We decided to try for my birthday a special place and choose this upscale Indian restaurant. My wife made a reservation for early dinner at 5pm on a Saturday. She mentioned also that the occasion would be a birthday. Our waitress struggled to described the meal and we had to ask a lot of questions. We choose the 4 course tasting menu and figured out later from the people sitting next to our table that you are not limited with the selection to how the courses are listed on the menu you are able to choose also two second courses and skip the first entirely. Our waitress didnt mention that. The food was overall good and nicely plated. The portions are very small even for the main course. And when we walked out we felt still hungry after spending $300 for both of us with one cocktail each. Also they dont serve any complimentary naan bread or the Indian chips Papads. We asked for a few chips to accompany the dinner and eat the rest of the sauces with. That also showed up on the bill and was an additional $10 which we where not told. But I guess our fault. Also we are usually used to getting some kind of treat from the restaurant when the dinner is for a birthday occasion but they didnt even mention it. The experience was not satisfying and we left hungry and slightly disappointed. Next time Ill go again to Jean Georges for the lunch menu which is always solid and unbelievable even less expensive without being still hungry afterwards.

A small taste of a coconut and pumpkin hot soup. Very nice - more coconut than pumpkin. Spicy. Naan and cheese bite. Full of butter - not quite enough salt. Ordered the kichidi and the fish bhel. The kichidi was ok. Dal with crunch rather than a rice based dish. Regular kichidi is fantastic and not that common a restaurant dish. I dont prefer this version, but it was still tasty and turns dal into a stand alone dish. The fish was tuna and cheetos. Indian restaurants really dont do great fish (aside from Kerala, Bengali or Goan places). The poha and the dosa as mains. The dosa was not really a dosa - it was a mushroom dish (very good and spicy) with a small, overly crisp dosa piece (not that good - a good dosa should be crisp on the outside and soft on the inside). The poha was the best dish by far and also the most authentic. The desert was a makhan malai with a brittle topping. Light airy and excellent. But Im not a big fan of traditional Indian sweets. Unusually, the mains were better than the appetizers. Portions were small, but adequate. Excellent service. 4 stars for service and decor. 2 stars for the appetizers 4 stars for the mains and desert Another lunch - the eggplant chat was great - the salmon was good - properly salted this time - the Murgh was a bit too creamy and rich but full flavored - the lotus dish was excellent aside from the weird bits of corn

This was the first time we had been to this place, it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Our kids had recommended us this place & they treated us like royalty 4 course meal. It was Indian Food with Classic Style & NYC Ambience was also great. Had we known its a classy restaurant we would have dressed up. Highly recommend to have the taste of different variety of food, Appetizer: • sweet potato shakarkandi, kohlrabi, crispy okra • potato sphere chaat, white pea mash • scallops, cauliflower saffron shorba, pickled gobi Main Course: • chicken kofta, punjabi kadhi, onion pakora • pork chili fry, rice crusted prawn, poha • braised lamb, prune korma, rajasthani pearl millet khichdi Accompaniments: • Kulcha: wild mushroom & butter chicken • black dairy dal with morel pulao Deserts: • makhan malai, saffron milk, rose petal jaggery brittle, almonds • doda barfi treacle tart, vanilla bean ice cream • cheeni ki roti, marshmallows, old monk ice cream • meethe chawal, sweet rice, almond milk, barberries Each course was well decorated & well cooked, the Lamb was the Best, you could see the tenderness & juicy meat it just melted in our mouth. Would highly recommend to see how classy can be Indian Restaurant right in middle of Manhattan, really worth spending the precious time together & money.

Ok maybe 3.5 stars. This is thoroughly modernized Indian food. Five stars for the attempt and being (oh so) avant garde. Pricey ($9 for a paratha, seriously). There were five of us and we did the three course offering except for one who did the four course. There is also a chefs degustation menu signifying the presence of a guru. I think I got a taste of almost the entire menu. For my taste there were hits and misses, so dont go there expecting unbelievable flavors in everything and youll be OK. The service and attention was truly exceptional except for one unbelievable near-rudeness; their over-eager attempts at removing our plates before everyone was done. They seem to be oblivious to this common courtesy. Air-conditioning is a problem here, apparently the hotel controls it. They spoilt us with extras and we got a whole range of their extraordinary desserts, gratis, because we were celebrating an anniversary. My thanks to the establishment.

Friendly staff, wonderful service, and amazing food!! I went here for lunch and I would recommend for everyone! I got the sweet potato sakarkand as an app. It was so tasty! The fried okra really made the dish so much tastier. Presentation was also on point! Next I got the chicken kofta - so perfectly made. Creamy punjabi kadhi on the side that I was able to eat with naan. I also got the pumpkin cheddar and chicken kulcha which was super tasty as well! Everything was presented exquisitely , and the meal was ended with a complementary tray of Indian post dinner snacks.

Compared to the original Indian Accent in Delhi, this New York branch was disappointing - the dishes are without doubt creative and a pleasantly light version of Indian cuisine - yet none of the 4 dishes I sampled was a standout I would like to eat again. In fact, dishes were strangely bland, complete absence of umami (ironically, the amuse bouche was the best part of the meal). Even my cocktail lacked this edge. In addition, the restaurant is seriously overpriced. I therefore wouldnt go back and cant recommend it.

Service: very good and accommodating; I came with a party of 7 and was seated outside. They quickly extended the awning to provide ample shade. They were also very helpful with ordering and informative. Food: amazing. Complimentary naan and paneer starter was savory, and the soup was rich. Butter chicken kulcha was intense in its flavor, in a great way. Soft shell crab with rice was delicious; the crab even by itself was so good. The dal (side) was perfectly spiced and paired very well with naan and rice.

Oh yes. Having been to both the New Delhi and NYC locations, I can confidently state that Indian Accent NYC maintains the stratospheric standards of the original. The menu is as innovative as it gets, but the focus is always on great execution. Multiple amuse bouches and palette cleansers indicate that the management is aiming for recognition by a certain tyre company. Not to jinx them, but it looks like these guys are on track for those coveted stars!

I feel bad for the chef. Such good food and such poor service. By the 2 course our server was no where to be find. I could get anyone to refill my drink. To the server: that $6 coke that you failed to refill cost you your whole tip. Even the manager stopped over to check on my wifes drink, but the time I turned around to ask for a refill, he was gone! To bad this could a been a great place.
