I am mystified as to why there have been so many bad reviews of this place. We had a wonderful time, good food, french bistro food, well cooked and more than pleasantly served. Husband had lamb shank, he is sort of a lamb shank maven by now-- orders it every time he can, and declared it the best he had ever had and wished there was more. I had typical bistro food, Paté, salad, and then added the quiche of the day because I was worried I would not have quite enough. Well the paté was in fact quite enough and the wine that was suggested by the glass was excellent, and a thoroughly enjoyable exchange took place with our wait person as to the choice. Starter of herring for the husband was again "delicious". The quiche "pate" - (dough) was French -- made with butter and more of a puff pastry -- again delicious, rich and satisfying. the wait staff could not have been nicer, they in fact were the guides to a very fun evening. We will return, again , and again. This is now my go-to place for that kind of food, which I do love. Prices were New York city restaurant prices.. value was comparably better, I thought, than the last few places where we have eaten well. We were not rushed, no one was; the table in the corner was eating when we were seated; they were still there as we exited, and having a great time too. We shared short yummy comments and some laughs with them as we happily left. I say give this place a try; maybe we were just extremely lucky and a visiting 3 star chef was in charge and brought his charming wait staff with him, but I doubt it. I bet it is reliably good each time we visit from now on. If not I will re-review. the next times we go.

first whom ever gave this place more then 3 stars has no pallet. Food had no flavor that wonderful french attitude was in full effect. As far as different cold avocado soup is different not great but different. The artichoke soup was warm but had no flavor. its as if the the Chef which I doubt that there is a head chef used his sock in hot water then served to us with a smile.the escargot was a watered down butter version of real escargot. If i can suggest you fly your people to Taixs in Hollywood so they can taste quality french food. ohh God forbid you want extra sauce they will charge you 2.50 ahahaha jeez. So I had the salmon that was tasty but from farm not wild caught. So it lacked that fresh taste of the sea. i do see people in here so they must have some dishes that are decent i will never know. i sound jaded im not, just not happy when food isnt up to par. 91 dollar bill for some of the worst food i have ever had. if any one wants to dispute me hell, ill let you be the judge, come here and take the pepsi challenge. i would call this place Vegas because you are dropping a nice dime and rolling the dice to see if you win in the good taste department. i am not a snob but the dirty dogs on the corner taste better. oh saw the prep crew not a one was french. this place needs a bew menu and something else i just dont know what.... Ohhh yes I do a whole different restaurant. Sorry if you dont agree but in simple words it sucked.

I will write negative reviews of this restaurant in as many places as I can find, until the place closes down or the nasty, dumb hostess (too kind a word, general manager) gets a job washing dishes somewhere. Our server was honest and kind, pointed out a mistake hed made when he brought the bill, and then spoke to above-mentioned manager. We werent sure how to react, but in similar situations elsewhere, Ive noticed its common and courteous to waive the fee of the mistaken item. In our case, the manager came to speak to us and accusingly said, "is there a problem here?" which was perplexing because we were under the impression that the mistake was pointed out to us by an honest server, and we demanded nothing. Realizing that wed get nowhere with this monster of a manager, I simply said that it would be up to her to decide, though wed be grateful not to have to pay for the mistaken item, in other words, take the high road. We were brought two tiny glasses of Calvados (which we didnt want--wed just finished a glass!), so we left them. Unfortunately, the attitude of this manager was impatient, negative, and accusatory, and basically ruined what had up to that point been a very pleasant night out.

We were three old friends having a quiet dinner to celebrate my 80th birthday. Wed come in early on our way back from an afternoon at the Met museum. It was our first visit to this place - Id said I always wanted to try it. We thought the service was amateurish, but the food was okay and we were enjoying our conversation, finishing our coffee - at about 7:15 - when the maitre d brought us our check and told us we had to leave because he needed the table for someone else! I dont have to tell you how mad we were! We took our time drinking our coffee and paying the bill (of course!), but we really had no wish to stay in such an inhospitable place any longer, and as we got up to leave, the nice gentleman at the next table said hed never heard or seen such a thing in his whole life and advised us to write to the owner about it.

The food quality here is delicious, fresh and unique. We came for lunch, had the smoked salmon tardiness w avacado and fennel pollen. It was excellent. My husband had the lamb sausage, it was excellent, and my parents had burgers, which were just perfectly cooked and flavorful. The bread which they were served on was fresh and texturally perfect. We also had four desserts, the raspberry sorbet was out of this world, and the lemon tart and flan were a wonderfully delicious treat for all your senses. Atmosphere is lovely, like being in France. I highly recommend this place.

I went to the restaurant and the food was great the service was great...drinks are good BUT glasses too small for martinis. BUT, the big mistake was to pay with a creditcard. they charged me twice for the meal one time when I was there and another time at 9PM my meal was at 2PM. I called the restaurant the next day (no manager available only a rude waitress who answer the phone) and told me that i need to wait until next monday (6 days later) to have Sue the accountant talk to me.......! so, im out of that second transaction cash until Sue comes..in! I will never go back! RUDE!

Sitting in the window at a small table for two up one step for the waiter and servers, and for the second visit in the past two weeks, (at the first we were four sitting in the back) our dinner was most pleasant and agreeable, the food is consistently quite good. However it seems to make a difference where you sit, who serves you, who you are with and if you speak French, and as well how often you come and how much you order in terms of the check bottom line. Malgre tout, I love this neighborhood hangout and will return when the occasion presents itself.
