Dust off the elastic pants, because its a golden opportunity for buffet time! BOGO buffet for Good As Gold members during their birthday month Ive heard murmurs of a certain buffet being the "Best Buffet in America". Family living in Arizona would proclaim their love for a golden-hued AYCE. When I heard a Golden Corral would be opening nearby in ghetto Bellflower, I knew the moment had arrived when Id lay carnage on Golden Corrals offerings. Leaving home around 6:30pm on a Tuesday, I expected the worse as it pertains to the line. I had my boonie hat, my sunglasses..................I was ready! Huh? Theres no line? Score! Entering, diners gather their drinks (refills are done by your attendant) and pay at one of the two registers. After that, staff seats you & the gluttony commences! Various themed buffet islands have items pertaining to each particular theme. Heres what I enjoyed the most- Popcorn shrimp & fried okra- Not a fan of breaded shrimp, preferring scampi and/or shrimp cocktail, the popcorn shrimp became more palatable when dipped in cocktail sauce. The fried okra was delicious! My go to side when I patronize Churchs Chicken, I had half a plate of okra all to myself. Chicken fajitas- Whooo! I underestimated the heat from the grilled chili peppers. The chicken was seasoned well, while the onions & bell peppers had a crispy, crunchy texture. Fried chicken livers- Fried little nuggets that tasted like mud - I like it! Im a liver fan. I dunno, its the irony, mineral-y taste which I adore. These were fried just right & I had quite a few of these during my visit. Grilled to order sirloin steak- The highlight of Golden Corrals dinner, the fresh, never frozen sirloin steak is cooked to customers preference. I had 3 helpings, the first 2 being medium rare. While I had some parts cooked perfectly medium rare, other parts were unappetizingly well done. My last helping was rare, and it reminded me of tuna. Much better! Id recommend asking for rare, but only if you like pink. Room for dessert? For most people, the star of Golden Corrals dessert buffet is the chocolate fountain, which I avoided at all costs. Why? I saw many a kid grab the fondue items (marshmallows, fruit, rice krispies etc.) with their dirty, disgusting, filthy little mitts, foregoing the wooden sticks they were supposed to grab, and then dunking their personal petri dishes of bacteria into the flowing chocolate. I dont know if the fountain was brown from chocolate, or from the fecal matter. However, there were winners in GCs dessert buffet Cookies n cream ice cream- Soft serve is de rigeur for buffets, but real ice cream is not! During my visit, tubs of rainbow sherbet, butter pecan, strawberry & the aforementioned cookies n cream were on hand. Just ask one of the bake staff to scoop up whichever flavor your heart desires. While youre at it, ask them to whip up some cotton candy for you, too. Fudge- While the 24 Karat carrot cake was an honorable mention, the highlight for me was the GCs fudge. Rich, decadent & insanely good. I dont partake much of fudge, even during the holidays, so when I get the chance, I make the most of it. I am proud of restraining myself to only 2 helpings. Honestly, I couldve finished the whole serving plate. Service was good. Our attendant cleared our empty plates and refilled my water in a timely manner. Periodically, one of the staff will announce on the PA system for parents to accompany their kids at the buffet. To be frank, some of the parents are worse than their kids, with their cutting & hoarding of food. Parking is in private lot. Golden Corral is directly south of the 91 freeway, on the left of Chris & Pitts My first visit to the Corral & I enjoyed it. BOGO buffet is a tremendous deal, considering all the food I have at my disposal. When I have another BOGO coupon appear in my inbox, Im definitely making sure I come back. Hopefully with no line. Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

One of two Golden Corrals within about 20 miles of the Long Beach/Southbay area. I believe the other one is in Downey. Came in for dinner on a Friday, four adults, the total(with drinks) came out to $75(+$10 tip for our waitress). Surprisingly, we didnt have to wait. There was only one party ahead of us. Usually, there is a 15/20min wait, according to my cousins, who dined with me, it was my first time. The selection was absolutely immense. Seafood, sides, soups, meats. As well, your average salad bar. All your typical great American entrees. Plus, there is a huge dessert selection. Pies, cookies, ice cream. I really enjoyed their meat selection, there was prime rib and various steak cuts[cooked/sliced to your liking(medium-rare, rare, etc)]. The food was enjoyable, a bit salty but Americans dont have a sodium problem. The drawbacks are the seating (it can be a bit cramped) and the lines for the food, might have to wait a few extra minutes to get your servings. Would definitely come again, the value is great for the amount of food you can get.

If I could I would have left no stars. Did not like anything about this place. Only one cashier working at the height of lunch time. Sweet potato casserole way to much cinnamon, to the point you can not eat it. Orange chicken horrible, chicken is so dry nothing helps. Service really leaves something to be desired. Employees are not very friendly or sociable. Took the waiter 20 minutes to come back and ask about refills for the drinks. Silverware looks like it came from the thrift store and not washed. Clean dishes not monitored, they send dirty plates back out to be used again. Need to have management to actually oversee what is being done and to do product inspection and taste of all food when it leaves the kitchen. Workers should treat patrons with at least some level of politeness. Not have a bitchy attitude. Managers have no need to lie, when a customer comes up to complain do not play it off. They need to have a lot of improvement if I ever decide to come back.

The food was good. However right into our meal some "off the clock" employees come in making a rukus and disrupts the entire dining room to sing happy birthday to one of their co-workers and start handing out cupcakes to all of their "on the clock" employees, all while their management is standing there doing nothing but watching. For this reason I will not return to this location. Customers are always first no matter what kind of establishment u shop at, or eat at, etc. The management at this location has very poor judgment and did not take their patrons into consideration when their employees were making a scene. Also we had 2 servers.. the first one karen did not smile or even pick up our plates when we needed room on our table.. only checked.on us once in 20 mins that she was there.. our second server I dont remember her name.however was very kind and inviting.. short young African american girl.
