Weve eaten their twice (would have tried more, but the parking in Old Town is wretched - even as a resident). The first time we ate there a couple months ago the food was superb (Bourbon soaked skirt steak and Gulf prawn linguini) and the service was great (sat on the right/larger restaurant side). The second time we ate there (this past weekend), the Shepherds Pie was fabulous, but the Kobe Brewmaster Burger was awful. The patty was completely dried out, not "smothered in Oldtown BBQ sauce" nor served with bleu cheese dressing as stated in the menu. Fries were cold and over-fried. The service was awful (we were seated in the front on the bar side). A different server brought our food out, mixed up our orders and no one ever came back to refill our sodas/ice tea or check on us. We had to flag our server down and practically beg for our check. The last straw was the copious amount of perfume that our server was wearing. Thats the last thing I want to smell when Im trying to eat. Yuck.

What an incredibly unfunny joke this place is. A beautiful establishment in a perfect part of town, unfortunately married to the makings of an awful restaurant. Our server was rude, crass and very pretentious. I realize this only mirrors our one server, but I spoke to many others surrounding my evening and they had similar things to say about their wait staff. The food was mediocre. Like, can you get your "shiit"ake mushrooms together and serve tasty food? The wait was astronomical even for water refills and the place wasnt very busy. Furthermore, we asked for the beer taster and they didnt alter the price of the sampler even though they were SHORT on 5 of 10 beers. That would be a half price type of thing in my book. Such a bummer; waited a long time to try this place.

When picking a place to eat this is always on the top of our list. The staff is most helpful and knowledgable. Of course you are going to pay more for a beer, they are microbrews. If you go to a brew pub like this you should appreciate that the beer is made right where you sit practically and that will cost a little bit more. I love the selection they have on their menu, far from normal pub grub. Anytime that I have not been completely satisfied with the food brought out the staff has been quick to fix it. Great atmosphere and fun place to hang out. Yeah, maybe its a little loud... but that just adds to the experience (and makes it great for younger kids).

Came from San Diego to visit my family. Decided to take the trip to auburn to visit the Ale House. Inside was nice, reminds me a lot of BJs brewhouse. The wait was 25min, which was acceptable for a Sunday, but the food was lackluster, as was the beer. Kobe beef burger was greasy, fries cold, and my pizza was not put in the oven, so my food arrived once everyone was done. It was ok though, because they had forgot my drink as well. Manager apologized, but made no offer for reconciliation. I have never heard a server apologize so many times to EVERY single table within earshot. Try somewhere else....

We had dinner at the Ale House tonight. Their fish special for the night was yellow tail. I dont know what I was thinking, but I wasnt. I have never had ahi (tuna) at a non sushi place that had decent tuna. So, I wasnt thinking, they said yellow tail so I said okay... It was wonderful, Im soooo glad I screwed up and ordered it.... our server (Jen) who was new was awesome. Im still in a state of shock!!! I was here several years ago and it wasnt like it is today. It is AWESOME!!! So for a wonderful experience, have a meal here and you should have a WONDERFUL TIME!!!!!

I am grouchy, hungry, and STILL DONT HAVE A BEER. I was really looking forward to trying this brewery and we have been waiting an hour for a table we called in about an hour and 20min ago. They then tried to seat us outside and directly in front of a band playing so loud you cant hear the person next to you. I wish I had the last hour and a half of my life back. For a brewery that hasnt won anything in the last year. This is a pass. I am completely disgusted with the level of service we received. Nobody likes being delegated to a second class diner.

Super friendly staff, lots of seating. I ordered the fried chicken. It came with tasty mashed potatoes and broccoli. Broccoli was really good not just weird steamed mushy stuff. Actually really good. But the chicken...meh... It was chicken breasts boneless and fried, which I love but whatever the chicken was marinaded in was so sweet that it it was in edible. I really hoped this place wouldve been better. The cob salad, we ordered a large to share and everyone have it mixed reviews. The Mac and cheese, just lacked any taste unfortunately.

Just got back from a brewery trip to Sacramento and started things off with a lunch with friends here at Auburn Ale House. It was crowded at the time (Saturday around 12:30) and they were in the process of setting up for some kind of luau out in the street which looked like it was going to be a blast. Anyway, our group of 8 or so got a table and ordered a starter and some drinks. The cheesy bread is AMAZING! I got a black & blue burger and one of their Gold Digger IPAs. Everything was very tasty and service was great.

We visited the Auburn Ale House in November of 2008. The beer was ok, not stellar by any stretch of the imagination. Our server, was a bit rude and charged us $2.50 for a 6 oz glass of milk for each of my sons. The overall cost of both boys milks was $5? I could have bought a jug of organic milk for that price. When I asked our server about it, she informed me that that was the only milk they had in the computer. Needless to say we were unimpressed overall.

Really nothing special and wasnt worth the drive out to Auburn. We arrived and it was an hour wait time. Since we were already drove there for this place we waited. While we waited we went to the cute little restaurant ont he corner for beers. I was more satisfied and impressed with that location than the Alehouse. The beer and food were nothing special. Once we sat down we couldnt even have a conversation together it was just too loud inside. Wasnt a fan.

Hanging a confederate flag!!??!!?? Really? To me, this simply shows an unwelcoming and closed minded atmosphere. As I was searching for a great bar and grill to go to tonight with my friend (who is African American), I was drawn to the beauty and ambiance of this brewery, yet seeing the confederate flag saddens me deeply. My vote is cast strongly to remove the flag and be more open and welcoming to people from all walks of life. Thank you.

We went to the Auburn Ale House restaurant on Jan. 1, 2011 for dinner thinking that for the menu prices that the food would be flavorful & satisfying! Sadly, it was neither! Most of us had the tri-tip, which lacked sufficient seasoning & also lacked a large enough portion to feed a 16 yr. old boy! For the $15-$20 per plate that we were charged to feed our family, our visit was VERY disappointing!
