A 1940s BAR IN THE 21ST CENTURY. AND IN ALBANY CA!! Yes.. Bison/Buffalo/Deer/Elk heads on the wall. A fireplace with comfortable chairs. $4-5 martinis (yes that is not a typo) in 2010, and similarly price wide range of beers and wines. But, you may ask, where is the picture of the dogs playing poker? A bamboo landscaped smokers patio in the back. (remember this is not Berkeley). Billiards and more. Opened in 1945 it has not changed but has been magnificently maintained. No food but you can bring your own or get nearby fast food. One of the great classic historic bars of the East Bay. Good for people of all ages, for conversation, listening to he music or getting your photo taken in the fully operational photo booth. Clean restrooms, and probably much more. Dont know whether to keep this a secret or tell everyone we know..

Ive been here a couple of times and its great. Mostly because of the atmosphere - they have an upstairs and downstairs as well as outside patios for people who smoke. The bartenders sometimes get flooded but, they are usually pretty fast despite. Also, a lot of people will just talk to you. I am a little more to SF types that are more standoffish but, it was a refreshing experience to just talk to someone while waiting for service. Also, the drinks are good and strong!

My favorite El Cerrito bar. The crowd has changed within the last 5 years, but maybe thats because Im getting older. Love the outdoor patios on both the 1st and 2nd floor. I also like how the bar feels different depending on what part your in. Downstairs its like a hunting lodge, outside like a beach bar, upstairs is brighter and quieter, upstairs outside is for smokers. Chill place.

You gotta love this pub...it has a great selection of beer and a nice patio with heaters if its chilly outside. They have great themed nights, like totally 80s or Halloween. Dress up, come down, have some beers, and dance the night away! Also, if you want to play some billiards, head upstairs for some great fun on the table! Hustle em if you have to!

Environment was pretty much good cozy place for hang out with big space ..well I hate the bar system one of their women bar tender said it is complsery to tip them in every drink a $6 each card used. I was shocked I went to a lot of bar and got drunk and I never heart of such Thing ...this is so un professional

Im from Vallejo and this place gets me off my lazy ass and make the trip over the bridge. Really cool bartenders and relaxed vibe. I prefer the tiki balcony upstairs. Take a group of 5 here during the week and you wont be disappointed. Weekends get too crowded for my taste.

Really cool East Bay bar north of Berkeley in El Cerrito. Fun atmosphere in a log cabin decor. Pool Tables, Fun Music, Chill Bartenders, Cool Outdoors and even an upstairs level. Fun place to hang out with a group of friends without having to pay San Francisco drink prices.

Generally fun bar with fair selection and good cocktails. Service can be iffy, though generally solid. Good games. Crowd is quite mixed and can be awesome or douchy depending on the night, but its usually just your average mixed bag.

Didnt seem like a place I would enter from the outside, but as soon as I stepped in I was amazed. Has a very cabinee feel downstairs outside has a tiki vibe and upstairs pool tables. Its a great place to hang out with some friends.

I love the bartenders here. Club Mallard has the same owner as Thalassa and Kona. Super chill atmosphere here with two levels. The upstairs seems more open but kinda homey at the same time. Whattup~!!
