Wow! I guess that Im spoiled by L & L Hawaiian BBQ or maybe there was just no pride taken in my meal that I paid over $10.00 for. But I have never been so dissapointed ordering Hawaiian food ever. I ordered the 2 meat combo with 1 teryaki beef and 1 chicken katsu. As well as 1 spam musubi. Lets start off with the spam musubi. $3.00 for 1! The menu didnt say how many was to be included but coming from working and patronizing L & L Hawaiian BBQ I automatically assumed that it would be 2...especially for $3.00. But getting past the price the spam wasnt fried (which it usually is to bring out the flavor and slightly carmelize the meat) it was simply sliced and wrapped in what seemed to be regular white rice instead of jasmine or sticky rice. Anytime Ive ever had spam musubi in the past the rice has always had a very distinct smell inducative of sticky/jasmine rice. When I picked the musubi up and took a bite all of the rice started to fall out. #Dissapointed. Moving on to the macaroni salad it was flavorless and the portion was extremely small. It was also watery, and not thick. Again something that Im used to having when ordering macaroni salad from a Hawaiian cuisine establishment. The chicken katsu on its own was good but its sauce was very "Americanized" in that it was yellow instead of brown. It tasted like it just had ketchup, mayo, mustard and pepper. It wasnt very good. And finally the beef was extremely dry. It tasted like warm beef jerky with teryaki sauce poured over it. The meat was very tough and not tender which it shouldve been. Being as though it was so dry it seems like the food preparer either missed the marinating part or didnt bother to marinate it for longer than 10 minutes or so. If youre going to serve Hawaiian food then more pride should be taken in its preparation., and presentation.

My friend ordered an Ohana, they said they did not have any mahi mahi which is one of the three items included aside from the teriyaki chicken and fried shrimp. He asked to substitute the mahi for another fish choice (included an additional fee) which seemed to be a problem due to the obvious frustration on the face of the cook, and confusion of the cashier. He then asked if he could substitute the salad for fries, being prepared for an additional fee. After being charged the fee, they even managed to mess up his order and give him fries and salad instead of the rice and fries as he asked for. At the conclusion of the order, the cashier remained confused as though she was not prepared to take on her position during this day, and the cook had trouble containing his unreasoned frustration. What makes it worse is I walked into the establishment prepared to also order the Ohana, and was not expecting these complications to occur. Due to me being behind my friend in line, I approached the counter, began to order the same meal, and the continuous confusion and frustration of the employees (and the tremendous amount of excess fees to compensate for their lack of supply) caused me to not order anything, and more than likely will not return. The food is good, but not worth the price at all! Do yourself a favor, spend an additional $5 if necessary and visit a more professional establishment where the staff is more prepared, the service is quicker, and the quality and portions of food are actually worth the price you pay. Guarentee if a true Hawaiian came to this resuraunt they would leave hungry and upset with the price they paid.

Really awesome local place for Hawaiian BBQ. I cam 30 minutes after open on a Monday was instantly greeted and was then walked through how to order and the popular choices. I decided on the Kalbi beef ribs, Kalua pork, Hawaiian salad, Mac salad. The Kalua pork was AMAZING, not every place does it right, but Mokis hits it on the spot. The Hawaiian salad was a first for me and I must say it is a MUST TRY for anyone who likes vinegar based salads. The ribs were marinated to perfection, but sad to say they were a bit under cooked, which is a whole lot better than OVER cooked, but this lead to the fat on the beef being a bit chewy. The mac salad was great ! it wasnt overly sweet like most places you find mac salad. Also plate was garnished with a really sweet and fresh pineapple, honestly it was the best slice of pineapple i have ever had and it was the perfect way to end off the belly stretching meal that is Mokis.

Five of us went to Mokis on Saturday, March 15th. The food was okay and slightly over-priced. We placed a large order and the strawberry milk shake was missing. It was eventually provided after we asked for it. The shake was very thin like strawberry milk. Nothing was said by the order taker nor did she express any comment, like "I am so sorry to have missed that". Okay, now it is dessert time and we ordered sugared donut holes with pineapple and strawberries and whipped cream. The picture looked yummy. What we got were donut holes with two drizzles of strawberry sauce and no pineapple or whipped cream in sight. This time I brought it to the cashier/owners attention and all I got was a lame smile and no concern or apology. That brought the food service to two disappointments. The service was not acceptable and the lack of concern of not having quality control keeps me from ever going back again.

I had teriyaki chicken, brown rice, mac salad&a pineapple on the side. It was very delicious. My husband had the chicken katsu plate&omg! I tried a piece&it is so very delicious&the sauce is to die for! #Yum :) After we had an island desert, the Grandmas Chocolate Macadamian Cake w/Ice Cream. Yummy! Cant wait to go back. I cant comment on the quality of the restaurant as we had Mokis catered. We ordered the Roasted Pig for little Luau theme party we had. The cost was $300 for the pig. We thought the price was high but thought it would be worth it to have the experience of having a roasted pig. Mokis claims the pig will feed 30-35 people. No way...and no, we are not a bunch of fatsos. Ive had roasted pig like this at other parties and it was probably twice as big. Anyway, so the size of the pig was a disappointment...AND we had to carve it all up when it came to the party. The other times we ordered a whole pig, the restaurant delivers it and carves it up for you. But you live and learn. We also ordered some type of fried rice and salad. They were incredibly good.

Save your money!!! Dont go! Your better off going to Ono Hawaiian grill, Aloha kitchen or Rumbi island grill. This place has dry dry meat and over mayod macaroni salad. The beef teriyaki was so dry it was worse than jerkey. My boyfriend had to add green chili to make it some what better and manageable to eat. (We took it to go and when we got home we realized how bad it all was) We definitely wont be going back for round two. Oh and this isnt too much of a big deal but it was definitely a first, I purchased the order with Groupon and they still charged tax for the order. Ive NEVER had that happen when purchasing something through Groupon and trying to redeem it, never. Anyway not a big deal but heads up!
