Ok, thats never gonna happen again. About the worst dining experience ever. Entire staff is clueless and ambivalent about service. They have NO concept of peripheral vision. When you walk through the restaurant, look around, a customer might need you! Three of us went for dinner. I tried to order the avocado and grapefruit starter salad. Nope. Avocados arent ripe. Huh? A restaurant called Plant and they cant manage to have ripe avocados which are present in multiple dishes? Ok, Ill try the roasted beet salad. Im a carnivore so I order the duck breast. Diner #2, also a carnivore, orders the chicken "because it never fails to please." Menu says white meat but the server says it is dark because they found the white meat to be dry. Great, dark meat is preferred. Diner #3 orders the Full Belly salad. Oddly, they do have an avocado for that one. 30 minutes passes. Nobody returns to the table. No bread. Nothing. Were chatting so not a big deal. I finally get a different waiters attention and ask about my starter salad. Shell check and it arrives shortly thereafter. The beet salad was actually very good. Now, the entrees start to arrive, of course before I can finish the salad. My duck breast and the Full Belly salad, but not the chicken. We wait nearly five minutes for the third entree to arrive. The Full Belly was actually good, although the avocados included were not ripe. That info was correct. The duck breast was inedible. Seriously. I think it had been frozen. It was completely overcooked and dry. The chicken was white meat and dry also but marginally edible. So, when the waitress came back to check on our meal... oh wait, we never saw her again! Finally flagged down another waitress who didnt seemed surprised and took the duck away for an appropriate burial. Asked for the manager who came over. Pretty much a deer in the headlights. Said she was sorry. No real understanding of customer service and clueless and not really trained how to deal with a problem. She didnt charge us for dinner, so she at least got that one right. There are a bunch of good dining choices around so no need to waste your meal here!

Opened up late last spring is the latest addition from the Plant Café Organic group to the Peninsula. Being an avid vegetarian enthusiast I’ve been to both the restaurant and the to-go cafe. I have to say that the interior décor of the restaurant is clean, simple, modern making you feel a bit healthier just dining there. I absolutely love sitting at their bar! I’ve tried their burgers and was not terribly impressed but they are far healthier than what you might get elsewhere on Burlingame Ave. Nonetheless, this is my pit-stop for their fresh pressed juices when I’m too lazy to juice on my own. I love their “healthy sunrise,” “immune builder” and “body cleanser” juices. Fortunately, at their to-go café they also sell delectable baked goods (cookies, cake slices, scones, brownies) where some are vegan and gluten-free.

For some reason, our food took forEVER! The wait was 20 minutes, and there was only 1 order placed immediately before ours! Another order went out before that, so you could say they had 1.5 orders to fill before ours, but our food still took far too long to come out. The entryway for the to go side is not impressive, and there wasnt even complimentary water or any place to sit while we waited. I have enjoyed lunch at other locations of the Plant Cafe before, but my experience here was sorely lacking. You could get much better food and service for a lower price at any number of other cafés. Dont waste your time with this one. ... unless you dont mind spending an hour to dine in. THAT might be worth it, I suppose.

We came for dinner. The food was very good but the overall experience was diminished because of how long everything took and because they were out of a few things. I tried to order a glass of Malbec and the did not have it, so I had to order a glass of wine that was $2 more. Also, we were left standing at the door for a few minutes before anyone came to greet us. There was no sign at the door about seating ourselves, so we stood there unsure of what to do. Like I said though, the food was great. I had the Full Belly salad and it was delicious, my husband had the chicken and also thought it was great. Just wish our service experience had rounded off the great food.

I have eaten here several times and have always had friendly, attentive service. The food is consistently fresh and beautifully prepared, but the best part is that it is organic food and filtered water! The fresh juices are a bonus. The soups are spicy, the desserts small but tasty, and the variety of menu options is good. This is the only restaurant I know of that serves organic food: free of pesticides, gmos, and all the other disease-engendering substances that conventional agriculture uses to lengthen shelf-life. Think about not only how tasty the food is but whether it is contributing to your health. Happily, the Plant Cafe provides both.

Some things are very good, other things are a disappointment. Wish the menu were more consistently solid and consistently executed. Have had the experience of ordering a dish where what was described on the menu was not what was delivered on the plate. Thats an example of the consistency challenges they face. All that said, the vegan cheesecake with raspberry sauce that they serve on the dessert menu is ridiculously good. You could never imagine that its made with raw cashews!

I would like to give The Plant 5 stars since they have vegetarian and vegan options, but they usually dont live up to my expectation. The Plant Burger is pretty good, but too mushy. The Basil Pesto Tofu Scramble isnt really a scramble (just cubes of tofu in sauce) and its a little bland. They do offer vegan sausage, and we even got it as a pizza topping before (that was yummy), but they dont always have pizza on the menu.

Gluten free and delicious. There is a restaurant in front and a take-out quick order counter around the corner. We didnt realize there was a restaurant until after we had ordered. Even so, everyone in our party really enjoyed the food. Great flavors and hearty. I had a poached egg with a sautéed spinach, rice and mushroom dish. Delish! Added this one to my favorites.

Ganz ok, aber nichts besonderes. Service etwas langsam, Portionen für amerikanische Verhältnisse überschaubar. Dafür ist diese Ecke von Burlingame einfach bezaubernd.

We went there for drinks. Its a very nice place, the atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is generally pleasant, but we ended up waiting more than 30 minutes because they couldnt find the bottle of Cachaca for my Caipirinha. However they were very apologetic, and the manager ended up covering our tab, after explaining what happened. Weird...

As someone who is very health conscious, I love the food and menu at Plant. Tasty and fresh, and the vegetable juice especially was amazing with no added sugar. However, my colleagues found the food a tad bland. We went there for lunch on a weekday and the service was very slow. We had to wait a long time after our appetizers came.

The Plant is a proper organic restaurant with healthy options for carnivores and vegans to dine together in perfect harmony. The ambiance is dimly lit and romantic, great for a mellow night. Highly recommend the wasabi plant burger and all their vegan desserts- so surprisingly delicious- keeps me coming back for more!
