We have visited quite a few Mexican Restaurants in Westchester. Many of them are no longer in business. Not necessarily a reflection on the restaurant, since 90% of restaurants cannot last past 3 years. (Insurance Industry records) Rancho Grande provides the best in terms of service, atmosphere, taste and value. The facility is fairly large in comparison to many other Mexican Restaurants. This allows for a somewhat private dining experience during less busy hours. (Other restaurants - Casa Maya Mexican Grill in Scarsdale is so small and noisy, that you cannot hear yourself think!) Rancho Grande, while "child friendly", has NOT turned into the "Chuck E. Cheese" of Mexican Restaurants like Blue Moon Mexican Cafe in Bronxville has. (AND that is a GOOD thing!) Unlike many Mexican restaurants, Rancho Grande has wait staff FROM Mexico. Other Mexican restaurants have opted to hire whoever is cheapest. (College kids, other ethnicities) If the food is good, perhaps I should not care about this, but it DOES lend an air of authenticity to the experience. I usually go for the tacos, but decided to venture out of my comfort zone recently, and tried the "Botanita Grande" and the "Grilled Chicken Quesados". Both were excellent, and the Chicken on the Quesados was the winner for the evening. It was definitely grilled, unlike what you normally taste in restaurants as "Grilled". My wife had the Ne gra Modelo and I had the Modelo Especial. (Ne gra intentionally with a space in it, since the pinheads at Google think it is an "Inappropriate Word"...IT MEANS DARK BEER - - look it up in Google Language, you kneejerk reactors!) Anyway...We both enjoyed our drinks. As others have said, the taco chips which came out when we were seated were nicely warned, and we were given two big bowls of salsa - despite the fact that there were only two of us. When I am comfortable with a restaurant, I will usually give them my credit card before I have seen the bill, so I can make a quick exit. Our waiter wanted to be SURE that I saw the bill, before he charged my card...wow...you really do not see this type of wait staff who care like that anywhere. Next time, I try the "fried ice cream"! The table next to us had it, and it is QUITE the experience! They use 151 Proof rum, light it, and then pepper it with ground cinnamon. It was like the 4th of July! I hear that the place will be jumping on Cinco De Mayo. (Made much more popular here in America than Mexico due to a Mexican Beer campaign.) OK, downsides: I am a neat freak, and the bathroom floors could use a mopping. (So, while not the WORST bathroom I have been in, minus one star for THAT experience.) Restaurant: A+ Bathroom: C+ (sorry, but kudos for the automatic hand towel dispenser!) P.S. To the word police: Google apparently cannot handle contractions, either which is why I didnt (did not) use them in this review. Oy Vey!

My fiance and I were just at this restaurant. The food was good. The guacamole was excellent. We also had the habanero and mango chicken wings which were quite disappointing. We received an equivelant to frozen fried wings with an overly sweet and thick sauce on the side. I had the fajita trio which was delicous and he had one of their speciality dishes which was also good. My biggest disappointment with this restaurant was the service. Our waiter never introduced himself therefore if we needed anything we had to raise our hand as though we were in a school cafeteria. Most disappointing was as we left the restaurant the host was standing right up front and never bothered to say thank you for coming or come again, in fact, he held his head down to avoid contact as we left. Let me mention my fiance and I were dressed in our workout clothes and were middle age African Americans. So maybe your service will be a better experience. Ps...we tipped them well regardless of their horrendous treatment in order to dismantle their stereotypical mentality.

We have been visiting Rancho for more than 16 months and we were very impressed with decor, food and excellant service provided by them and even had our 2007 corporate christmas party there. past 2 visits within the past 3 months have been a disaster. Food has gone down from 5 stars down to a 2 star rating drinks were a disaster, Sangria has bits of fruit that seemed to be rotten. The staff seemed to be distracted and disorganized, more interested in interacting with each other than with the Patrons. We had to wait for 10 minutes to get a glass of water without ice. Appetizers were served after the entrees. Only the kids burgers were great and fries were fantastic. The ladies in our party had to wait for 5 minutes to use the restroom which was locked and no one could to locate a key to open it Finally, we have given up. We will no longer go to Rancho unless we hear better reviews from others....

Well I waited an entire year to post my personal review. Like most reviews in my opinion are made to early not giving an opportunity for errors or corrections to service or food. To be fixed... So here it is, after one whole year .... In my opinion Rancho Grande is by far the most interesting restaurant i frequently dine in .... the customer service is 9 out 10 times outstanding... sometimes I experience a waiter who is probably tired or frustrated, which is life things are not always bliss... but overall great service with authentic Mexican food... an atmosphere to die for warm and entertaining.... almost forgot the drinks whoa!!!! Way great..... as for my opinion the best waiter there is Mr. Osvaldo..he is truly a Marvell. So end result Rancho Grande is family now thanks......for all they do.....!!!!

My brother and I were in the mood for Mexican in Westchester so we did a Google search. Although some reviews were negative we decided to try this place out. The restaurant is huge and nicely decorated. Service is good not great BUT the food quality is very poor. We ordered chimichangas beef and chicken. The chicken tasted like tuna fish - I kid you not! The beef was ok not spectacular. The rice tasted gross and boxed and beans tasted as bad as chicken or tuna. To add disappointment.. the menu was overly OVER priced. I can honestly say Taco Bell offers better tasting food.. and that is not a compliment! Food quality did not match ambience and server attention. I have never given a restaurant such a harsh review but I also have never tasted low quality over priced food.

Had my fathers in law birthday party there. We decided to bring our Dominican cake and they charged us $2 extra for each slice they give us of our own cake. We asked them to bring the cake out so we could cut it in front of him and serve. They said we cant do that what we will do is make your cake looks special. That was all a lie after everything was set and done the cake was broght to the table with a massive chunk missing. The cake feed up to 20 people and the slices they gave us was about 1inch thick they rob us for the Spanish cake. Smh we will never go there again pls b careful dont let them take nothing to there kitchen
