GREAT Mexican food. I have been searching for great Mexican food in this area for a while. I tried Top Shelf but was sadly disappointed. The Margaritas were good but the food was "New Mexican" which is just not the same as authentic Mexican food. I have grown up with Mexican food all my life and wanted something that reminded me of home. My boyfriend saw this place out of the corner of his eye. It is a small place which is kind of hidden but well worth the search. We tried it and it was awesome. Its a little dingy on the inside but the food and people there make up 10 fold. I will definitely come back. The cheese enchiladas are great! I think the other complaint I have besides the atmosphere are the hours. I couldnt find when they are open on their website. This would be a great help. I tried to get food on a Sunday night but they werent open.

This hands down the most consistent food quality. Friends and I have ordered everything and all are great to enjoy. Fundido sauce are great to add on the food. I love their sauces especially mixing them up and habanero sauce whenever available. Go in any day of the week, any time, and food are served in great quality. All cook are consistent in making the food. Friendly service. Top Shelf cant compare to Caminero on food scale. Portion are large enough that most people will be full halfway through or so. Fruit juice drink of the day is a must have! Everything is fresh. You could request to wash your hands and worker will show you where. Go to Albertson nearby for restroom. This is one place where I dont care how much it cost even though they are reasonable or similar to TypicalName-Bertos. They take debit card or cash.

I love this little gem, it is the best place in the area for fantastic Mexican food (Id know since Ive been to every place in the area looking). The place is really small with no drive through and it is next to Subway on the side of Albertsons on 83rd Avenue & Deer Valley. There are about 10 tables and a salsa bar. The food is what this place is about, I have now had beef enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, bean burrito and my wife has had the tacos and breakfast burrito. So far the food is addictive, the enchilada sauce is so flavorful and authentic and the beans are awesome. The flour tortillas are not homemade but they dont smell like preservatives either. Everything seems to check out at this place and its even across the street from Top Shelf (worst Mexican but great for drinks). I recommend you check these guys out soon.

I have been going to this restaurant since they first opened up. Its a small place about 6, 4 seater booths and about 2 tables will seat about 10 people if you push the tables together. The food is good. Breakfast burritos Are exceptional. You wont get free chips here. They charge you and they just increased the price an additional $1.00. I never get them so not sure how much they were to begin with, I Just read the notice today on my visit this morning. Worth your visit for a quick meal.

Food was good, small place... Like a cafe. What takes away from this place is greed. $1 if you want a small boat of chips, otherwise you get nothing. They have a small salsa bar, but charged for lids for the containers. Ill not go back... Chips and lids should be free. They charge enough on the food that these items could easily part of the experience... At no extra charge. Badly run business, in my opinion.

We love Caminero Mexican Restaurant. Weve eaten there as much as 3 times a week when we were living near the Glendale-Peoria boarder. Weve moved south-west of Peoria so, we dont get there as much now but, whenever we are up in that area we eat there. Best fish tacos which, weve even had dairy-free... wonderful. Light but, filling with wonderful taste. Very happy. Already planning our next trip up.

We believed their food was amazing, and it is but the way we were treated this morning was amazingly wrong and that says a lot about an establishment In its entirety. We called in our order and it was simple and clear. But the non-speaking eglish man swore I ordered something else and got very rude. Instead of apologizing and offering to correct it, or could have just remained silent

I have lived in this area for several years and drive by this place all the time and have never tried Camineros. Finally gave it a chance and WOW. A diamond in the ruff authentic Mexican Food. I got a Baja burrito with Red Chile and it was amazing. Blows Top Shelf out of the water. Top shelf is garbage compared to this place. This place is my new go to for Mexican food!! Enjoy!!!!

I dont believe these other voters are associated with the families of this business, but I dont understand their high reviews either. Ive been trying this place for over a decade. I try, I dont like, I wait a year or two and try again; still dont like. The cook looks dirty, the customer facing employee not friendly, the food banal. I just dont get the alleged appeal.

You know that feeling when you are expecting to eat but you dont get too until you are sick... Absolutely horrible service. Been here for an hour waiting for mini tacos. Seen 20-30 people walk in and out ftom phone orders, while those in person who order in person are on the backburner and are ignored. If you want to be a takeout, do JUST THAT! You Suck! Never again!

Best red chile burritos around. Great fresh salsa. Dont waste your time across the street at Top Shelf, this place has REAL Mexican food. Its too bad they dont have beer and margaritas though. I always call my huge orders in ahead of time and its never longer than ten minutes and its ready! I hope this place is here forever, I swear I could eat there everyday.

This place is GOOD. Red chili is good stuff, rice and beans are on point. Enchilada sauce is unique. Not bad, actually quite good but different. All in All I definately have a new mexican food fav and will be back for more. Best part is that Top Shelf is right across the road and the dummies eating there dont know what they are missing!

If you live in North Peoria, you probably agree with me that the food options in the area are anemic. Caminero is the 1st real Mexican food restaraunt around and will not disappoint. If you are a little squeamish on eating at places that dont look as nice as Applebees on the inside, try ordering out.

5 stars for the food & friendly staff. Seriously, the shrimp cocktail & the fajita chicken taco was excellent. Dont expect anything fancy just tasty, fresh food. One other in my party had the red chili burrito which he said was delicious. Needed a little Pico de Gallo for the rice and beans.

Better than you might expect looking from the outside - and not a lot of seating inside. But the food is actually Mexican - which is more than I can say for many of the other local Tex-Mex and Mexicali food joints nearby. Good food, good service and good options at the homemade salsa bar.
