3 stars based on 2 for my experience with the food, and 4 for the service and atmosphere. I will probably never eat here again when there are better Mexican restaurants to choose from. My particular order (chili relleno and carne asade chimichanga) was disappointing. The chili relleno: maybe their version of it is some regional preference, but Ive never seen one like it. The chili was very small, still had some crunch, and wasnt fried in the usual batter. It was wrapped in what looked and tasted like pure, dense egg (possibly powdered egg); like an omelet. The taste was bland, and texture was wet and slick. Not very appetizing. I fry up a better one at home and Im as fair as the driven snow. The carne asada chimichanga: the highlight was the tortilla. The meat was somehow soggy and tough at the same time with a lot of sinew. It also had an unsettling flavor. Again, maybe this is a regional preference, or family recipe. Its just not my preference. The food came out fast. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. In this case, Im calling it bad. It came out suspiciously fast, and had a look and taste that, along with how quickly it appeared, suggest pre-made. I looked around our table and what I saw of the other dishes all looked about the same; like pre-made food elements were all just kind of arranged together when the order hit the kitchen. Granted, the chicken fajitas a couple chairs down did arrive on a sizzling cast iron pan, but thats been pretty much mandatory for awhile and has all but lost its charm. The ~2 ounces of synthetic looking chicken more than negated the novelty of the pan sizzle. I do have it on good authority though that the nachos "are amazing." This comes from a man who orders nothing but nachos at every Mexican restaurant he frequents. The atmosphere and service were enjoyable, and friendly and helpful. The serving staff all seemed attentive and eager to please.

Take this review with a grain of salt because this was merely our experience. We went on a Saturday at 6:00pm and everything was terrible...okay, not EVERYTHING. The chips were great, maybe even a little better than Los Hermanos and the salsa was fair. My husband and I found it hard to scoop well. The flavor was pretty great but be prepared for it to have a kick to it! I loved that they had refried beans with the initial chips and salsa. So all was going well until we needed our second batch of chips and salsa. Then our third batch. Finally 30 minutes later (and we were full of chips) our waitress came to take our order. I saw our waitress wait on and serve 3 people (seated after us) before she even took our order. I ordered the regular fajitas which were terrible. I could have swore the steak was dear steak and the rest of the food was lacking flavor. My husband ordered the Tampiquena which was actually really delicious...unfortunately neither of us ate much because we filled up on the chips while we were waiting. I will NEVER go back. I dont enjoy paying $8 an hour for babysitting to just sit there and get ignored in a restaurant.

Food was served fast, fresh, and accurate. Deducted a star because of two issues. First, they do not serve queso dip, which to me is just odd Second, and on a more serious note, wife likes to customize her meal and the waiter was not having it. She started by making a suggestion of something on the menu that she felt was closer to what my wife wanted. When my wife declined she became overbearing and tried to tell her she needed to order the other item and which point my wife dug in with a, I dont care if it is going to be extra this is how I want it. Finally, she dropped the issue. My turn came, I ordered, and she informed the sauce on my burrito was going to be very hot. I said that was fine and she reemphasized the fact said sauce was very hot three additional times before I asked her, in as nice a tone as I could muster, to just turn the order in. While we would eat here again we would request a different member of the wait staff.

For my first time at La Costa, I was very well pleased. When I went in I did so with low expectations. Those low expectations were blown so far out of the water they could have been in orbit. The service was good (though they appeared upset when my pale self started speaking spanish to them), the atmosphere was clean though commercialized, and the food was the best (mexican) Ive had in Utah. The prices were reasonable considering the large portions and the quality with which it was prepared. I ordered the Guadalajara Burrito (Steak), my wife had the Cheese Enchilada, and my kids cheese nachos (those little chickens) and my whole family split a Fried Ice Cream. We all left quite full, and very pleased with the meal. Our waiter Gerardo always had a smile, and was very friendly.

Passing through town and sadly after reading reviews we were very disappointed. Our service could hardly be called so. We had to ask for our drinks, food and check. They were not as friendly as reviews said. Very short and seemed like it was their first time running a restaurant (3diff waitresses). Half tempted to walk out instead of pay them, we did pay and left a small tip (normally we are good tippers but didnt feel like it was deserved at all ) and came to find out they changed our total amount by a few bucks. They were not even that busy. Just all stood around chatting. We know these things can happen and I was debating leaving a review but for our total amount to be changed totally topped our experience off. Sadly we wont go back when passing through town again.

Genuinely this place is amazing. I came here not expecting much because of the reviews but my experience was supreme. You cone here for the carne asada. Ive been on a hunt my whole life for authentic tasty carne asada like the stands in México. La Costa has the best carne Ive found yet north of the border. The service was extreme attentive, very kind, and on top of everything. The wait for the food was a little longish, but once it came out it was worth the wait. The beans are the most authentic Ive ever had, I cant imagine how much lard they use to make them so tasty. I asked for some spicier salsa and they delivered. It was tan picoso! The atmosphere is a classy, rustic Mexican feel. If youre looking good for good Mexican food, this is the place to come!

WORST FOOD AND SERVICE EVER!! HAD CREDIT CARD STOLEN! DONT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. CHEAP FOOD SOLD AT HIGH COST!! I left my credit card there by accident so I called them to see if they had it, the lady on the phone described to me my credit card and told me they would put it aside for me. We live 2 hrs away so it was not a quick trip for us. We get there I talk to the manager and he says they do not have my card, Then who on the phone said they did and how did they describe it to me if they wernt holding it in their hand looking at it?? We wasted 5 hrs on a Saturday thanks to them! WILL NEVER GO BACK IN MY LIFE.
