Id like to know how the food is here, but we went to the lunch buffet on a regular Saturday (not a holiday weekend) and they were randomly closed with a sign in the window saying they were closed for a "ritual" whatever that means. So, ok we thought wed try back on Monday. Seems weird to close on a busy weekend day. We came back the following Monday for lunch and they were closed AGAIN. The sign on Monday said theyd be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday. So instead of telling their customers ahead of time, they let them pay for parking and show up during normal stated business hours only to find that theyre closed for some unknown reason. Seems highly unprofessional and uncaring of their customers. I dont even care if the food is good, Ill never go there again. Its a good indication how little they care what their customers think if they just randomly close and dont post a warning ahead of time. Ive never seen a place pull something like that. Dont waste your time or money here.

Ordered two chicken entrées by phone. The order was repeated back for verification. Picked up the order and came home to find it only contained one order. Would not answer my phone call until I used a different phone than the one I originally ordered from. When I informed them I only received one order they asked if I was sure there wasnt two. Can I not count to two??? After being passed from person to person on the phone, I was told if I wanted the rest of my order it would be ready if I came back. I went back and picked it up. When it was all said and done I still only received rice for one order, and the what they originally gave me turned out to be vegetarian instead of chicken like I ordered and paid for. The food was ok, but they need to learn customer service and how to process orders. And you can add at least $1-2 for everything on the 2013 menu posted.

Called in to make reservations when a woman answered. I started talking and she hung up on me after she only said hello only ONCE without identifying her business and I was saying hello twice. I thought, no big deal, and called back and politely tried to make light of her hanging up on me. She immediately got rude saying "we never hang up on people". I again politely said "well you did it to me" and I started to ask about reservations. She unexpectedly started getting rude and indignant to me and talked over me so I couldnt ask anything . This lady (?) needs to stop getting angry so fast and I dont know what her problem is but talk to a customer like that is never right. May e a course in phone etiquette in in order along with a dash opatience. Will not be going back.

Will never go back to Himalayan, as their arrogance is as high as Mount Everest. We drove all day to get to Lancaster and carefully selected a restaurant for dinner. But when we arrived at Himalayan, we were refused seating simply because we had not made a reservation. It was a Monday evening, and they were not very busy. The place was half empty and the buffet was loaded with food, so there was no problem with capacity. I asked what the problem was and the reply was "thats just our rule." In an inconvenient and somewhat seedy location with scarce parking, this restaurant needs to do everything it can to drum up business--instead of turning away customers! Go around the block to Old San Juan for authentic ethnic food and above all good customer service!

Went on a weekend for a lunch menu. Food was OK and not much vegetarian options. This place is not for Indians. Very rude staff especially the manager lady . We pay for what we eat and we deserve better respect from them . I went alone and was seated next to the bathroom. I moved to a next table which was vacant but the Manager lady prevented me from moving. When requested for a place change she asked me to wait in the outside sofa ( I had my food in my plate and have not yet started to eat) . I just paid for my food and came back. They better learn how to respect people . I will never ever ever visit this place again in my life. If there is an option i will give a negative value for their behavior.

Absolutely LOVE this restaurant. Amazing food, love the staff- theyre always so friendly and greet me directly every time I come in. The chicken tikka masala is the BEST Ive ever had. Literally. The naan is soft and fresh. I love the lunch buffet!!! If you want your food spicy, you have to request it that way otherwise its going to be mild- but when they do make it spicy they arent messing around. My favorite restaurant. Ive been to at least 15-20 Indian restaurants all over the east coast. Himalayan is BY FAR the best. Definitely dont miss out on it if youre in Lancaster or the surrounding areas- it is definitely worth the drive if youre further away. I wish I could give them more stars.

Being an Indian, we do not go to Indian restaurants often. Having heard enough good reviews from friends, we tried Himlayan. We ordered Lamb Vindaloo (spicy for most non Indians), Malai Kofta, Keema Naan and at the end Pistchio Kulfi for desert. All items were very, very tasty and the prices are reasonable, not to high, not too low. Only critic I have is that always request MORE CURRY (GRAVY) when ordering any dish, otherwise it is very dry food with rice and naan. Pappadum and chutneys ware served before the food. Since it is BYOB, this is a great deal. The service was very timely even though it was full house on a Thursday. NEVER go without a reservation.

Came to restaurant for lunch at 1:55 PM. My family and I were turned away and it was a party of nine people because they said that they stop serving lunch at 1:45 PM. The sign at their door said that the restaurant is opened for lunch until 2 PM. And when I confronted the manager about their times she said that they have the times at the door which was not accurate as posted. When I questioned why they were handing out menus to customers to walk 10 minutes after us she did not have an answer and close the phone in my face. This restaurant is run by poor quality servers and is very unprofessional. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I was there last week when i visited one of my brach office in Lancaster, when my boss asked me wher to go for lunch,i said Lets go to Some Indian restaurant and it was 10 min drive from my office and when we entered the restaurant initially I thought the food would be normal but when i started eating it, i was amazed with the taste and and its quality. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who loves food. The buffet was extremely wonderful and all the dishes are hot and good in taste. I wish they had a big place to serve more people.

Hands-down the best Indian food in Lancaster. Ill be honest and say I have fallen into a bit of a pattern when eating here (naan and tika-masala paneer or chicken). So I cant speak to the breadth of the menu, but Ive never heard a complaint from any dining companion Ive brought to the restaurant. There is limited seating and it tends to be quite busy during peak times (or all the time really), so take-out is an excellent option for here. Be sure to try a mango lassi.
