Ive heard of the Umami Burger craze for a while now, but havent tried the burgers until recently....man of man are they good. This is just an ordinary burger joint (sorta). At a glance the menu may seem like a burger joint with different types/styles of burgers, fries, beers, sodas, etc. But when you actually read particular ingredients about the burgers and the way they sound it became a different experience. The brother and I decided to try this place out one fine afternoon and we left satisfied. We started off with two alcoholic beverages (IPA and Amber Ale) which were different, but delicious. We ordered the truffle fries to start. They were good also, but had a weird peanutty after taste. Dont know if it was from the truffle or the cheese or what. But it still tasted good. I ordered the Truffle Burger medium well and holy s#@& it was amazing. I was staring at the burger and it began to bleed onto the plate and bottom bum which scared me at first, but it made the burger taste absolutely delicious. I sliced the burger in half and devoured the thing in a heartbeat. I was worried I was going to over indulge like always, but didnt have that feeling at all. Must be a Umami thing? Anyways delicious burgers, great beer selection, great service (sat at the bar), nice feng shui, and I will be back soon!!

My fiance brought me here because she had been there with her friend. The place was really nice. I order the manly burger and the waiter said that it comes medium rare; which is fine with me because I usually order my burgers that way. However, when I bit into the burger a big chunk of rare meat came out from the center. It was chewy like tendons. I could not chewy through it. It was like a rubber band. I didnt think anything of it because the favor was good and I also had not eaten all day. My fiance told me to send it back to cook it further because she was grossed out by it. Needless to say we went home and I started getting stomach cramps, and was I the bathroom with diarrhea and throwing up all night through the next day. I must have gotten good poisoning from the rare meat. Sad to say that even though the place is great and the rest of our food was good. The manly burger was a miss. I will not go back to this place again. Im afraid that I will get sick because it could have been the burger or improper food handling.

First off, parking in this area sucks! Especially on St. Pattys day! I drove in circles for over half an hour looking for parking and ended up finding a metered spot a few blocks down. I bet its like this during the Summer when everyone is at the beach. We came here around 2ish and the place was empty. People were at the beach and bars celebrating. Good for us! Ive been to Umami a few times before and love the truffle burger so I got that and truffle fries. The truffle burger came with housemade truffle cheese and truffle glaze. It was cooked perfectly but I couldnt taste much of the truffle. Same with the fries. Theyre too shy on the amount of truffle that goes into what makes their truffle burger and fries awesome. While food was lacking, service was outstanding! Our server was really friendly and kept our waters full for the most part. Our table came to about $45 before tax for 2 burgers, truffle fries, and the sliders. Its a tad much IMO for burgers that are just mediocre.

Oh boy, delicious and juicy burgers. How can you not like Umami? It does mean savory afterall... All definitions aside, I absolutely love Umami. If it is your first time here, I recommend getting the Truffle burger and the tempura onion rings. You could also go for the Umami burger for something thats a little more classic, but I find that the truffle is just dripping with flavor. Also, when they say medium rare, they actually mean medium rare, so dont be frightened when your burger comes to you correctly cooked. If you are terrified of pink, then ask for well done. This place can get busy, but if you come at a slightly off hour getting seating is easy peasy. My favorite part (aside from the food) has to be their chairs. You feel like you are sitting in a kings chair. Just trust me, youll know what I mean when you see them. :)

Umami is kind of a craze in California. But, I think its deserved. They have just a really good burger! We typically get this for a special occasion since we dont really live near here and the parking can be horrible if you dont get there early enough. What nice about the location though is all the shopping you can do on your way to Umami :) That said - they have some great pickled items. I thought the truffle burger would have been my favorite but it wasnt - it was the manly burger! When my mom was sick on chemo and not feeling like eating anything she was so thankful I went head and got her the Green Bird. Seriously - you must be a good restaurant if you can cheer up a stage 4 cancer patient. pro tip - be sure to ask for the special umami ketchup when you get your fries. They are kind of stingy with it!

This was my first time, but Ive tried many different burger places. What you can notice almost immediately are the prices. Theyre definitely higher than what Im normally used to. I had the cheesy tater tots, which were actually really good, though the portion was rather small. The umami burger was my choice and it was definitely good to bite into. It wasnt a messy burger where you take a bite and everything falls apart. They also give you the option of how you want the meat done, which is always a plus. Medium rare was my option and it was delicious. The burger, the atmosphere, and the selection of alcohol beverages definitely make this place feel more than what it is.

Good tasting burgers though they come with a high price tag. An example being the royal burger being $15.50. The burgers are also small, plated enlarge rectangular plates. However the burgers have their own bun that adds deliciousness to the burger. You can request additional sauces, and their tomato is made from cherry tomatoes which you can taste the different. The maple bacon fries delicious as well, with chips of bacon in the bowl of french fires they serve. Furthermore, the Japanese styles wings are something that needs to be tried at least once. The establishment is small and cramp, but the burgers are decently good for the price.

Umami Burger is amazing. Everything I eat here, I love. The boring salad isnt boring at all and has a flavorful dressing that pairs well with an add on of seared tuna. The hatch burger, the truffle burger, and the regular cheeseburger are some of my familys favorites. This location also makes a mean dirty shirley, which is an alcoholic shirley temple. The only downside is that this place is always packed, and you have to sit very close to the people next to you. This place is a great date restaurant (even though it is a bit loud) because after dinner you can walk up and down Ventura Blvd and there are plenty of things to see.
