Kazoku sushi is one of the absolute best sushi establishments in Tucson. There is absolutely nothing fancy about this place, and the prices are fair for service that is usually excellent and delicious food. The decor in Kazoku sushi is simple. It carries a definite Japanese theme, as it should, but it feels closer to a home then any type of restaurant; which really works to convey the "family" feel. There are usually two TVs playing CNN or ESPN, and everything feels perfectly quaint. The service is primarily provided by who I only assume to be the Mother and occasionally some bus boys when it gets busy. Ive rarely had any problem with the service, and always felt the free edemame and miso soup, coupled with bean ice cream at the end of the meal was absolutely amazing. Nothing but exemplary performance, though we usually went when it was dead around 5pm. The food is fantastic. Nothing could feel or taste more authentic, every roll it seems the chefs will put just a little spin on; so no two meals are ever the same, even if your order is the same. The chefs will talk to you about what theyve done, why theyve done it if you sit at the bar, and theyll be sure to check you enjoy what theyve prepared. Prices are always reasonable, and I have yet to have better Sushi in Tucson. All told, Kazoku is a must, a the premier favorite for sushi in Tucson in my mind. The host eventually started to learn us, and would always open the menu to the "special" rolls when I showed up. It really feels like youre having sushi made for you at your in-laws, who just happen to be Japanese, and who created delicious food and take care of you.

Food was great, service was horrible! Prices were standard. The wait for 4x rolls for 2 people was nearly an hour and half... Also three different people asked us for our drinks, which was odd... They also messed up our wine orders both times. She ordered a white wine, I ordered a red cab and they gave us pink (moscato it tasted like) and a white the first round. Second round we ordered the exact same thing and they gave us the red cab this time but the pink moscato again... Lastly we went dutch on the bill and they tried to charge her full price and me half price.. the bill was about $60, but they tried to charge us $90.. Actually they tried to give us ice cream afterwards and said it came with the meal. We both thought that was very unusual and odd so we didnt accept. In retrospect maybe they were trying to give us ice cream for the long wait, but they didnt specify that. They just said it was included with the meal. Other then that terrible service the food was awesome. The staff was friendly, just very unorganized.

By far the best sushi experience I have ever had! The service was fast and friendly. The waitress was very attentive and didnt rush us or make us wait for the check. I tried two rolls I had never had and a roll that I he rolls were very authentic and had the traditional hand rolled look and style. All the employees went out of their way to make sure their dinners were having an exceptional dinner. The atmosphere was very calm and the decorations and music were perfect. After leaving this place my friend and I couldnt stop talking about what an wonderful experience we had and it will be our new regular sushi restaurant. We also went on a saturday night around 8:30 and had the place to ourselves. The prices are also very reasonable and we were treated with complementary ice cream. And the miso soup wasnt bland or watery like it can be at other places. I cannot stop raving about this restaurant.

The character and service were authentic and genuine and they have a lot of different menu items. The nigiri was plump & not stringy & we also received edamame & miso soup as part of the meal. This was the highest recommended sushi restaurant within 5 miles of our location & Im glad I now know why. A local co-worker actually recommended another sushi place so we went there 1st, even though it was farther from us. After a 5 minute menu review of mainly fried rollls & immitation crab as menu staples, we left & came here. Best decision on this trip! I will recommend this place to everyone.

Average at best. Best thing I can say is- fish wasnt ice cold, but it was tasteless and rice had too much vinegar overpowering any flavor the fish could have had. Futomaki roll was strange- traditionally its made with Japanese veg, egg or maybe falacial Krab- this had Benito flakes, roe eggs, Krab, eel and very little veg. It was also small. Service was passable, restaurant was clean, and sushi chef friendly. If I had to have sushi and they were the only place open is go back, otherwise it feels like they are "going through the motions".

The fish was fresh and the atmosphere was nice, however, it had pretty slow service. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was surprisingly pretty busy for a Tuesday. There was only one waitress serving all the tables. We even saw a couple come in, wait a long time, and then left unhappy/unsatisfied. The decor was pretty nice though and we thoroughly enjoyed eating the sushi. It was also nice that they gave us complimentary Edamame beans and red bean ice cream. Wed go there again but hopefully there wont be only one waitress/waiter serving.

We were visiting Tucson and we searched for the top rated Sushi restaurant in Tucson. Kazoku was at the top of the list and for good reason. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. Salad was fresh and crisp, miso soup was great, Sushi was fresh and had a great mix of extras that I dont see most other sushi places use. The rolls are on the smaller side but I appreciate not having to unhinge my jaw to fit a piece of sushi into it. Nice surprise at the end of the meal as well. The next time I am in Tucson, I will be going back.

I went to Kazoku with my two brothers today, and we all enjoyed the experience. The restaurant was not very busy, despite it being lunch hour. We got our appetizers relatively quickly (gyoza) and the sushi platters came not long after. The food was great - we didnt leave a single roll! The waitress forgot to bring our side of kimchi, but we didnt mind because we were already so full. We did, however, each get some complimentary red bean ice cream, which was yummy. Overall, highly recommended!

This was a great find. I went solely off the reviews and was not disappointed. The nigori sake was great, and every piece of nigiri and all the rolls we picked were fantastic. Small complaint in that the server momentarily forgot about us and we didnt have any plates or chopsticks after the food was brought out (and it wasnt busy, only two other tables besides our table of 3). But honestly the food was so great I couldnt give it less than 5 even with that small hiccup.

If you want sushi with pubic hair and they still want you to pay for it, this is the place to go. They are even nice enough to offer you a doggy bag. Thanks, but no thanks. Im not paying for something that I ended up throwing up after seeing that scraggly piece of hair in my food. No apology, nothing to rectify the issue. I went here because of the ratings...so disgusted. 0 stars if it existed.
