I agree in parts with cosmicfish_42. The atmosphere was a polished lunch counter with the price of an upscale dinner. But in Las Cruces getting fresh fish is not a cheap thing, so I was okay with the costs. The Miso soup was very bland. Three of us arrived at 7:02pm and were seated promptly, as the place was less than half full. Our fourth person arrived at 7:06pm. At 7:13pm the waitress came to ask for our order (not drinks, but food). We didnt even have menus yet. After ordering our drinks, the waitress came by about 7:30pm to take our food order. We still didnt receive our drinks before we ordered our meal. At 7:49pm the waitress came back to confirm one of our orders. About 7:54pm we got Miso soup. At 8:05pm a table who was seated after us received their bill and were paying their check. At 8:24pm another waitress asked us about our order. I told her "In 6 minutes I am leaving." Less than a minute later we had one meal on our table. We asked about the other meals, and she found one, and told us the manager will be right out to talk to us. At 8:28pm the manager came out to talk to us. He apologized for everything, and asked us to try them again soon. I told him maybe in a couple months when the staff is better trained. We paid for our drinks and left. It was an unfortunate experience, and I may change my rating after I go back in a few months. I might say that our table got some bad luck, but I saw (and talked to) 2 other tables that left without food. They also had the same server. I hope this place either gets better servers or trains them better in the future.

DO NOT EAT HERE! My partner and I both were sick from the terrible food. The "sushi" chef behind the "floating sushi bar" did not use gloves when handling the fish. The whole place reeked of fish. The tempura was not completely fried and had raw batter oozing from the inside. I had a California roll, usually a safe bet, and I was sick almost immediately. My partner had a salmon and eel roll with cream cheese. Both rolls were falling apart and were poorly made. We had to go to the Urgent Care, my partners food poisoning is so bad. We only tried it because of a recommendation from a close friend, but I had heard that they had a poor reputation. I regret my decision to even walk into the foul smelling building. The service was poor. It seemed like the people from the kitchen were acting as servers as well. When we pointed out the errors with our meal, the server was apathetic. Our "server" wore a hairnet and apron the whole time and was often unavailable when we needed her. The ambiance was not enjoyable. The dining room music was drowned out by the loud mariachi music being played on a boombox from the kitchen. We didnt want to eat outside on the patio because the chairs and tables were dirty. Terrible food. Terrible service. Terrible ambiance. Do not go here unless you want to spend the next 24 hours over a toilet bowl and eventually in the hospital.

The atmosphere was that of a polished lunch counter but with the prices of an upscale dinner place. After clumsily taking our drink order, the crew promptly forgot about us for 20 minutes before taking our food order. I like to order Miso soup at a new sushi place as an indicator of whats to come (kind of like sweet and sour soup at a Chinese place).... if the miso is bad, more than likely the food wont be any better. The miso was flavorless. Bad sign. Next, came a poorly constructed Spicy Tuna Roll, the rice was badly packed and the tuna was lazily chopped. I dont have very high expectations for food that isnt sushi at a sushi restaurant... so it was no big surpirse that the panko-breaded chicken was tasteless and slow to be brought to the table. I hope that we just experienced new-restaurant kinks and a bad combination of circumstances. Maybe this palce could get better... but it will take a lot of convincing for me to try this place again. Id rather eat leftovers and save my money.

Had a terrible experience here on a Sunday night. It was our first time in, and hoping for at least decent sushi based on the strangely good reviews. Very very disappointing, one terrible server who obviously did not care if anybody was enjoying their food, and had to track him down to pay our bill. So the sushi is definitely pre-made, possibly FROZEN, and definitely of the lowest quality possible. Basically what you would expect from a gas station and no better. Thankful we do not have food poisoning! Never again will we try sushi in Las Cruces, obviously it is too far from the ocean. I cant imagine why anybody would like this place, unless they have never eaten real sushi. Avoid at all costs!

We stopped by, since I was CRAVING sushi. Im very 50/50 about this place. There was no lunch special, nor were we offered a special of day or asked if wed been there b4. This being our 1st time... (Ive been thru many types of sushi bars and this one didnt cut it for me.) The menus need a revamp.... BIG time! Most sushi listed had cream cheese. Dont get me wrong, I love the stuff! BUT not a great filler 4 even a low $ Japanese cuisine! I liked the service, although I went on a slow day. It seemed clean, at first. But the floating boat water was a Lil dirty and it really needs a bit of TLC. SADLY, Ive been spoiled by AYCE establishments....

My boyfriend and I shared a carry out of tofu teriyaki, vegetarian rolls, and seaweed salad, none of which was very good. Exactly eight hours later symptoms of food poisoning began for both of us. In my 10 years of being vegetarian this is the first time I have gotten food poisoning. My poor boyfriend was on a flight when it happened, he threw up all night, and Im still in bed. Dont go there. If were getting sick off of vegetarian food, one can only imagine what could happen with the sushi. Nasty.

Worst service on multiple occasions. Most recently we sat for over 20 mins and had to ask for menus. Waited for over 40 mins without anyone checking on us come to find out they hadnt even started our oder. All they told us was that they were busy! Too busy to refill our drinks or to tell us that they were backed up. The staff at this restaurant has never been great but if you dont mind rude staff and getting the wrong oder all the time the sushi is okay. We will not be going back.

Food is really good for the price and comes out quickly. Wait staff is always friendly and efficient. What I like about this restaurant is that you can get sushi and other food items and it does not have to be at an extraordinary price. Usually when you go out for sushi its an occasional treat, but here you can get good food and a very reasonable price and while the atmosphere is "cool" its not a pretentious atmosphere. I really like the salads they have with the rice noodles too.
