Stout is the paragon of the saying "good things come in small packages". This little restaurant located on the beach end of Santa Monica Blvd. was such a great find. My friends and I decided to go for dinner after hearing a coworker rave about the place and boy am I glad we did. Everything from the service to the food to the atmosphere was perfect for a dinner out with friends. Everything on the menu looked amazing so we got a few things to split as a table. My favorites were the Loaded Fries ($7): Crispy fries under a mountain of cheesy bacon goodness! Stout Burger ($13): blue cheese, bacon, gruyere, caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes and horseradish cream all on a juicy burger smushed between two perfectly toasted buns. Is your mouth watering yet? Cobb Salad ($12): Im usually not a big Cobb fan but my friend insisted and I finished about 90% of the thing. Honestly it was the dressing that got me. Soooo good. My favorite thing by far was the ice cream sandwich. Its so good it needs its own paragraph. Let me tell you, this is no regular ice cream sandwich. According to the manager this treat happened as an accident when a cook dropped a hamburger bun into the deep fryer. Rather than two cookies, Stout uses two deep fried and perfectly sugared buns as the outside of their sandwich. It honestly tasted like two warm donuts. If you get nothing else from this review you MUST try the ice cream sandwich. Youll thank me later. The only bad thing about this place is that its so small so seating is limited; but a spot on the patio watching the sunset with one a beer from their giant selection is well worth the wait.

Stout has the most incredible food. The burgers are UNBELIEVABLE. I tried the hangover burger and it was so good, it comes on a warm soft bun with melted cheese, and over easy egg, and super good ketchup like sauce. I never finish my food and I ate the entire thing. Dessert was even better, the bread pudding was incredible. Its cooked perfecting and they make it right when you order it so its still soft and warm. The ice cream sandwich is also crazy good. The ice-cream is sandwiched by a homemade donut and is a good combo of sweet and savory. Theres also tons of variety when it comes to the beer they have on tap and the entire staff knows what beer pairs well with which items of food and are super helpful figuring out whats going to taste best to you. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. Dana, India, and Josh were helping my table the entire time and always made sure we had everything we needed and got our food and drinks out. Overall a super cool and friendly environment where you can people watch from your table and just hang out. Definitely would recommend going to Stout!!

Santa Monica was unusually (or maybe its usual now) packed when we visited, so when we had walked up to the hostess, she had told us the wait time was 45 minutes. We decided to walk on but left our phone number in case a table was ready. As we walked about, all the restaurants had at least 45 min wait time. By the time we were about to give up, we got a text from Stout saying our table was ready and we raced back! The service was pretty good, not as attentive as I would have liked, but they were busy like everywhere else, so it is understandable. The burger was pretty good, I had the Shu burger. Their fries were also pretty delicious and flavorful. They had a great and big selection of beer that were able to be paired with each burger. All in all, great experience!

Stouts service, food, and location is prime for anyone who is visiting in the Santa Monica area. Juicy burgers, cold brews, and a nice intimate environment, what more could you ask for? Dont get me started on their desserts, that bread pudding will satisfy that sweet tooth. Seating is either indoor or outdoor. I would recommend sitting outside to see the hustle and bustle of Santa Monica if youre from out of town. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you are getting. Parking may be tricky because of the traffic so if you are close by ubering may be the move. Dont miss out on a great time. Family and friendly atmosphere that caters to all your desires. Great place for a first date, I took my girlfriend here and she loved it!

Amazing! The location is fantastic, the service is impeccable, and the food pairings with the beer are about as perfect as you can get. I came here with two of my friends on a Thursday. The owner greeted us and took great care of as us well as his staff. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food which you could tell was made with lots of care and healthy ingredients. We ended up having dessert as well which ended up being the best bread pudding I had ever had. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a burger (beef, chicken, or veg), beer, or both!

Great place for lunch and some craft beers. We popped in here to escape the midday heat, having visited the pier. We sat at the bar and choice from the enormous list of beers. We got a little hungry so also grabbed a burger and salad. The burger has fantastic and it was first time I had managed to get real cheese in USA (im from England). The only downside was the service was a little slow, and the waitresses seemed to enjoy gossiping about their customers rather than serving them.

The waiter was very friendly. I asked for a Mr burger which should be a warm red center what I got was a mw or well burger. I told the server this, he said that the kitchen guys change and he cant do anything. I wanted to give this place a second chance and ordered another burger. The temperature again was well. The beer was fine but the only food that they should be able get right is a burger which was a epic fail.

Great location, but the tap list is phenomenal. In a world overrun by an IPA craze, I cant thank the owner of this bar enough for catering to my taste for dark, strong, flavorful beers that arent hopcrazy. Im sure Im not the only one. They have IPAs too, but its a rare find to see 20 beers on tap that really want to try. After two nights here I would still love to come back and try a few more.

I am a lover of burgers so I thought this place would be awesome. The food was great....until I got terrible food poisoning. I have only experienced food poisoning one other time while visiting Italy, unfortunately this place was my second awful experience with being that sick. I now wish I would have stayed away so I could enjoy my vacation instead of spending it in a hotel bathroom.

I go here every time Im in Santa Monica for work. Great rotating beer selection, solid burger choices and a great relaxed vibe. Alone? No problem, theres a large bar surrounding the taps with plenty of space to eat and drink without nudging elbows with your neighbor. Coming with friends? Grab a table inside or out. Id suggest parties 6 or under personally.

I had the Stout Burger and it was exactly what a great burger should be! I had been out of the US for 3 months and had been craving a great burger and this is exactly what I needed. The beer selection here is incredible as well. If you are looking for a great burger and a beer this is the place to go. Im looking forward to coming back already.
