after going 8 times after my bad experience it’s not the batch they really dropped the quality of the fish. After giving them 8 opportunities to redeem themselves I have decided to write this review. I’m sorry Sushi SHO I have been your customer for many Years and taken many people to your restaurant and recommended it, but i will No longer be eating Here OR taking any of my customers here or recommending it.

My buddy Chuck Kelly told me he wanted to take me to Sushi Sho today and when we rolled in we were greeted by the waitress and the guy behind the sushi bar, who turned out to be Nipon, one of the owners. Chuck ordered the Luncheon Special with 6 large pieces of sushi and a California Roll. The special also came with miso soup and a nice green salad, plus a dessert of sliced orange marinated in plum wine. I decided to go for that one myself so I told Nipon to make it two. The service was pretty much instantaneous and extremely friendly. Chuck was a regular so he and Nipon were old friends. I was surprised by the large size of the sushi. And I was really impressed with the presentation and taste. It was pretty great all around. That sliced orange was terrific. The whole thing came to just $10.95 plus tax & tip. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it and Im likely to go back anytime Im in the neighborhood. Pat Durkin

We have been going to Nippons place for quite a while (6 orders of deep fried jalepenos in one sitting - a record) and have never had a bad experience. The fish is always fresh and the Itames are absolute artists. Nippon knows the meaning of omakaze - you really get some awesome culinary creations. For my birthday Nippon asked if I wanted a free desert or "Birthday Sushi" - you can guess what I wanted. We took pictures. Best thing I have ever eaten. he deep fried this roll, covered it in Jalepeno and Wasabi roe and served it to me. OMG - it was heaven..... We still go all the time. You can tell you are a regular when you have personalized sticks - my daughter (8) has her own personalized sticks - we visit a lot.

Look, you may find a sushi/Japanese restaurant in a location you better prefer. You may find one with an interior you like better or with an ambiance you prefer. You may find one with chefs and/or wait staff you like more. You may find one with "special rolls" that are more to your liking. You may. But you will not find one with better or fresher sushi anywhere this side of the Pacific Rim. They can get very busy, so do choose when you dine accordingly. Try this place. You will not be disappointed, I promise you.

This is a very friendly and attentive place. It feels like a family owned business. The same sushi chefs are there every time I go to this restaurant. It makes for consistently delicious tasting rolls. The fish is fresh and the prices are VERY reasonable. The sushi bar seating is at a premium at peak hours. Two flat screen TVs usually show sports. The middle of the restaurant is open so it gives you the feeling of space and prevents the restaurant from feeling too crowded even when its full. Love the place!

The sushi was pretty good, but trying to get service was difficult at best! They seemed overwhelmed for a Thursday night. Only two waitresses, who would only help if you flagged them down. Orders were extremely slow to come out. They never checked on how things were. The interior is worn. Would be two stars, but like I said, the sushi was pretty good once we got it, so giving it three stars. We wont be back.

Tried placing an order over the phone and my son ended up getting the wrong order, he couldnt understand what was being said. He tried to explain the roll he wanted and usually gets when we order from there and didnt get what he ordered. Once home, my wife sat down to eat her dinner and found a 4-5in hair in her Heart attack roll. We used to love coming here but after this we will find a new place.

Sushi was super fresh and delicious, not to mention affordable. Got there around 6:30-7 found parking in the lot right away. Service was fast until around maybe 7:30-8 when every table filled up. But they certainly did their best to accommodate!! We will definitely be back.

This place is a little hidden gem in Costa Mesa, CA. It is definitely a local favorite spot, I have been going here for years. My favorite rolls are the Yummy roll, Greg Teal Roll, and the Sho Special Hand Roll. I highly recommend the sushi here!

The quality of the fish is higher than other local casual sushi places, their maki rolls offer a nice variety of flavors and some truly delicious combinations.

The fish was not fresh. The selection was limited. They drowned sashimi in way too much sauce to hide lack of freshness.

Nipon and big dogg are both great. Lobster handrolls keep me real fresh. Thanks for the consistancy.
