Another hidden spot in Berkeley. People who work nearby seem to know their stuff though - take out available. Service is super friendly. I love eating at a place where all the workers look happy to be working there. I had the pork chop lunch plate with potatoes and veggies. The pork chop was soft and succulent, perfectly cooked. I think I ate it to the bone. Dont judge me. The veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, zucchini?) are lightly seasoned in a way that brings out the deep flavors of each vegetable. Theres a dollop of sour cream on top of the red-skinned potatoes. Big John had a Southwest Chicken Salad (chicken, lettuce, peppers onion, jicama, and chili lime dressing) because he was intrigued by te jicama. I can only say it looked bommbbbb

Reasons why I dig Tomate Cafe: 1) Best freshly squeezed orange juice ever. They dont add sugar, but somehow its always the sweetest glass of OJ Ive drunk. 2) Forager Plate (daily) and Cuban brunch (weekend only): The Forager is pretty healthy (black beans, sweet potato or steamed greens and rice with choice of poached egg). The Cuban has plaintains. Yum! 3) Dog friendly It can get crowded but youll usually find a spot.

Lovely little cafe within a 10 minute stroll from the La Quinta Inn where I was staying at. Booths and high chairs available for small children. Super cute and super hip place to eat with fresh, whole fare. Eating here Fri, Sat, Sun is a must for their applewood bacon eggs benedict. The date shake, available every day, is one of the most delicious things on this planet.

This order-at-the-counter breakfast, lunch and brunch destination has an extensive menu that has something for everyone (including picky kids and vegetarian spouse). Theres indoor and outdoor seating. The quality seems consistant from visit to visit (from year to year). And we love their date shake. I only wish the employees would act like they enjoy being there.

Hidden in the industrial section of West Berkeley, this little cafe has some amazing sandwiches as well as hearty, flavorful salads and breakfast dishes. The large menu helps to make sure the food never gets monotonous. Their pulled pork sandwich is easily the best Ive ever had; its a daily special thats not on the menu.

I have only eaten here one time, but it was a good experience. Quick service of a tasty burrito! I love the colorful interior and I believe you can sit outside on a nice day as well. The food was more homestyle and I really appreciated that. Super tasty burrito and the tortilla it was wrapped in was great.

There was a small jazz band that welcomed us at the outdoor patio where we decided to sit. The coffee is strong like I prefer. My party of 4 tried the jump start, bagel with lox, french toast, and mimosas. All of it, amazing. Wished I found out about this place earlier in our trip!

Good menu, solid food, dog-friendly patio. The food was quite good, but nothing spectacular. If you come here wanting really good food youll be pleased. If you want trendy life changing fare, this isnt it. The coffee could be better. Definitely worth a visit for casual brunch!

Very mediocre cafe with steep prices. Paid over $15 for 2 eggs, 2 flavorless pancakes with a little bit of fruit, and 2 small and very fatty pieces of bacon. Theres better cheaper options around, so Im very confused by the high ratings.

The ambiance was great, but the food was mediocre. I had the Harvest Plate. The fresh squeezed OJ was not particularly fresh, the toast was overdone, and the kale was just a big tasteless clump. I expected better.

We had lunch and brought two dogs and sat outside. Great food and lovely atmosphere quick and efficient. Also off street so feels very tranquil. We had egg dishes which were delicious and will definitely return.

Doesnt look like much but outside seating and quality food make this a hideaway. Its not far from a Sake Brewery and Tasting Room. I just havent had a bad salad there and the food quality is just awesome.
