I went here in August, 2011 (mid-week). I walked in and they were able to seat me later that evening - I had foolishly decided not to set a reservation. The restaurant is small (seats maybe 35 from my recollection?), but well appointed with low lights. When we asked about a wine, not only did the restaurant send someone over to help us, but they even let us taste two different bottles. Note: If I recall correctly, the wine selection is organized by region of France - not varietal. Those who are used to picking on a simple Red & White list may quickly be overwhelmed. The food was delicious. I have never tasted a green pepper so full of flavor as the peppers that surrounded my entree. The entree was good. The french onion soup was very nice. But I distinctly remember the flavorful peppers. A waitress made sure our water glasses were full, and was almost too efficient - our glasses were never less than half full. Overall, it made for a really wonderful date restaurant. Bill for 2 with wine & generous tip around $140. The bathroom is tiny - but it is NYC.

My family came in from Toronto to celebrate a birthday. We were six. The service was poor but we were a happy and uncomplaining group until I found rusty metal pieces in my food! I brought this to the attention of SEBASTIEN, the Maitre d who said hed "take care of it." He never apologized nor did he remove the charge from our bill! I was sick for the next two days. When I telephoned to have him refund our part of the bill (which my husband foolishly paid), he said hed have his accountant, then another guy, Mikael, then Mme Radu (or Satou) refund my money. That never happened. With the abundance of many fine restaurants in that area of Manhattan, I strongly urge you to go elsewhere. I wish I consulted your review service before stepping into that place!

Consigliato

DONT GO THERE UNLESS YOU WANNA BE OVERCHARGED!!! I went with a group of friends for wine and tried to pay the bill with my card, but the waiter said it was declined. My friend then paid with his card and gave him a 18% tip. Next day I checked my bank statement and they had swiped my card twice, meaning that they charged me the first time but only gave me the receipt saying declined from the second time they swiped. My friend then checked his statement and not only they had charged him but actually put an extra dollars! We ended up paying more than double and had to spend a lot of time in phone calls to fix all this mess!

Apparently the owner of the establishment does not care much about its clientele as he refused to lower the volume of the music that was playing extremely loud. This place has a lot to learn about respect. As far as food is concerned, it was way too salty. I would not recommend this French restaurant. There are plenty of alternatives within a walking distance.

Well known as a wine bar, this small, friendly boite consistently serves up the most authentic bistro fare in NY. The duck confit was perfectly done on my first visit, so I followed up on weekly visits with poulet roti, steak frites, steak tartare, along with their delicious appetizers and deserts. From a fan of French bistros, this ranks number one. Enjoy!

This use to be one of my favorite places and it has completely gone downhill. They treated us like dirt - made us pay for an expensive spoiled seafood dish, lectured us in front of other clients, forgot to bring one of our drinks and appetizers ... they are rude and arrogant - soooo disappointed. They spoiled our evening! I will never go back there again!

Went again after a too expensive Italian dinner around the corner and was kicking myself for not spending all that money here on a better bottle and just plain tasty food. Fantastic in all key dimensions, ambiance, food, wine... cant wait to introduce another person to this establishment.

My favorite little French restaurant in the city. I try to go every time Im in Manhattan. They do a wonderful brunch and have a quaint wine tasting. Staff very friendly, many speak French, and the food is quite delicious. Great wine selection too

Iphone was stolen while I ate diner at the bar. Staff were not helpful. They said the surveillance tape did not have my phone in it. Seemed very sketchy. The place was empty and they said the guy who had been sitting next to me was a regular client.

Asked the manager to lower the salsa music they were blasting super loud, to which he made it even louder. Ruined my date because we could not out scream the music. At least their cooks enjoyed it as they were bopping their heads to it.

Such a good place. Try "les escargots à la bourguignonne" and " la tarte tatin" (ask creme frache with it, its rare in NY to have this possibility. Maybe the 10th time that I go here.

Probably my favorite romantic restaurant in NY. Great French food, especially the escargots and mussels. Plus, their wine tasting offering is fantastic.

Cozy French bistro with an outstanding wine selection. You cant go wrong on the menu and food is served until 4am daily. The brunch is also stellar.

Slightly pretentious French Bistro type spot with excellent Croque Monsieur and Soup à LOnion. Open late which almost makes up for pretentiousness.
